The use of fully multi coated BaK-4 materials results in excellent luminosity and image definition. The roof prism models in this series have additionally gone through the process of phase coating. The individually adjustable twist up eyecups help to achieve a 100% field of view for those viewing with or without spectacles. The nitrogen gas filling makes these binoculars waterproof and stops internal fogging. The premium grade Montana series provides the maximum viewing pleasure.

BINOCOM Die Ferngläser der Binocom-Reihe sind überwiegend für den Wassersport konzipiert. Die 7-/10-fache Vergrößerung ermöglicht es, selbst bei starkem Seegang das Fernglas ruhig zu halten. Die damit kombinierte Objektivöffnung von 50 mm bietet ausreichend Lichtstärke, um auch bei schlechtem Wetter den Überblick auf See zu behalten. BaK-4 Glasmaterial und die hochwertige Optikvergütung garantieren eine kontrastreiche und farbgetreue Bildwiedergabe.

The Binocom binoculars are filled with nitrogen gas and are therefore water proof. They are equipped with a floating neckstrap, which prevents the binocular from sinking should it accidentally have gone overboard. All Binocom binoculars have an integrated reticle for distance/height measuring. The models 7x50 CLS and 7x50 GAL additionally have a built-in illuminable 360° pricision compass. The Binocom is not only an excellent binocular, it is also the perfect navigational assistant.

Fernglas-ABC ACHROMAT Ein Achromat ist eine optisch gekittete Doppellinse. Farb- und Abbildungsfehler einer Einzellinse werden durch einen Achromaten weitgehend eliminiert. Ein gutes Fernglas hat wenigstens je einen Achromaten im Okular- und Objektiv-Linsensystem. AIR-ACHROMAT Bei Air-Achromaten sind beide Linsen durch einen schmalen Luftspalt getrennt. Durch den Einsatz von AirAchromaten ist es möglich, die Baulänge zu verkürzen und so sehr kompakte Ferngläser herzustellen. AUGENABSTAND (OKULARE) Um das Fernglas den unterschiedlichen Augenabständen der Benutzer anzupassen, ist es um die Mittelachse schwenkbar. Der richtige Augenabstand ist dann eingestellt, wenn der Benutzer einen Bildkreis bei der Beobachtung sieht. Der Augenabstand wird vom Mittelpunkt der linken Okularlinse bis zum Mittelpunkt der rechten Okularlinse gemessen. AUGENMUSCHELN Augenmuscheln sind die Verbindung zwischen den Okular-Linsen und dem Auge. Fast alle Modelle besitzen umklappbare Gummiaugenmuscheln. Diese sind mit den Okularringen verbunden. Sie erfüllen zwei Funktionen: a) Der Druck auf das Auge bei längerem Beobachten wird durch das weiche Gummi vermindert. b) Für Beobachtungen mit einer Brille werden die Gummiaugenmuscheln umgeklappt. Dadurch wird der Abstand zwischen den Okular-Linsen und dem Auge verkürzt, der Brillenträger nutzt das ganze mögliche Gesichtsfeld des Fernglas-Modells aus. BRILLENTRÄGER-OKULARE siehe: Augenmuscheln DACHKANT-GLÄSER Ferngläser neuester Bauart. Durch den Einsatz von exakt geschliffenen Dachkantprismen ist ein fast linearer Strahlengang des Lichts möglich. D.h. diese Gläser sind besonders schlank und handlich. Ein Qualitätsunterschied zu den gebräuchlichen Porro-Modellen besteht nicht. Typische Modelle: 8x56 Spezial Jagd und 10x24 Montana. DÄMMERUNGSZAHL Die Dämmerungszahl ist das Maß für die Sehleistung und Detailerkennbarkeit bei Ferngläsern.

berücksichtigt keine Leistungssteigerung des Fernglases durch Vergütung, hochwertige Glassorten usw. siehe: Lichtstärke DIOPTRIE-AUSGLEICH Bei Ferngläsern mit Mitteltrieb-Einstellung ist das rechte Okular (bei den meisten Zoom-Ferngläsern das linke Okular) drehbar. Damit kann die Fehlsichtigkeit des Benutzers ausgeglichen werden. Bei Modellen mit Einzel-Okulareinstellung sind beide Okulare drehbar und dienen ebenfalls zur Scharfeinstellung. FERNGLAS-KOMPASS Die BRESSER BINOCOM GAL & CLS Modelle werden mit eingebautem Kompass geliefert, der während der Beobachtung im Sehfeld erscheint. Diese Ferngläser werden hauptsächlich zur Navigation in der Seefahrt eingesetzt. Auch die BRESSER EVEREST digital Ferngläser sind mit einem Kompass ausgestattet. Hierbei handelt es sich um einen digitalen Kompass, der jedoch nur von außen auf das Fernglas aufgesetzt ist. GALILEISCHES FERNGLAS Fernglas ohne Prismen. In der heutigen Zeit werden fast ausschließlich Theatergläser nach dem galileischen Prinzip gebaut. Das Sehfeld bei dieser Bauform ist besonders groß - allerdings ist die Vergrößerung auf max. 4-5x beschränkt. GUMMIARMIERUNG Ferngläser mit Gummiarmierung sind für den harten, berufsmäßigen Einsatz empfehlenswert. Die schwarze oder oliv-grüne Gummiarmierung schützt das Fernglas bei Stoß, Fall und Spritzwasser. Die Gummiarmierung unserer Ferngläser ist bei normalem Gebrauch lichtecht und unempfindlich gegen Sonneneinstrahlung. GUMMIAUGENMUSCHELN siehe: Augenmuscheln JUSTIERUNG (Doppelbild) Unter einer Justierung bei Ferngläsern versteht man die parallele Ausrichtung der beiden Fernglashälften. Wird ein Fernglas hart gestoßen, oder fällt es z. B. auf den Boden werden die Prismen verschoben und das Glas ist dejustiert. Bei Beobachtungen durch ein dejustiertes Fernglas-Modell erscheinen dem Betrachter die Konturen verschoben (Doppelbild). Eine leichte Dejustierung des Modells wird eventuell durch die Akkomodierung (Anpassung) der Augen ausgeglichen, bei längerem Sehen treten dann aber Kopfschmerzen auf. In jedem Fall ist ein dejustiertes Fernglas zur Reparatur einzusenden.

Objektiv Ø x Vergrößerung Das Ergebnis ist rein rechnerisch zu bewerten und nur für einen Vergleich von unterschiedlichen Fernglas-Typen (8x30, 7x50, 10x50 usw.) interessant. Die errechnete Zahl

LICHTSTÄRKE, allgemeiner Hinweis Die Lichtstärke ist das Maß für die Helligkeit des Fernglases. Unter normalen Umständen ist ein 7x50 Fernglas (L.S.51) für den Benutzer erheblich lichtstärker als ein 10x50 Fernglas (L.S. 25). Um die höhere

Lichtstärke des 7x50 Fernglases ausnutzen zu können, ist es Voraussetzung, dass sich die Pupille des Benutzers auf die Größe der Austrittspupille des Fernglases vergrößert (beim 7x50 = AP 7.14). Bei älteren Menschen (über 50 Jahre) öffnet sich die Pupille oft nicht mehr auf die maximale Größe und in diesem Fall kann die höhere Lichtstärke eines Fernglases nicht ausgenutzt werden. LICHTSTÄRKE, geometrisch Die geometrische Lichtstärke ist der rechnerische Helligkeitswert eines Fernglases. Modelle mit hoher Lichtstärke sind besonders für Beobachtungen in der Dämmerung geeignet. Formel zur Berechnung der Lichtstärke: (Objektiv Ø : Vergrößerung)2 z.B.: 50 : 10 = 5x5 = 25 Bei dieser Berechnung der Lichtstärke wird nicht eine leistungssteigernde Ausstattung des Glases berücksichtigt, wie z.B. BAK-4 Prismen, Mehrschichtvergütung, Qualität des optischen Glases usw. Diese Leistungssteigerung wird durch Berechnung der relativen Lichtstärke deutlich gemacht. LICHTSTÄRKE, relativ Die relative Lichtstärke ist der moderne Ausdruck, der die Verwendung von speziell vergüteten Linsen und Barium Kronglas (BAK-4) für eine erhöhte Lichtstärke berücksichtigt. Unsere Ferngläser haben z.B. eine bis zu 60% höhere Lichtstärke als einfache, unvergütete Prismengläser. NACHTGLAS Als Nachtgläser werden Modelle bezeichnet, die eine hohe geometrische und relative Lichtstärke aufweisen (z.B. 7x50, 8x56, 9x63, usw.) Ein hervorragendes Nachtglas ist das BRESSER 8x56 Spezial JAGD. RESTLICHTVERSTÄRKER Restlichtverstärker sind für den Einsatz in der Nacht konzipiert. Auch in der Nacht gibt es noch das so genannte "Restlicht" (Sternenlicht, Mondlicht usw.). Dieses Restlicht wird elektronisch im Fernglas bis zu 50.000x verstärkt. Durch den Einsatz eines zusätzlichen LASERS wird die Beobachtungsmöglichkeit des Restlichtverstärkers noch wesentlich erweitert.

RUBY-VERGÜTUNG oder ROT-VERGÜTUNG Bei diesen Ferngläsern ist eine 7-15 lagige rubinfarbene Mineralschicht auf die Objektiv-Linsen gedampft worden. Diese Vergütung erhöht bei Sonnenlicht den Kontrast des Fernglas-Bildes, da die Rot-Anteile des Lichtes weitgehend ausgefiltert werden. Es ist allerdings auch zu sagen, dass durch die RotVergütung die Lichtstärke des Glases um ca. 7% herabgesetzt wird. SEHFELD Unter Sehfeld eines Fernglases versteht man das übersehbare Gelände bei einem Abstand von 1000m vom Objekt. Das Sehfeld ist meistens in "Meter" angegeben. Bei der Angabe des Sehfeldes als Winkel (z.B. 7°) entspricht 1° = 17.5m. Ein Fernglas mit einem Sehfeld über 120m/1000m wird unter der Bezeichnung "Großfeld", über 140/1000m unter der Bezeichnung "Weitwinkel" angeboten. Weitwinkel-Ferngläser sind besonders für sich bewegende Objekte (Fußball, Pferderennen) empfehlenswert. STATIV-ANSCHLUSS Bei vielen Fernglas-Modellen ist bereits ein Stativgewinde eingesetzt. Diese Ferngläser können mit Hilfe eines Stativ-Adapters auf ein Stativ geschraubt werden und garantieren so ein “ruhiges” Bild. VERGÜTUNG Normale optische Linsen haben die Eigenschaft, einen Teil des einfallenden Lichtes zu reflektieren. Es entsteht ein Lichtverlust und eine Verminderung des Kontrastes durch Streulicht. Durch Vergütung der Linsen (aufdampfen einer reflexmindernden Mineralschicht) wird die Reflexion erheblich gemindert und die Lichttransmission (Durchlässigkeit) gesteigert. Ein vollvergütetes Fernglas lässt im Vergleich mit einem unvergüteten Glas ca. 60% mehr Licht in den Strahlengang ein. Durch Verwendung spezieller Vergütungen (UV-Vergütung, Mehrschichtvergütung) wird die Lichtstärke weiter gesteigert. siehe: Lichtstärke, relativ siehe: RUBY /ROT Vergütung

Das elektronische Bild eines RV ist aber in der Schärfe und Brillanz nicht mit einem optischen Bild eines Prismenglases zu vergleichen.

Binocular ABC´s ACHROMAT An Achromat is an optically glued double lens. Colour and display errors in a single lens are largely eliminated by an achromatic lens. A good pair of binoculars has at least one achromatic lens in its eyepiece and in its objective lens system respectively. AIR ACHROMAT In Air Achromats the two lenses are separated by a small air gap. The use of Air Achromats allows abbreviation of design length and hence very compact binoculars. BINOCULAR COMPASS The BRESSER BINOCOM GAL & CLS models are supplied with builtin compasses, that are viewable in the field of view. These types of binoculars are mainly used for maritime navigation. The BRESSER EVEREST digital as well as the BRESSER NAUTIC 8x42 are also fitted with an integrated compass. The exception here is that it is a digital compass rather than analog and it can only be viewed on top of the binocular. COATING Normal optical lenses reflect part of the light falling on them. This causes a loss of light and a reduction in contrast due to light scatter. Coating the lenses (steaming a reflection-reducing mineral layer onto them) greatly reduces reflection and increases light transmission (permeability). Fully coated binoculars let approximately 60% more light through than uncoated ones. Special coatings (UV, multilayer) can be used to increase luminous intensity even further. See: LUMINOUS INTENSITY, relative See: RED OR RUBY coating COLLIMATION (double image) This is understood to mean the parallel alignment of both halves in binoculars. If an instrument is subjected to any major impact or dropped (e. g. on the ground) the prisms become misaligned and the instrument is out of focus. Observation through such an instrument yields double images, as the contours seem to the observer to be displaced. Readjusting for eyesight can compensate minor maladjustment of this kind. However, a headache will be the result if such an instrument is used for any length of time. Such instruments should always be sent in for repair. DIOPTRIC COMPENSATION In binoculars with centre wheel focussing the right eyepiece (in zoom binoculars usually the left) can be turned. This compensates for the user's eyesight deficiencies. In models with single eyepiece adjustment both eyepieces can be turned as they also serve to adjust the focus.

EYE DISTANCE (EYEPIECE) The binoculars can be swivelled about the centre axis, making them adjustable to the user's eye spacing. The distance between the eyes is correctly set if the user sees a single circular image. The eye distance is measured from the centre of the left eyepiece lens to the centre of the right one. EYEPIECE CUPS These connect the eyepiece and the eyes. Nearly all models have cups that can be turned down. They are connected to the eyepiece rings. Their functions are twofold: a) The soft rubber reduces the pressure on the eyes during lengthy observation. b) They can be folded down to accommodate users with spectacles. This shortens the distance between the eyepiece lens and the eye. Spectacle wearers thus have the entire field of vision of their binoculars available to them. FIELD OF VIEW This is understood to mean the visible image at a distance of 1,000 meters from the object being observed. It is usually given in meters. If given as an angle, 1° = 17.5m. An instrument with a field of vision over 120 m/1,000m is called "large field", over 140/1,000m "wide angle". Wide-angle instruments are particularly suitable for moving objects such as footballs or horses. GALILEAN BINOCULARS Binoculars without prisms. Nowadays opera glasses are virtually the only type made applying this principle. The user's field of vision is especially wide in such instruments but magnification is restricted to a maximum of 4-5x. LUMINOUS INTENSITY, general information The luminous intensity quantifies the brightness of a pair of binoculars. Under normal circumstances a 7x50 pair (L.S. 51) yields much greater intensity than 10x50 (L.S. 25). To exploit the greater intensity of 7x50s it is essential the user's pupils be enlarged to the size of the instrument's exit pupil [AP] (in 7x50 = AP 7.14). In older people (over 50) the pupil often doesn't open to maximum extent. In such cases the higher luminosity cannot be exploited. LUMINOUS INTENSITY, geometric The geometric luminous intensity is the mathematical brightness value of a pair of binoculars. Models with higher luminous intensity are especially suited to observation at twilight. Formula for calculating luminous intensity: (lens Ø: magnification) 2 e.g. 50 : 10 = 5x5 = 25

This calculation disregards any features improving performance such as BAK-4 prisms, multicoating, optical glass quality, etc. Such performance improvements are made clear by calculating the relative luminous intensity. LUMINOUS INTENSITY, relative Relative luminous intensity is the modern expression used to signify use of specially coated lenses and barium crown glass (BAK-4) increasing this intensity. Our binoculars have e.g. up to 60% higher luminous intensity than simple uncoated prism glasses. NIGHT BINOCULARS These are binoculars with a high geometric and relative luminous intensity (e.g. 7x50, 8x56, 9x63, etc.) The BRESSER 8x56 Spezial JAGD is an outstanding night instrument. RED OR RUBY COATING This is a coating of 7 to 15 layers of ruby-coloured mineral steamed onto the objective lens. It increases image contrast in sunlight as the red spectrum is mainly filtered out. However, the luminous intensity of the instrument is reduced by approximately 7%. RESIDUAL LIGHT AMPLIFIERS Such amplifiers were designed for use at night. Even at night there is residual light (starlight, moonlight, etc.). This is electronically amplified in the instrument up to 50,000 times. Use of an additional LASER greatly improves the capabilities of residual light amplifiers. The resultant electronic image cannot be compared in focus and detail with the optical image yielded by prismatic instruments.

ROOF BINOCULARS These are state-of-the-art binoculars. Precisely ground roof prisms are used to obtain a virtually linear beam path. This means binoculars can be made very slim and handy in size. There is no difference in quality between such models and the standard Porro binoculars. Typical models: 8x56 Spezial Jagd and 10x24 Montana. RUBBER ARMOUR Binoculars with rubber armour are advisable for rugged professional uses. The black or olive green rubber armour protects the instrument against splashing, dropping and impacts. The armour on our instruments has fast colouring and is proof against sunlight. RUBBER EYEPIECE CUPS See: EYEPIECE CUPS SPECTACLE WEARER EYEPIECES See: EYEPIECE CUPS TRIPOD CONNECTION Many binoculars have a tripod thread built-in. They can be screwed onto a tripod using an adaptor and then guarantee a static image. TWILIGHT OUTPUT The twilight output number quantifies binocular visual performance and detail visibility. Nach dem Tode von Josef Bresser übernahm sein Sohn Rolf Bresser im Jahre 1979 die Firma. Seine Hauptaufgabe sah er in der technischen Weiterentwicklung und im Design von neuen, innovativen optischen Produkten. Die Produktpalette von BRESSER wurde im Laufe der Zeit ständig ausgebaut. So sind in den zurückliegenden Jahrzehnten viele patentierte Produktlösungen in allen optischen Bereichen entwickelt worden. Deshalb können Sie heute sicher sein, mit dem Kauf eines BRESSER-Artikels ein modernes und durchdachtes Produkt zu erwerben.
