Gulf of Mexico (GoMex) Route Operations Guidance This document is provided by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic Organization (ATO) Oceanic and Offshore Operations (AJE-32) at FAA Headquarters. The “GoMex Route Operations Guidance” document on page 3 was developed and coordinated between Houston and Miami ARTCC, SENEAM Headquarters and Merida and Monterrey Centers. Page 4 is a chart of the new GoMex route structure that is effective as of Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 0630 UTC. The purpose of the “GoMex Route Operations Guidance” document is to inform operators of the policies that will normally be applicable to operation on individual GoMex routes and route segments within the new GoMex route structure. The document contains provisions for: one-way routing, recommended arrival routing, altitude and time restrictions and GoMex overflight routing. It should be understood that operational factors, such as weather, can lead ATC managers to apply different operational policies to individual routes or route segments if required. If the aircraft is capable of flying a published Cancun arrival, then the arrival should be filed in the ICAO flight plan. If the aircraft is NOT capable of flying a published Cancun arrival, then the routing shown in the table below should be filed and aircraft can expect radar vectors to the IAF. See “Additional Information” below for more information on Cancun arrivals. 2. Cozumel arrivals are not yet published. Operators should follow the point to point arrival routing guidance below. 3. For more information on Cancun and Cozumel arrivals and departures, see the “Additional Information” section that follows this table. NOTE: The Gulf of Mexico Route Operations Guidance document is intended to provide en-route guidance only. It is not intended to override airport specific procedures. AIRWAY

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 1. CANCUN/COZUMEL DEPARTURES: what departure transition procedures will be used from Cancun and Cozumel? ANSWER: Radar vectors will be provided to join the NEW RNAV routes. You should file: MMUN / CUN M219 XOPGI UM219 SNAKR, etc. or MMUN / CUN UT27 OMVIP, etc. and expect an ATC clearance to join the route after departure. 2. CANCUN/COZUMEL ARRIVALS: what arrival procedures are published for Cancun and Cozumel? a. CANCUN: The new Arrival Procedures to Cancun Airport are published in the Mexican AIP: ANEXO AL SUP 01/13 10-ENE-2013 “AD-MMUN-LL-1” and “AD-MMUN-LL-2”. Pilots will be cleared to these arrivals when in contact with MID CCA if they are capable of flying them. The fixes are on the new routes. b. COZUMEL: Arrival procedures are not yet published for Cozumel. At this time, operators should follow the point to point arrival routing guidance provided in the Gulf of Mexico Route Operations Guidance table above. See Advisory notes on previous page for guidance on filing and flying Cancun arrivals. 3. FLIGHT PLANNING EMPHASIS ITEM: Operators must file the route designators applicable in Monterrey and Merida airspace and those applicable in Houston and Miami Oceanic airspace. For example, the HIGH altitude route segment between Tampico (TAM) and CLONN in Monterrey airspace must be filed as UM575 and the segment between CLONN and Tibby (TBD) in Houston airspace must be filed as M575. In the Gulf of Mexico, the FAA does not differentiate between HIGH and LOW routes while SENEAM does.
