INTRODUCTION The course aim is to offer professional education in the different roles of the fashion system. COURSE OVERVIEW Throughout the three years of the course, students will gradually acquire knowledge and skills. The first year gives them basic technical, technological, representation, method and cultural tools. Many subjects are taught in labs, in order to get to know the materials, their applications and the tools for fashion manufacture. During the second year, students learn, apply and develop the methods of design in different fields, such as fashion design, accessories design and textile design. They define their knowledge of pattern making and sampling and go through the steps that lead from the project to the sample. At the same time, they acquire new cultural tools and the ability to interpret different visual languages. During this year, also marketing dynamics for fashion and industrial design are learnt. Some optional subjects (performing techniques, illustration and photography) allow the students to go in depth in their own interests and to choose a specialization course. It is during this second year that students will define their career path by choosing between Fashion Design and Fashion styling and communication. During the third year students will design and carry out their own thesis project for fashion, within the previously identified scope. Depending on the chosen specialization, the course includes the design of an entire collection, its representative technical development, the manufacture of several outfits for a catwalk show, or the creation of corporate identity for a fashion collection, from the logo to the press communicates, videos, photoshooting and creation of a communication event. A common workshop for the two specializations focuses on the main communication and event design systems, and on the synergy between product and communication designers. The optional subjects allow the students to complement their project design knowledge in areas that are linked to fashion, such as decoration, costumes and design. As for the cultural area, it is possible to choose a course between history of cinema and aesthetics.
