Family and Community Services Coordinator CLAN WA is a community based, not-for-profit organisation that focusses on strengthening families by working alongside them to develop their strengths and resilience. We offer support and encouragement in parenting, relationships, connecting to local community resources and reducing or managing the impact of mental illness on the family. We have an opportunity for a Family and Community Services Coordinator in the Perth Metropolitan area. The main focus in this position is to assist the families in the Swan area who have a child who has a mental illness or who is at risk of developing one. The position is a full time position. Flexible work arrangements will be considered depending on the program and the successful applicant’s needs. The position is fixed term up to 30 June 2016 and may be extended subject to available funding. Child and Family focus o Assessment and provision of individualised support to child o Strengthen families to develop effective parenting, relationship and communication strategies Maintaining and developing network of contacts in relation to promote Talk it Out



Education and training o Assist in the delivery and development of CLAN WA training and community workshops as required o Maintain appropriate licensing/accreditation to enable delivery of accredited education programs



Support and Supervision of staff o Support and supervision of volunteers working with families as required o Support and supervision of other staff, contractors, and/or facilitators as required



Volunteer Program o Assist the Coordinator Volunteer Focus in the running of the CLAN WA volunteer program



Administration o Maintain clear record of work performed o Provide professional verbal and/or written reports when required



Team focus o Assist in ensuring all staff are using correct CLAN WA processes o Provide team support as required



Other duties as directed

Hours: 37.5 hours/ week

Education Requirements   

Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Early Childhood Education , Human Services, Community Services, Mental Health or equivalent Training qualifications and experience Competent computer literacy

Key duties  Child & Family focus o Assessment the child/children’s support needs o Provision of individualised support for the child o Work in conjunction with child’s parents to ensure child’s needs are met o Strengthen families via community based assessment and follow up o Awareness of the differing needs of the parents, carers and children within a family o Referral for family members to other community agencies as required o Assist families to develop effective parenting, relationship and communication strategies Other duties 

Maintaining and developing network of contacts in relation to promote Talk it Out including: o Schools o Community organisations o Government Agencies including Child Health Centres, Child Parent Centres



Education and training o Facilitate and/or assist in education and training and community workshops as required. This may include  Course development, review and evaluation and/or delivery  Community workshops  CLAN WA volunteer training  CLAN WA Internal staff training  Professional training o Maintain appropriate licensing/accreditation to be able fulfil training duties for accredited/licensed courses



Volunteer Program o Link volunteers with families as required o Work with Volunteer Focus Coordinator in screening and training volunteers as required o Work with Volunteer Focus Coordinator to provide support for volunteers as required



Support and Supervision of staff o Support and supervision of volunteers working with families o Support and supervision of other staff/contractors/facilitators as required



Administration o Maintain clear record of work performed o Provide professional verbal and/or written reports when required
