Creating Connections Through Extending Christ’s Love

FAITH EVANGELICAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH NOVEMBER 2016 Greetings in the name of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ! In between hot and cold temperatures, leaves falling and the Cubs going to the World Series for the first time since 1945, the fall is here. Tradition is here. Change is here. Jesus Christ is ever ready to lead HIS Church and save souls. The Bible teaches us in the Old Testament: Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” On Friday, November 4th, 6:30pm, the Faith church family will celebrate its 100TH HARVEST HOME meal and Special Offering, Joash Chest (2 Chronicles 24)! We will meet in the sanctuary after the nourishing Thanksgiving meal to celebrate God’s faithfulness and goodness. The children’s choirs and adult choir will offer anthems. The praise team will contribute too. A special and designated offering to support sanctuary projects will be collected. We hope to see y’all there for this wonderful and important time of food, fellowship, worship, and honoring God! We will remain on the move as a Faith family as we prepare for our first Accessible Hearts gathering in a community setting on Sunday, November 13th, 3pm, at the Elmhurst Library -- the Large Meeting Room on the First Floor. Invitation cards are on the table in front of the church office. But let’s back up for a moment. On October 16th, we launched our first Accessible Hearts Worship experience at Elmhurst CRC. We launched there because our friends in Christ at Elmhurst CRC have a fully accessible physical facility. It was on that special evening that I communicated part of my God-given vision to reach individuals and families with Special Needs. We gathered as a Church and greater community to experience a more inclusive and support-based worship experience, all in Christ’s name. We had almost 200 people attend and multiple people surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ. This is what the core launch team had been praying for. The theme song for the movement is “God Is On The Move” by 7eventh Time Down. A family from Rockford, IL traveled to worship with us. Praise God for answered prayer and new life! God is convicting hearts and changing lives through Accessible Hearts. The question is, will you come and see what Jesus is doing and join the movement? It’s a step of faith and will be completely worth it if you cross over to journey with people of all ages and abilities. This is God’s Kingdom movement! This fall, we will celebrate familiar and brand new experiences for Jesus Christ! I love you and there’s nothing you can do about it. May we walk by faith and not by sight. AMEN. In the HOPE & LOVE of Jesus Christ, -Pastor Jason

Christian Education for Children Ages Preschool through 5th Grade during Worship We are looking to start something new to meet the needs of our children during our Sunday morning worship services. Instead of having an earlier Sunday School time, we are looking to organize a program during the worship service. In doing this, we will have a program in place for our own children and for children when they come with their families to visit. We are looking for individuals who are willing to be part of the team to help out one Sunday every four to six weeks. We would like to have two helpers each week. Curriculum and assistance will be provided. Children will be dismissed during the greeting time and return to the sanctuary during the singing of the last hymn. If you are interested in helping out with a Children’s Ministry program during the worship services for children ages kindergarten through 5th grade, please come to a meeting following the worship service on November 13. We are hoping to start the program on November 30. For more information, please see Angela Sanders-Mud or Jane Ahrens. _____________________________________________________________________________________

The Worship Committee will be in charge of decorating the sanctuary and the downstairs area. Please stay following the service to help in the decorating. With a lot of help we’ll be done in no time at all! The Worship Committee will serve lunch after the work is done. For more information or if you have any questions, please contact Mae Kingzette at 708-415-3637.

Educational & Service Opportunities News from the Church Library There are several new books in the Church Library. Don’t forget we have books for teens and young adults as well. Also check out the Children’s Library downstairs. We are a self serve library. Please sign you name on the card inside the book or video/DVD and file it in the card file according to the author’s last name. We have a number of overdue books and DVDs out. Please check your bookshelves to see if you have any books or DVDs that belong in the church library. I recently went to the Evangelical Church Library Conference held at College Church, in Wheaton. I was reminded once again at the conference the value of having a church library and the power of books to change lives. What a better way to not be conformed to the world and to renew your mind (Romans 12:2) by checking out a book from the church library. We have a great selection of fiction and non fiction books. Even though we have a small library, we do have a number of people who use the library. Thanks to Angie Soto who has helped with displaying the books. If anyone else is willing to do book reviews, and in general help with processing and getting new books into the library, please let me know If you love to read and have an interest in the ministry of the Church Library, please contact me at [email protected] or 630-834-2965. If you know of a book you would like to see in the Church Library, please let me know that as well. Thanks for your help!
