Movie in the Park
Saturday, October 15 Fort Island Park (413 Trunko Rd)
The movie screen will be on the basketball courts and we will have
a camp fire ready to make s’mores and marshmallows before the movie. We will also have popcorn, cider and other goodies so bring your blankets and chairs and enjoy a movie in the park! Hocus Pocus will start as soon as it is dark enough (about 7:30).

NATURE PROGRAMS Nature Programs are held at the Fort Island Park Learning Resource Center (413 Trunko Road) and the surrounding park. Dress Requirements: Participants are required to wear shoes or boots, dress appropriately for the weather (we hike rain or shine), and dress to get messy. Some suggestions for outdoor programs are: Water-proof shoes or boots, gloves and hats, sunscreen and/or bug spray applied before the program. A water bottle is recommended. Please make arrangements for siblings as only those children registered may attend the program. Refund requests must be made 72 hours prior to start of class, after that there are no refunds. Fall Winter Hours: Monday - Friday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturdays 10:00 am - 2:00 pm October-November (hours change in December)

Yoga for Adults and Seniors
Wednesdays 10:00 am-11:00 am Join us at the LRC for an hour of gentle stretching and yoga poses while listening to meditative music. Good for the health of body and soul.

Fall Park Cleanup Day
Monday, November 28 11:00 am - 4:00 pm No school today? This is a good time to help us keep your park free of trash and debris. Gloves and trash bags will be provided.
Great Backyard Bird Count
December 18 Those wishing to participate can come in anytime before December 18 and pick up a Birds of Ohio field checklist, some free ID guides and accompanying bird sounds CDs, all provided by the Ohio Division of Wildlife. Counts are due in on December 18.

Second Monday of months Oct-May 1:00 – 2:30 pm Lessons will be held indoors and outdoors. Lessons are geared primarily to children in second through sixth grade and meets the elementary science standards as defined by the Ohio Department of Education.

You will learn how to identify 10 common birds that you may see on any given day, their nesting habits, and their diet. Join us for an hour of closeups with Checkers the Great Plains Rat Snake, see our box turtles run a turtle race, watch Talulah, Dora, and Boots the ferrets chase and climb, and other encounters.

Art Night: Poetry, Artwork, Photography

Summer Recreation Leaders Wanted for 2017 Seasonal position for our daily, outdoor ten-week park program, June 5 - August 11 with some weekend and evening events. Must be energetic, personable, enjoy interacting with children and their families, have valid driver’s license, clear background check and drug test on orientation day and be available the entire 10 weeks (no vacations). All events take place on the first Monday of the month (unless otherwise dated) at 11:00 am at the Fairlawn Kiwanis Community Center (3486 S. Smith Road). Coffee, tea and water will be provided at each event. Homemade desserts are always welcome!

Overnight Parking Fairlawn has an overnight parking ordinance (COF 452.08) that is enforced. Parking on city streets is prohibited between the hours of 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM. If you have a special temporary circumstance, such as out of town guests or driveway repairs, contact the Police Department at 330670-4300 and they will extend courtesy to you.

Cancellation/Refund Policy for all Fairlawn Parks and Recreation Events:
Due to the overwhelming success of our programs and the number of children that are put on waiting lists we have implemented the following policy: Refund requests must be made 72 hours prior to start of class, program or activity, and provided the request does not drop the enrollment below the required minimum, after that there are no refunds. Failure to attend a registered class, program or activity will be considered a forfeiture of materials supplied and all money paid.
Please Note... Classes/programs are canceled if the Copley-Fairlawn schools are closed due to weather
