A WORD FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Dear Residents: I am pleased to introduce Redmond Area Park and Recreation District’s Winter/Spring 2017 Recreation Guide. We are committed to continuing to offer a wide range of worthwhile programs for all age groups, from infants to seniors that are designed to keep you active, learning new skills and provide opportunities to socialize. As you look through this recreation guide, we hope that you will find at least one new program that you or a family member wants to participate in. We will be partnering with the City of Redmond again this year to operate the Redmond Ice Rink in downtown Redmond during the winter season. Ice skating is a great way to be active and mingle during the cold weather. This fun, family friendly rink is open daily for both free skate times (if you have your own skates) and paid times, where our staff is available to rent skates. The ice skating season is expected to run until the end of February. RAPRD is offering some new fitness programs this season at both the Activity Center and the Cascade Swim Center. We are offering Yoga Vinyasa classes and Kids yoga at the Activity Center and will be offering a POOLates® introduction and instructor training so we can add POOLates® classes to the water fitness classes currently offered. For class schedules and more details, check out page 12 of this guide or check the weekly schedules on our website. In addition to participating in activities and programs, there are many ways to get involved at RAPRD. We welcome you to volunteer as a coach, for swim lessons, in the Adventure Quest program, for a special event or on a committee. It is you our volunteers that make our programs, events and committees successful. We are always thankful for our volunteers. The public is also welcome at our Board of Directors meetings which occur the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 am. The board meeting agendas and minutes are posted on our website at http://raprd.org/AboutUs/board.html. We post 12 months with 5-6 years archived. Our staff appreciates any suggestions you may have to improve the programs currently offered or to add new ones. Please feel free to contact us at (541) 548-7275 or [email protected] with your suggestions and recommendations. Want to stay up to date on program happenings? A Word to Parents Our aquatic staff of American Red Cross certified lifeguards strive to maintain the highest standards in emergency training. Our goal is to provide our patrons with a safe, clean atmosphere in which families can enjoy themselves in a recreational environment. The purpose of the aquatic staff is not to supervise your child, but to prevent accidents from happening. Therefore, parents are expected to closely supervise their children and assist in enforcing the policies for safety and enjoyment of all patrons. All children below 42” in height or 7 years and younger must be accompanied and supervised in the facility at all times by a responsible adult.
