Fax: +55 (31) 3589-7403 Prof. Claudio Boechat has been a professor, researcher and project manager at Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC), Brazil, since 2002. He graduated as electrical Engineer from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil, 1979), and holds a specialization degree in Economic Engineering (1995). Prior to joining FDC, Claudio Boechat was an executive at CEMIG Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais SA - where he held several managerial positions, particularly in the domain of quality promotion and control. At FDC, Claudio Boechat was actively involved in the creation of the “Andrade Gutierrez Nucleus of Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility” which he has been heading since then. His present professional activities centre on knowledge development in the field of responsible and sustainable business management. Claudio Boechat is a representative in the Globally Responsible Leaders Initiative and in the UN Global Compact Task Force for Principles for Responsible Management Education. Since May 2004 Mr. Thomas Dodd has been a member of the Corporate Social Responsibility Team in the Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission. He has contributed to the development of the European Commission Policy on CSR, and has worked on a number of initiatives to support responsible entrepreneurship and the uptake of CSR amongst small and medium-sized enterprises. He started working for the European Commission in 1995, managing emergency humanitarian assistance to various African countries. He subsequently completed a four-year posting in the Commission’s Delegation in Central America (Nicaragua). Thomas Dodd holds a first class honours degree in European Community Studies and Spanish from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and a Masters Degree in European Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.

Pamela Hay is Program Manager and Senior Trade Commissioner of the Embassy's International Business Development Program in Austria, for Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. She leads and manages a team of senior Austrian Commercial Officers to conceive and implement trade, investment and technology promotion programmes between Canada and Austria focused on the private sector, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs). She also represents the Canadian position on trade policy and access issues as they affect the Canada-EU relationship. Ms. Hay has 18 years of experience in private sector development, trade and investment promotion and renewable energy promotion in the context of climate change projects. She has served the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service abroad in Japan and Austria and has had responsibility for countries in 4 continents, with a focus on developing countries with respect to CO2 emission reduction projects. She has worked for 2 different federal departments, liaised extensively with Canadian and foreign ministries and industry, and cooperated with NGOs, development agencies and multilateral development banks, namely the ADB, WB, EBRD and Canada’s Export Development Agency. Ms. Hay holds a Masters of International Affairs and is doing a Master of Science in Renewable Energies (in progress).

He has been involved with the training and education programme “People and Profit”, which aims at supporting Danish SMEs in their work on CSR. Besides, he is running a Nordic project on CSR-driven innovation, a two-year programme aiming at strengthening Nordic SMEs innovating new products and services while taking social and environmental considerations. The project will address both Nordic and international challenges to be solved by CSR-driven innovation solutions.

Mr. Jensen obtained an MA from the Copenhagen University and a European Master in Human Rights and Democratisation. Prior to his position with the Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs, he has several years of experience within CSR, human rights and development, e.g. from the Danish Institute for Human Rights (2000-2004).

After graduating as civil engineer, Mr. Utama Kajo worked at several construction companies. In 1980, he went back to university to study Business Administration in Singapore with a view to start his own business (export and import to and from world markets). In 1984 he joined the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICC-I) where he served at Deputy Chairman for Public Policy, Executive Director for the Corporate Governance Committee and Chairman for entrepreneurship R&D. In that period he was also in charge of coordinating Secretariats for WTO Negotiating Working Group. Since 2004, he is Chairman for the Standing Committee on Public Policy, ICC-I. At the same time, Mr. Kajo serves as board member in the Indonesian API Culture Association, Indonesian Handicraft Producers and Exporters Association, the Indonesian Exhibition and Convention Association, and the Indonesian Tooth Brush Manufacture Association.

After a first work experience as a Human Resources Officer in the Belgian public telecom enterprise, she joined the research and consultancy department of Agence Alter. She worked as a project leader on policy preparation and consultancy projects in the fields of social economy and public business support to entrepreneurs for different policy levels: regional, federal and European level. She contributed to the first Belgian bilingual newsletter on corporate social responsibility “Alter Business

News” as author of several articles and as advisor. At the end of 2004 Ida Ira Lardinois joined the cabinet of the Belgian Secretary of State for Sustainable Development and Social Economy, her actual employer. She participated in the working group on CSR of the Interdepartmental Commission for Sustainable Development that produced the Belgian Reference Framework and Action Plan for Corporate Social Responsibility. She is amongst other tasks responsible for different awareness raising projects on sustainable development and CSR in Belgium.

He heads AccountAbility’s research and development programmes, leading the annual “State of Responsible Competitiveness” report and managing the MFA Forum (promoting productivity and decent work in the textile trade). He has worked on sustainability and corporate responsibility strategies in countries ranging from Finland and Canada to Nicaragua and Croatia. From 1996 to 1999 he sat on the UN expert group on sustainability indicators and until 2001 he was deputy director of the New Economics Foundation. Mr. MacGillivray has an MA from Oxford and an MSc from Imperial College. He speaks English, French and Spanish. His latest book A Brief History of Globalization was published in 2006.

After working with the Salzburg Provincial Government (National Park Hohe Tauern), the European Federation for Nature and National Parks (Germany), he joined the Parliamentary Club of the Liberale Forum as political consultant where he became adviser to the party leader in the domains of law and constitution. Afterwards he was working as office manager at the European Parliament, later at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Federal Minister Dr. Wolfgang Schüssel, Presidency of the OSCE - Balkan Desk, the same position also with Foreign Minister Dr. Ferrero-Waldner, followed by a year in Kosovo as deputy head of the Democratization Department of the OSCE, finally three years partner in a Public Affairs Agency in Vienna. Since October 2004 he is owner and CEO of “The CSR Company”, a consultancy specialized on Corporate Social Responsibility. Mr. Neureiter also serves as Task Group Leader within the International Standards Organization for the writing of the ISO 26000 guidance standard on Social Responsibility to be published in 2009/2010 and leads the Austrian delegation to ISO. At the same time he is Chairman of the Austrian standardization committee 251 “CSR” in the Austrian Standardization Institute (ON). As CSR consultant he has worked with companies in Austria, Germany, India, Mongolia, Switzerland, Romania, Serbia, and Azerbaijan, to name a few. She is also responsible for the Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) Annual Conference and communications. For almost 20 years Diane has provided strategic leadership and consulting services on sustainable development for multinational corporations, multilateral institutions and NGOs worldwide. She has worked with clients including DuPont, the World Bank, WWF, Monsanto, Sigma Alimentos and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. Her focus is on corporate strategy, base of the pyramid solutions, community engagement and the role of new media in promoting sustainability. She serves as a global mediator among civil society groups, corporations and academics, initiating codes of conduct, integrating micro-credit into business operations, making the business case for poverty alleviation, developing ground-breaking tri-sector partnerships and presenting policy recommendations to US and European governments. Widely published in both business and academic journals, Diane earned her doctorate in Environmental Economics and Development Studies at the London School of Economics (1998), her MSc in Development Studies (Economics) at the London School of Economics (1992), and her BA in Economics at the University of San Francisco (1986). She began her career as a portfolio manager at Merrill Lynch in Switzerland.

Her main areas of activity are international aspects, awareness and communication, as well as development of CSR strategies. She is also experienced in corporate foundations and conducted research in the field of Global Public Policy Networks

(GPPN). She developed CSR best practice teaching cases for business schools curricula. At the international level, Ms. Peters provided project-based CSR consultancy in Latin America. Currently she is implementing together with the Club of Rome a dialogue-series for young professionals and German CEOs on CSR related issues. Her last publication is “The CSR Navigator – public policies in Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe” – an international investigation that traces the profiles of national CSR policies and provides a specific tool for further developing CSR policy initiatives. He is responsible for developing new policies and implementing processes aimed at facilitating workers and their employers find amicable solutions to their employment disputes though conciliation and mediation efforts. He also participates actively in tripartite initiatives at the national level, such as the formation of the Singapore Compact. Prior to his current position, Boon Leng had a wide range of experiences formulating foreign manpower policies and manpower skills needs through his numerous postings within the Ministry of Manpower, Singapore. He was also seconded to the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), where he actively helped forged collaborative partnerships between employers and the Unions in providing skills training and career development for their workers. Boon Leng graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Degree (with Honours) from the National University of Singapore, where he also attained a MSc. In Building Science. Boon Leng also obtained a MSc. (with Distinction) in International Employment Relations and Human Resource Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and was also awarded the Basil Blackwell prize by the School’s Department of Industrial Relations for outstanding overall performance.

He worked in the Philippine government in the field of economic planning (National Economic Development Agency), and banking and credit (Technical Board for Agricultural Credit) and was deputed to UN-Food and Agriculture Organization to work with the Asia Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (APRACA) in Bangkok, Thailand. In 1986, he became the Secretary General of APRACA where he developed the program Linking Banks with Self-Help Groups, now the largest poverty alleviation program in India. Afterwards Mr. Quinones worked as Project Manager of the Asian Development Bank funded Cooperative Strengthening Project and joined the Asian and Pacific Development Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as Regional Coordinator for Poverty Alleviation and Rural Development. In 1993 he founded the Ventures and Entrepreneurship Development Center in the Orient (VEDCOR) and designed the Bayanihan Savings Program (BSP). In 2003, Mr. Quinones founded the Coalition of Socially Responsible SMEs in Asia (CSRSME Asia), initiated the Asian Forum for Solidarity Economy in collaboration with Charles Leopold Mayer Foundation of France, and designed the Bayanihan Banking Window in collaboration with Planters Development Bank. Amongst others, he serves as president to SPACE (microfinance network funded by French organization Entrepreneurs du Monde), is the head of head of Socio-Economic and Entrepreneurship Development Department of CLSF, Philippines, and is Board Member of Tekton Business Development Organization. Since the late 90´s to 2004, Ernesto Samayoa worked in the apparel industry as manager of one of the biggest manufacturing companies from El Salvador, having close relations with brands representatives to implement and improve codes of conduct of the company. In early 2005, he began to coordinate a CSR program funded by the World Bank in partnership with FUNDEMAS (the local CSR NGO) and the Ministry of Economy as resident consultant and advisor to the Minister. The program focused on three key industrial sectors: apparel, sugar and coffee, with the objective to start to build a CSR framework as a development tool for El Salvador. Since March 2006, he has been simultaneously coordinating a USAID funded program on environment, and the CSR tasks at the Ministry of Economy, in coordination with other governmental and private entities. In April 2005, he participated at the third Caribbean and Central American CSR conference, held in San Pedro Sulas, Honduras. In November 2005, Mr. Samayoa was invited to participate as speaker at the Annual Conference of the Business for Social Responsibility, Questioning Assumptions – Changing Frameworks, held in Washington, DC. In the past two years he has participated as speaker for several opportunities to discuss on CSR and the governmental roles, and the advantages of implementing it at Salvadoran SMEs.

For more than three years Ms. Schmid worked with an Austrian NGO (HORIZONT3000) in Ecuador, where she was responsible for technical assistance at the local university for a special course for micro-entrepreneurs. In 2005, she started working with the Austrian Development Agency in the unit for Private Sector Development. In addition to her other tasks she took over the responsibility for ADA’s strategy regarding CSR in development cooperation just this month.

After finishing commercial academy, she spent one year working in France. Continuing with her commercial education she studied International Business Administration on the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration in Austria as well as at the Universidad de Complutense de Madrid, Spain, and the Universitatea Ovidius Constanta in Romania. Ms. Spatzierer specialised on International Development Economics and wrote her thesis on “The sustainability of PublicPrivate Partnerships Projects of Development Cooperation”. This implied a study trip to Nicaragua where projects in the cocoa, coffee and energy sectors were evaluated through interviews with project managers and the public. Before entering the Austrian Development Agency, Sandra Spatzierer worked several years in the communication sector in Austria, Switzerland and Spain. In the Austrian Development Agency, Ms. Spatzierer is responsible for the initiation, planning and implementation of business and development partnerships together with Austrian companies. The aim of private sector partnerships is to maximize the positive development effects of private business relations and investments and in this way not only to facilitate economic success but also to initiate long-term improvements in the living and economic conditions in the partner countries.

Most recently his expertise has been devoted to sustainability, corporate social responsibility, business climate, infrastructure finance, financial market development and micro and SME finance in emerging economies. He has led the IDB efforts in Sustainability, producing the IDB's first Sustainability Report and creating the Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Initiative. He has been a member of the Investment Committee of the Pension Fund of the Bank (currently over US$2.5 billion in assets) for 25 years, 15 of which as Vice-Chairman. Mr. Vives has also been a lecturer in more than 100 international conferences, on CSR, infrastructure finance, financial markets development, business climate and micro and SME finance. He has been a professor at the IESA Graduate School of Management in Venezuela, and at the graduate business schools of Carnegie Mellon, George Washington and Virginia Tech universities. Mr. Vives holds a degree in Chemical Engineering, a master's degree in Industrial Administration (MBA), and a Ph.D. in Finance (Corporate Finance and Capital Markets), both from the business school of Carnegie Mellon University. In her function she also acts as local trainer and consultant on Social Management System under InWEnt’s programme on Social Standard Exchange of Experience in Southeast Asia and Practical Learning (SEAL). The Programme works through research, advocacy and in collaboration with partners - mostly in middle and low income countries – to identify practical ways of maximizing positive business contributions to sustainable development. The public policy dimension of “business and sustainable development” and a focus on the importance of creating local agendas on responsible business are overarching features of the Progamme’s work. In 2006-7, Ms. Ward spent an extended period based in Almaty, Kazakhstan, focusing on the relationship between oil and gas contracts and sustainable development in the country. She has also recently completed a project, together with partners in Kosovo, to develop a public policy framework for mining and community development and community consultation there. Before joining IIED in 2001, Ms. Ward was a Senior Fellow with the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House). She has also worked for environmental consultancy ERM and as a solicitor practising commercial environment law. Ms. Ward has an LLM in Law and Development and an LLB from the University of London. Her working career includes university teaching in Chile and the UK, policy-oriented work for the OECD, the Organization of American States (OAS), and UNRISD, and for the Government of Malta; coestablishing the International Broadcasting Trust (a non-profit making film production company) that produced documentaries on global development issues for the BBC and Channel 4 in the UK. For several years she was on the senior staff at the Geneva-based South Centre, an intergovernmental body of developing countries, where she worked on various policy issues that were being negotiated in the WTO or discussed elsewhere in the UN, as well as preparing policy documents for meetings of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Group of 77. She is lecturing on CSR issues, and advises NGOs, public agencies and private sector entities on CSR implementation. Ms. Zielberg is also member of the ISO Working Group for the development of a guidance standard on social responsibility (ISO26000) and participates in the Editing Committee for this standard. At the same time she is a member of the Israeli Expert Group that developed the Israeli Standard for Social Responsibility (IS10000). Before that, she devoted herself for many years to the journalistic profession, both as a writer and senior editor. Ms. Zielberg studied Psychology (in Bar-Ilan University in Israel), worked first as Educational Psychologist and later as Organizational Psychologist (mainly with the service industry in Israel).
