In May 2013, Rustins Limited acquired Briwax. The Briwax range includes wax polish and sprays to restore, revive and keep all your wood furniture in pristine condition. Briwax original is ideal for woodcarvings and turned wood, for floors and skirting. It cleans and protects wood, metalwork even melamine. Briwax is available in clear, which maintains the natural colour of the wood, and 13 wood shades to stain and wax in one operation.

Rustins purchased Stone’s in June 2016 whose range includes furniture polish and leather cream that dates back to 1760 in Exeter, England.

In February 2016, Rustins acquired Wudcare Products. This includes a range of adhesives with excellent binding properties as well as Wudfil fillers in a range of colours that are easily sanded and stained.

NATURAL BEEsWAX Available in 250ml Antiquax Natural Beeswax is based on pure natural beeswax for use on previously sealed surfaces and is made from the highest quality waxes to clean, polish and protect wooden furniture. How to use: Simply use a clean lint free cloth and apply the Beeswax in the direction of the wood grain where possible. To obtain a consistent finish, always wipe evenly, blending the Beeswax over the whole surface area.

BRoWN WAX PoLIsH Available in 100ml, 250ml and 5L Antiquax Brown Wax is a solid wax based upon superlative natural waxes, specially designed to protect and nourish dark woods such as Mahogany, Dark Oak and Teak. It provides a lasting and durable wax sheen to craftsman standards. How to use: Apply sparingly with a lint free cloth working into and along the grain. Allow to dry to a haze and polish with an Antiquax Polishing Cloth, again, working along the grain to reveal the sheen. Repeat regularly to develop a fine patina and enhance the grain.

LAvENDER WAX PoLIsH Available in 100ml Antiquax Lavender Wax Polish is a superior polish containing a blend of natural waxes and essential oils to improve durability and protect all types of woods. It also contains an exquisite lavender fragrance. How to use: Apply sparingly, using a lint free cloth, in a circular motion. Work well into the surface and allow to dry to a light haze. RING REMovER Available in 200ml Antiquax Ring Remover is easy to use and will gently remove ring marks from polished wooden surfaces, whilst leaving a pleasant citrus fragrance. How to use: Pour onto a lint free cloth and rub with pressure over the mark in the direction of the grain until the mark is removed. If the mark does not disappear apply more Ring Remover and repeat. Buff with an Antiquax Polishing Cloth and then wax if required.

CHoPPING BoARD oIL Available in 200ml Antiquax Anti-Bacterial Chopping Board Oil is a blend of natural plant oils to nourish and protect chopping boards and worktops. The oil penetrates the wood and dries to a clear finish that enhances the natural beauty of wood. Antiquax Chopping Board Oil is food safe and kills E-coli and MRSA on contact. How to use: Apply liberally with a lint free cloth, working with the grain of the wood. Wipe off any excess oil within three to five minutes. Apply the oil to new or bare wood three times initially.

LEATHER CLEANER Available in 250ml Antiquax Leather Cleaner is formulated for use as a general leather cleaner and is suitable for use on all leathers except Suede and NuBuck. This leather cleaning solution contains no solvents or abrasives, allowing it to clean leather safely without causing any damage, yet it is still capable of removing deeply ingrained dirt and grime. How to use: Shake bottle well and pour onto a sponge or cloth then work the cleaner into the leather cleaning in a circular motion. As the cleaner lifts the dirt from the leather, it will be absorbed by the foam created. After cleaning wipe any residues away.

LEATHER RE-CoLoURING BALM Available in 250ml. Black, Cream and Dark Brown Antiquax Leather Re-Colouring Balm restores the colour to faded and worn leather by simply rubbing in with a soft cloth. It is suitable for use on all leathers except Suede and NuBuck. It re-colours areas that have been exposed to sunlight or direct heat, is ideal for colouring cat scratches, and re-colouring worn, dry and faded areas. How to use: Rub the balm into the leather in a circular motion and then wait for 5 minutes for the balm to properly penetrate the leather. Buff over with an Antiquax Polishing Cloth.

Easy and quick to use and no electrolysis required, it not only cleans tarnish from your old, tired and worn out silver-plated articles; it instantaneously replates a fresh layer of pure silver. Can also be used to convert brass, copper and bronze into silver plated items. Silver Maintenance Solution is an exceptional solution that will clean both silver and silver plated items. It also deposits a fresh layer of pure silver on plated silverware and base metals such as brass, copper and bronze. Ideal for articles where silver has slightly worn away. The Maintenance Solution cleans tarnish, replates a thin layer of pure silver and provides a long lasting shine. Ideal for use with the Silver Plating Solution’. How to use: Apply liberally with a clean cloth or sponge. Darkening often occurs as the transfer of silver takes place, rub firmly for 10-15 seconds. Buff lightly with an Antiquax Polishing Cloth. CHANDELIER & CRYSTAL CLEANER Available in 500ml Spray on and watch the dirt and dust fall off. Antiquax Crystal and Chandelier Cleaner is fitted with a special high capacity nozzle that allows the cleaner to spray further than conventional aerosols. This feature makes the process easier, faster and more economical. It also has a pleasant fragrance leaving fine and crystal cut glass surfaces with a streak free sparkling finish. How to use: Always switch power supply off at the mains. If application is located over carpets, or other decorative surfaces, place polythene sheet directly underneath the appliance then plenty of newspapers, old cloths etc on top of it to catch and absorb drips and product “run-off”. Shake can well, stand to one side and spray copiously. Allow to run off the appliance. Repeat if heavily soiled. Allow to dry naturally. Ensure any treated appliance is thoroughly dry before switching power on.

Dr Stone, an Exeter pharmacist, developed Stone’s in Devon in 1760 as a pure polish for furniture. At that time it was probably the only manufactured polish on the market. It is still made today using the same traditional formula from the finest Beeswax, with no artificial ingredients or silicone, and is trusted by collectors and restorers around the world.

Danish Oil A unique formulation developed by Rustins that is suitable for all types of wood. It differs from Teak Oil in that it contains special ingredients to give it a low lustre finish. Indoor Wood Finishes Quick Dry Chopping Board Oil A blend of natural plant oils to nourish and protect chopping boards and worktops. It has a clear finish to enhance the natural beauty of wood. The Oil contains the anti-microbial additive Eradibac with a slow release formula which provide protection against a wide range of bacteria including E-coli and MRSA. Size: 250ml

Plastic Coating Two-part clear cold cure lacquer for use on wood, hardboard, cork and plastic laminates. Extremely good adhesion, resistant to heat, solvents and abrasion. Can be burnished to a mirror like gloss or rubbed down to a smooth, satin finish with steel wool and wax. An excellent finish for marquetry as it does not darken light coloured veneers and does not yellow or craze on ageing. Hard-dry within 2 hours of application. Rustins Plastic Coating conforms to The Articles in Contact with Food Regulations. Sizes: 250ml, IL, 4L. Plus boxed starter pack.

How to... DANISH OIL Preparation: The surface must be clean, bare and sanded smooth. Oily woods (e.g. Teak, Iroko) should be cleaned thoroughly with white spirit to help penetration and improve adhesion. Bare wood may be dyed with Rustins Wood Dye. The dye may also be added to Danish Oil but the colour will be a lighter shade. If a natural opengrain is not required use Rustins Grainfiller before oiling. Application: Using a clean soft cloth or brush apply liberally, then wipe off the excess after a few minutes. For a superior smooth finish the final coat may be applied using a plastic scouring pad, rubbing in the direction of the grain, wiping away the surplus with a soft cloth or paper towels. New or bare wood should be oiled 3 times initially. Re-Coating Time: Allow 4 to 8 hours between applications depending on the temperature and humidity. Maintenance: When applying to previously oiled wood, the surface should be cleaned and wax removed by using white spirit or Rustins Surface Cleaner. Wipe away the solution formed with clean paper towels prior to re-oiling. If the surface develops a slight gloss, this can be removed by rubbing with grade 00 or 000 steel wool and either wax polish or white spirit finishing off with a soft cloth. Coverage: 1 litre will cover approximately 14 sq.m. with 1 coat depending on the absorbency of the wood.

How to...

French Polish

FRENCH POLISH Manufactured from pure shellac and alcohol with a special additive included to facilitate sanding when dry. It is also used to seal wood before waxing and to seal wood dyes to prevent bleeding.

The surface should be clean and smooth. If grain is open, fill with Rustins Grainfiller. Stain if necessary with Rustins Wood Dye. Seal the wood with two coats of Rustins Shellac Sanding Sealer prior to French polishing.

Sizes: 125ml, 300ml, 500ml, 1L

Apply with a “Rubber” made by wrapping a piece of cotton wool in cotton or linen rag the size of a handkerchief.

Button Polish

Pour polish into rubber and squeeze out excess, dab a spot of linseed oil on the rubber, and work in a circular or figure of eight motion. Apply several coats, sandpaper lightly between coats if necessary. Finish using straight even strokes with polish thinned with methylated spirits. Manufactured from pure shellac dissolved in industrial alcohol. More orange in appearance than French Polish. Sizes: 125ml, 300ml, 500ml

Use in a warm, dry atmosphere. Leave 24 hours after last coat to harden. For sealing wood before waxing, apply 2 coats with a brush or rag.

Shellac Sanding Sealer

Manufactured from pure shellac and alcohol with a special additive included to facilitate sanding when dry. It is also used to seal wood before waxing and to seal wood dyes to prevent bleeding. Sizes: 300ml, 500ml, 1L, 4L

Decking Cleaner

The ULTIMATE product for cleaning and reviving weathered garden decking. It is ideal for removing dirt, grease and stains prior to treatment with Rustins Decking Stain & Seal or Rustins Decking Oil. Ready for use – no need to dilute.

Preparation: The surface must be clean, dry and free from wax, algae and mould. Oily woods such as Teak and Iroko should be cleaned thoroughly with white spirit before application. Ensure the timber is dry, as dampness will prevent penetration and result in poor adhesion. Where the deck is weather stained, discoloured, or of poor appearance use Rustins Decking Cleaner to clean and revive the surface. When decking timber is not pre-treated such as with hardwood decking, use Rustins Advanced Wood Preserver on the wood before the oil. It is advisable to test for compatibility on a small area before proceeding further. This will assist in preventing the growth of mould naturally present in the wood. Use Rustins Textured Decking Oil as a topcoat over existing treated decking or any Rustins decking finish applying a minimum of 3 coats. Can be tinted with Rustins solvent based Wood Dye to a maximum of 20% to achieve a coloured finish. Application: Using a clean brush or roller apply liberally and evenly. If applied thinly, this may affect the slip resistance properties. Maintenance: From time to time, depending on exposure and use, decks will need re-oiling to maintain appearance and level of protection. Clean with Rustins Decking Cleaner. Coverage: 1 litre will cover approximately 14 sq metres with 1 coat.

Quick Dry Floor Varnish Rustins Quick Dry Floor Varnish is a hard wearing water based, non-flammable varnish with a low odour. Resistant to water, alcohol, white spirit and similar solvents. Clear Plastic Floor Coating A two-part cold cure lacquer with excellent adhesion and durability. Almost colourless and will not craze or yellow on ageing. Resistant to scratching, abrasion, most solvents, weak acids and alkalis. Can be applied to wood, cork, chipboard, MDF, laminates, slate and stone. Re-coatable after 1-11/2 hours, floor can be used 2 hours after last coat has been applied. Available in gloss and satin finish. Sizes: 1L pack and 4L pack

Polyurethane Floor Sealer A heavy bodied, pale coloured, solvent based polyurethane which gives a tough and durable finish. Resistant to water, alcohol, white spirit and similar solvents. Drying time is 4-6 hours. Can be applied to wood, cork, MDF and old concrete floors. Can be applied to already coated flooring without sanding as long as the surface is clean and free from wax. Available in gloss and satin finish. Sizes: 1L, 2.5L, 5L

How to... QUICK DRY  FLOOR VARNISH Preparation: The floor must be clean, free from wax, grease and dust. Remove all traces of wax polish with wire wool and white spirit. Use a clean rag to remove the mixture of white spirit and wax. It is advisable to repeat this process even if the floor is to be sanded as sanding forces wax further into the wood. Special care should be taken where there are large cracks in the flooring as these can become caked with old wax polish. Large cracks or holes can be filled with Rustins Wood Filler. New or old floors that have been sanded can be stained with Rustins Wood Dye before varnish; other brands of dye may not be compatible. Application: STIR WELL BEFORE AND DURING USE. Do not dilute. Apply very liberally with minimum brushing using large brush or roller, finishing off in direction of the grain with light pressure. It will be touch-dry in approximately 20 minutes. A cold damp atmosphere or high humidity will slow the drying. A second coat can be applied after a minimum of 2 hours. Three liberal coats are usually sufficient but four are recommended on cork. When applied over existing finishes the adhesion will improve over a period of 24–48 hours. Floors can be walked on after 2 hours but should not be subject to heavy wear for 24 hours. Wipe off spillages immediately during first three days. If first or second application raises the grain, sand lightly before applying another coat. It is essential that raised grain is protected by an adequate thickness of varnish. If film thickness is not sufficient to cover raised grain water may be absorbed which will discolour the wood. Do not use less than recommended coverage. Do not pour varnish into an unlacquered metal container; use glass or polythene. Clean brushes immediately after use with water and clean hard brushes with Rustins Cellulose Thinners or Rustins Brush Restorer.

One Coat Damp Seal

A water based matt white stain blocker for interior and exterior use, with excellent adhesion to wood, plaster and previously painted surfaces. It will seal all stains that may bleed through and discolour paint. As a primer, it provides excellent adhesion to ceramic tiles, glass, and melamine. When dry, it can be painted with any type of paint and undercoat. It can be applied over asphalt, bitumen, crayon, creosote, graffiti, nicotine, rust, soot, tannin and water stains.

Brush Restorer

Removes dried paint, varnish and polyurethane from brushes and rollers. Pour into a glass or metal container so that the roller or bristles of the brush are covered. Boiled Linseed Oil Boiled Linseed Oil is used for finishing most bare timber and suitable for replacing the natural sheen that wood can lose after long periods drying in the sun. For sealing knots and resinous and creosoted timber to prevent bleeding through paint film. Sandpaper surface smooth before applying liberally over knots and surrounding area. Paint Driers (Terebene)

Xylene Thinners

A special blend of chemicals to speed the drying of oil and alkyd based paints and varnishes. Particularly recommended for adding to old paint and varnish that has been kept for a long time, and has become slow drying. Add a capful of driers to 1⁄2 litre of paint or varnish and stir well.

Can be used to thin most oil-based paints. Ideal for use with Rustins Damp Seal and High Heat Paint. Rustins Xylene Thinners can also be used to clean brushes and any other equipment that has been used with oil based paints. Sizes: 300ml, 500ml

A special blend of ingredients to clean and restore all types of white UPVC that are weather stained, dirty and dull. Ingrained dirt is quickly removed and if the surface has lost its shine, Rustins UPVC Cleaner will restore the gloss. It is ideal for white UPVC windows, doors, fascias, cladding and plastic garden furniture.

Surface Cleaner

Is a blend of powerful solvents, which will remove accumulated wax and dirt from furniture without harming the original finish. It should be applied with a soft cloth, or, if the wood is very dirty, with 000 steel wool. Wipe off the solution of dirt formed whilst still damp, with a clean rag or paper kitchen towels. Sizes: 125ml, 300ml

Liquid Wax

Is a non-flammable and non-toxic wax emulsion containing pure beeswax and carnauba wax. It can be used with complete safety on all new and old furniture after cleaning off old previously applied wax with the surface cleaner. It is not suitable for use on bare wood. Sizes: 125ml, 300ml

Finish Reviver

If the original finish has lost its lustre or has fine surface scratches, the Finish Reviver will restore the gloss and remove minor surface defects. Water marks and heat marks can also be removed unless they have penetrated right through the finish to the wood. Briwax and Briwax Original Wax polish offers the simplest of finishes to unfinished / raw timber or the final touch to a full French polished surface whether in the home or the workshop. A blend of Beeswax and Carnauba waxes to give an instant natural sheen to bare wood or wood prepared with Shellac Sanding Sealer. Ideal for woodcarvings and turned wood, for floors and skirtings. Briwax cleans and protects wood, metalwork even melamine. Briwax and Briwax Original Both waxes are formulated to produce the Briwax finish on finished and unfinished timber. The Briwax has been blended with slightly milder solvents, so that it gives off less odour whilst drying, whilst at the same time providing a smooth application and finish. Liming Wax A smooth white tinted paste wax, formulated to produce a white grained finish in open grained timbers. Particularly effective on oak and similar timbers.
