2016 French Mission Summary:

The Real America Group traveled to Paris and Strasbourg, France, to promote visitation to four-state region. During the mission a combination of product meetings and sales staff trainings, were held, as well as, a dinner where 33 key operators, journalists, and airlines attended to network and learn more about the region. The region also attended a consumer event that was a result of a joint marketing effort with a key tour operator, where over 60 consumers interested in visiting the region attended. During the time spent in France, we met with 18 tour operators, where we trained a total of 43 sales staff members/product managers. The meetings varied in knowledge of our region from Amerigo, who is very educated in our region, to Macadam Spirit, which is a new company that just opened an America division. Throughout the sales mission the operators had a chance to learn first-hand about North Dakota product, as it was the first time North Dakota has had the opportunity to visit the market. Operator were also given updates on new product in the region and had the opportunity to ask specific questions about the region in relation to their current product offerings and client requests. On Tuesday night during the mission, key representatives from tour operator companies, airlines, car rental companies, and journalists were invited to a dinner to network, build relationships, and learn about the region. The event was of overwhelming success and attendance. A short visit was paid to Delphine Aubert, member of the Visit USA France Committee, during the mission to keep up relations with the committee and to increase visibility of the region in the French market. As a part of a joint marketing co-op, Maison des Etats Unis held a consumer event geared to a specific group of their best clients featuring the Real America. Maison expected 30 clients and 64 attended the event. The evening began with a video and presentation of the region garnering excitement from the group. A short quiz was held at the end of the presentation where participants received state branded items, during this challenge the group was highly competitive and animated. After the presentation the Real America region had the opportunity to meet and mingle with the clients and answer questions. The night resulted with a few bookings to the region the

next day, and Maision now features our region on their homepage of their website. More results of this co-op will be forthcoming. The group then traveled to Strasbourg where we met with several operators, one being West Forever who does group motorcycle tours. Our meeting was perfect timing as they were having their annual product meeting the following week. We gave them ample information about the region to update their itineraries with. After returning to Paris, we met with Morgane from the Little Gypsy Blog who was very interested and excited about visiting our region and promoting our wide open spaces to her followers in her various social media channels. Respectfully submitted,

Susie Pratt, CMO/General Manager

FRMISS16: Virginie Ginès attended the VIP Dinner FR03/15: We provided photos about the four States of the RMI Region to Nora Gherras, Product Manager at COMPAGNIES DU MONDE, who is currently working on web and paper catalogues. Nora participated to the Mahana Show in LYON. She is confirming 60 bookings that take place in the RMI Region. Some of these bookings include in their itinerary the neighbor States of UTAH and OREGON. FR01/15: We attended an event that was held at COMPAGNIES DU MONDE to celebrate their new office. In 2014, this company changed s offices twice starting with one close to the Eiffel Tower where they realized they were not able to receive properly their clients. So they moved to another location downtown PARIS. The new office is good looking and ready to sell the Rockies. FR11/14: COMPAGNIE DU MONDE moved to their new office that will contribute to a better welcome for their clients. FR10/14: Nora Gherras, Product Manager at COMPANGNIE DES ETATS UNIS, is coming to your French Office to check the status of proposition that was made for a Co-Op Marketing through a magazine completely dedicated to the RMI Region. 4000 issues of this magazine would be sent to their database of upscale clients. The RMI Region is very successful at COMPAGNIE DES ETATS UNIS; Nora is interested in doing more to generate more visitors to the 4 States and the 3 Gateways Cities of the ROCKY MOUNTAIN INT. Region. PW14: Met with David. He handles the financial side of the company. He explained that 6-8 months ago they "restarted" the marketing side of the business and have an increase in capital resources this year. The business is very competitive in France and has become more difficult to make a profit. They have very dedicated clients. He really appreciates our region hosting his team (they visited in Sept) because it gives them real experience which helps them to sell. Also discussed his trip to YNP 2 yrs ago with his family. We discussed other possible routing through our region in connection with YNP, also routes including GNP and Boise. Also discussed their proposal for Summit involving the Magazine. They print 5,000 of these for their clients. There is no limit on the number of ads to include but they prefer not to have so many that it detracts from the images of the region. Prefer fewer ads but with higher level partners. RMI-France will followup with him after Summit.

Barbara was formerly with Thomas Cook and very familiar with our region. No product in TRIP Rpts yet although they do have product in our region (WY, SD).

FRMISS16: Met with Barbara, the company sends out newsletters a couple times a week and think its a great tool. They also like to do FB posts with photos and interesting or quirky information. She is interested in getting more photos from the region, fun facts, and press releases. She was unable to attend the VIP dinner due to her father's illness. FR04/14: Jacques Dubarry – PARTIR AUX AMERIQUES was also participating in Roundup until his boss put a last minute embargo on his trip because of a business concern that needed Jacques at the office. PARTIR AUX AMERIQUES is a good partner of the RMI Region; they participated with your French Office last month of March at the SALON RANDO NATURE in Paris. So their interest in the RMI Region is strong. FRMISS14: Met with Barbara and discussed what's new in each state. RMI-France pls send electronic version of French MT guide to Barbara - she likes this a lot because it costs a lot to ship paper guides to clients. Barbara requested video (or send a link to video) from each state to show on You Tube on their website - needs short videos, 3 minutes is longest they can use. They call their video section "Faux pas Reve" which means something similar to don't dream. They do a lot of advertising on Facebook and have over 11,000 friends and can post about our region. They have a couple tours in our region: a fly drive starting DEN and ending SLC which includes Deadwood, Sheridan, Cody, YNP and Jackson. Another DEN tour includes WY. They use RMHTours for fly drives and Go West for escorted tours. FRMISS16:Met with Anthony, the company just added North American product 3 years ago. The company just opened another offices in Bordeaux last year, with 4 US specialists in that location. We did a training with 3 of their US North America specialists in their Paris office. They already have many requests for the solar eclipse. Anthony attended the VIP Dinner. FR06/15: We were concerned about TERRES LOINTAINES. This company was expanding these last months to a point the other tour operators were feeling a threat. But the crisis in the North African destinations created major losses that impacted the finances of this company to a point that rumors started in FRANCE about possible bankruptcy. So we met with Anthony Enault, Product Manager, who confirmed they had concerns with these destinations but not to a dramatic point. They are planning to expand the company with new travel agencies to open in NANTES (2016) and BORDEAUX and LILLE (2017). We plan to provide assistance to these openings with special evenings dedicated to clients in order to push the four states in these agencies. Anthony was sending 400 pax in 2014 to reach 1200 in 2015. We’ll get numbers for the RMI Region as soon as Anthony can provide these to us. TERRES LOINTAINES is already reporting important increase of requests and bookings for the RMI Region. FR03/15: Anthony Enault, Product Manager at TERRES LOINTAINES, is explaining his company is Expanding significantly since 2 years. Their clientele is increasing from a year to another with more repeaters this year. After the “classic first time” to the USA; these repeaters are now looking to more genuine destinations. Since we started, since the beginning of this company, to provide information and assistance to build product; Anthony is reporting increasing requests for the RMI Region this summer! FR12/14: Anthony Enault is the Product Manager for TERRES LOINTAINES. This company is relatively new but is representing a threat to many other French tour operating companies in FRANCE. TERRES LOINTAINES is increasing fast with efficiency, providing to their clients production on line to be followed by customization with a specialist. Following our different visits in their office to train the sales staff, Anthony is reporting increase of interest for the RMI Region. He is confident this increase will grow in 2015. Enault is potentially interested in

FRMISS16: Attended the Maison des USA Consumer Event FR02/15: Anthony Ouinas, UNITED AIRLINES, is developing partnership with DUXIN COM. We negotiated with Ouinas a special rate for the participants of the Round Up. Partnership with UNITED is confirming the growing interest to the RMI Region FR11/10: Preparing the Round Up, I contacted UNITED AIRLINES. Anthony OUINAS in PARIS is confirming they are ready to help us providing a good rate to the participants. The only concern is the flights that are available in that class are not helping us. FR11/09: Preparing the Round Up, I had a lunch with Charlotte KOUDRINE and Christophe LIOT who are the Managers for the USA, Caribbean and South America destinations at AIR FRANCE. The goal is to get free flights for the French Participants for the next Round Up. I am confident that, even if the company is facing a bumpy road in terms of budget, we’ll get a good deal. I’ll let you know FR05/08:I also met with Gilles TALEC who is the General Manager for UNITED AIR LINES. The company, like many others, is facing some difficulties due to the increase of price of gas. Gilles is still interested in helping us for marketing actions, giving us a good rate for the Round Up or Mega Fam. FR04/08: This is also interesting to mention that UNITED AIRLINES was a great partner on this project as we got a unique deal for the round trip flights. This shows the commitment of this other important airline company for our Real America region! FR09/07: Your French Rep had “Whipped and Spurred” to set up a deal with UNITED AIRLINES who is happy to be part of the success story in the Rockies! Special treatments (like free access to the Red Carpet and little gifts) had been provided to the guests in addition to the very attractive price given by the General Manager for UNITED in France. FR08/07: This year, UNITED AIR LINES is participating with us, providing an amazing price to the participants; 275 Euros + tax round trip… Thanks to Gilles TALEC who is the General Manager for France. FR06/07: I am happy to announce that UNITED AIRLINES will be our partner for the Mega Fam 07. I had lunch with Gilles TALEC, General Manager France, who is showing his interest to work with your French RMI Office. The flights are booked for a great bargain; 275 Euros + taxes for the Round Trip…even if our guests decide to be part of one of the Pre Fams.

FRMISS16: Met with Charline, they are now working more with receptives and in 2015 they sent 7,000 to the US, 50% to the West Coast and 35% to NYC. They have a variety of clients, and a lot of families. Clients interested in national parks. She notes stats to hard to get because they are sold by city not, states. She and her family are coming to the region this summer to experience YNP and Mt. Rushmore. Different trend this year : they still do not know yet if the season will be good. But so far this looks ok. There are many family with kids, thanks to movies and TV shows. Charline attended VIP Dinner. FR07/14: is reporting good business to the RMI Region this summer. They were interested to send someone to the MegaFam but due to conflicting agendas in the company this was not possible for this year FR03/14: We provided help to Emilie Canu, Vacances Fabuleuses, who is preparing a package for a group in the four States of the RMI Region. Emilie is telling us the wide-open spaces of the four RMI States are a hit this year again. FR10/13: I visited VACANCES FABULEUSES (part of the KUONI Group) for update of the RMI Region. Emilie Canu is reporting requests for 2014 to the RMI Region are already very high. MegaFam13: France Quaghebeur FR02/13: Charlene Lambert, Product Manager at Kuoni, is telling us our region is getting more interest. She would be ready to set up presentations to the Sales Persons (around 8) with your French Office. KUONI is adding more and more work to the Deciders of the Company. On the top of production for USA, Canada and Australia, Charline is now in charge of Europe. FRMISS13: Claude cancelled her appointment to meet us due to bad weather in Paris. She was unable to travel to her office. FR11/12: We visited VACANCES FABULEUSES, part of the KUONI Group, to provide updates to Emilie Canu and Claude Commaille. Both Commaille and Canu came to our region for a MegaFam and/or a Round Up; they know well the RMI States and the Gateway Cites so we provide more updates and “what’s new” that helps them to sell more. FRMISS12: Met with Claude and Emilie. States updated them on what's new and materials were provided. They have had more requests for our region this year. Claude has visited Idaho to golf. Idaho pls send Coeur d'Alene golf info. SD and WY pls send license plates from your states to add to their collection. FR03/12: Claude and Emilie are selling our Region with success.

FRMISS16: Remi attended teh VIP Dinner FR12/15: VACANCES TRANSAT is loosing money in 2015. Which is showing a decrease for companies who had bet on mass tourism business. The company is rethinking their target, proposing more FIT with customized tours. FR06/15: Armelle Le Scaon, Director of Production for VACANCES TRANSAT, is leaving the company. Georges Esteves will take over while the tour operator is finding new Director. For information, Rémi Vénitien keeps his job as the Product Manager for the USA and SOUTH AMERICA destinations. FR01/15: Rémi Venitien, Product Manager at VACANCES TRANSAT, is selling well his package (for groups) to the RMI Region. They mainly sell groups at cheap rates. We are following up with him. FR03/14: Vacances Transat is competing against other Tour Operators on a project that will take 7 to 8 groups (80 person per group) to Wyoming and South Dakota. Henri, who is in charge, doesn’t know yet these two states. We spent time together to build a great product! We will now wait to see what’s up. FRMISS13: Met with Severine. They do fly drives and escorted tours. It was not possible to send someone to this year's Roundup. She lived 5 months in Denver but has never been to our region. She's ridden Western for years, also roped and has been on a cattle drive. States reviewed the region and what's new. RMI-France pls followup on anything else she needs. FR05/12: Rémi is working on the new brochure. Your French office is providing assistance to help him and more. He is potentially interested to participate to the MegaFam as he would like to discover Montana and South Dakota. FRMISS12: Met with Remi. Small percentage increase for our region. For past 2 years sales are growing and no need for justification of helping region. Brochure production twice per year. Reselling the product through other operator is profitable. The only problem is airlines aren't promoting flights into the area. States pls send airport flight schedules with frequency. They use United-preferred carrier. Also use American and Air France, not using BA this year because of Olympics. Doing good business with guided tours. Had special request for Blackfoot - Marlee pls send info on "what you can do" and Polson Indian property. Looking for convenient stop or "sale" - a two night stay.

MegaFam13: Delphine Aubert Legros FRMISS13: We had to cancel our meeting as originally planned due to weather issues causing delay in leaving Toulouse, but we were able to chat quickly with Delphine on another day. She now has an assistant which gives her more time. She gave us the new Travel Planner. FR09/12: We helped Delphine Legros who planned to visit Chicago for a "scouting trip." When she came back to Paris, she mentioned us how she enjoyed the trip. And she kindly wrote a newsletter that was published by the Visitusa. FR05/11: they are planning to set up 3 Seminars (instead of 2) for next year. The idea of “Breakfast – Presentations” to be organized in other cities of FRANCE was also mentioned. This new concept will be proposed soon to our members. There is also an opportunity of e-learning that is offered to destinations. The price is 800 Euros. This would be a good idea as this e-learning would allow the travel agents that are not easy to meet to receive training on our beautiful region. FR10/10: We are preparing the VISITUSA Seminars to be held in MARSEILLE and LYON in February’11. We also provided to the VISITUSA photos for the Web Site so they can develop visibility for the RMI Region. MegaFam08: Ms. Aude Pelamourgues Attended FR12/07: Your French Office published a newsletter that was sent to the VISITUSA mailing list. The states trained 4 people. They have little ranch product and no winter product and are developing our region's product. AZ and UT are their main west coast product and are better sellers than our region. James will find out exactly what the Twiilight Tour in YNP encompasses. They use RMHTours and New World Travel. FRMISS16: Julie Morin attended the VIP dinner, she also writes a blog about her trips to the US titled Mon Blog USA and can be found at www.mon-blog-usa.com. JULIA RAVON from Strasbourg's office met on the 18th March. Presentation and video were provided to her by the 4 States. Julia attented to the famtrip that was set up in June 2015. FR06/15: We spent significant amount of time with Liore Zeitoun, Product Manager at VOYAGEURS DU MONDE, to finalize and resolve the details concerning the Fam Trip that was planned in WYOMING for the sales staff. Liore sent her sales staff with the new Product Manager for the RMI Region (Cédric Anaiek) to JACKSON HOLE and the YELLOWSTONE PARK so they can visualize this area that is already sold very well by VDM. Liore wants to push this region for the future. FR05/15: We are following up with Liore Zeitoun on this complicated Fam Trip in WYOMING. Considering the hard time we have to get the lodging for the sales staff and the new product manager dedicated to the RMI Region who will travel in our region in June, Liore decided to pay some lodging and got assistance from RMHT for others. FR04/15: Liore Zeitoun, Product Manager for VOYAGEURS DU MONDE, is confirming that Cedric Anaiek, Salesman, will now become the Product Manager specialized in the RMI Region. The 4 states of the RMI Region are becoming very important in the sales at VOYAGEURS. Liore wants to “push” more this destination.
