H

EC Paris has been my first choice since I decided to participate in an exchange program. After 4 months on campus, I do not regret my choice one second. On the contrary, this experience has been enriching in many different aspects. The prestige and dedication of the professors, together with the course contents and methods, are surely some of the many school’s highlights. But beyond the academic aspect, the personal experience was amazing. I think an exchange is a great opportunity for everyone. HEC Paris is for sure an international school. Studying here, I got to know people from all over the world, learn about different cultures and share with them my daily life. And that is something that's worth living.

I

am coming away from a year at HEC with a new sense of maturity and self-awareness. I have the confidence to continue my career in France after graduation. The campus enabled me to develop meaningful friendships with French and international students. Thanks to HEC’s daily career events and helpful center for career development, I was able to get an offer for a paid summer internship in Paris. I was able to practice French during classes, during theater rehearsals, during soccer practice, during meetings of the Catholic community, and during meals. Experiences such as playing soccer for a weekend at Clairefontaine, the training center for the French national team, with the HEC team, experiences such competing in improvisation theater tournaments as a non-native French speaker with one of the HEC associations, experiences such as traveling to Turkey on a Christian pilgrimage with French students from the Christian association will stay with me forever. My goal for a year exchange was to become completely fluent in French while continuing my business education in an academically challenging environment. I achieved my goal which I credit largely to HEC’s residential campus.

Coming to HEC has been the most incredible experience! Not only have I had the opportunity to learn from top professionals and academics in my field of study, but I have also had the chance to network and make an amazing bunch of friends from all over the world. Without a doubt I have developed not only on a professional level but also on a personal one too. Having the chance to live with, study with and socialise with people from a huge range of cultures truly prepares you for doing business in today’s globalised world. Doing an exchange here has been the highlight of my studies and a great way to spend the last semester of my degree. I only wish I came earlier so that I could have stayed longer!

A dream City In a study titled "the European megalopolis" in May 2009, Paris was in first place thanks to its "picture postcard image" (91%), its most emblematic monument, the Eiffel Tower (96,2%), the Champs-Elysées, "a legendary meeting place" (59%) and its incomparable "cultural site", the Louvre (60,3%). The city's "romantic appeal" places it second (79,5%), after Barcelona, the "capital of fun" (87,1%). Montmartre placed third for its atmosphere, after Soho in London and Barcelona's Gothic disctrict. Thanks to Fashion Week, Paris is 10th in the "events" category.
