A Letter from the Founder and Program Director of Marley’s Mission…

For many of you here today the name Marley’s Mission is not a new one. You all came out in support of my family when the unthinkable happened on July 5, 2009. The outpouring of support from the local community was unexpected and heartwarming. Letters and cards poured in from the Scranton area, as well as from people across the United States, offering hope and encouragement. In the darkest days that followed, and even to this day, we take them out and read them. It is only because of the community’s generous donations to the ―Marley Fund‖ that we were able to buy a horse, Strawberry, for my daughter. When Strawberry entered our world, we watched as the unexpected happened and Marley’s Mission was born. Mixed with fear of the unknown and a hope of what could be for many children and families just like mine, we launched Marley’s Mission to the public on February 2, 2010. Again, the community rallied behind us in great support. Tonight marks our biggest event to date, and again, I am left humbled and speechless. I thank each one of you for sharing this special moment of celebration. Thank you to the dedicated Board of Directors of Marley’s Mission, the co-chairs of the Inaugural Blue Ribbon Gala, and all the committee members that worked tirelessly to make this evening a success. In closing, I invite you to take the next steps with us as we continue our mission to help one child at a time! Enjoy your evening and thank you all for making Marley’s Mission a reality,
