EU-Indonesia Business Dialogue 2013 Creating opportunities for increased trade and investment between Indonesia and the European Union October 21 - 22, Jakarta, Indonesia

EU-Indonesia Business Dialogue 2013 The EU-Indonesia Business Dialogue (EIBD) is an ongoing core forum of business leaders working consistently on emerging opportunities in trade and investment between the European Union and Indonesia. EIBD leads to annual high-level events, hosting key government representatives from both sides. This year’s 4th EIBD will be crowned by the EIBD Conference in Jakarta on October 21 and 22, 2013. EIBD is a tool for businesses from both sides to voice joint interests and to submit shared recommendations to the two governments. The past recommendations have been followed up by a continuing co-operation between the European Chambers of Commerce and KADIN Indonesia (the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) together with its member associations. These have led to changes in regulations and new capacity building programs aimed at improving the investment procedures in Indonesia and facilitating access to the EU market for Indonesian companies. Results of this co-operation include easier import and product registrations in Indonesia and improved mechanisms for exchange of information between the EU and Indonesia. The EIBD Conference in Jakarta (October 21 and 22, 2013) will again feature several sectors, namely automotive, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, textile and footwear, infrastructure and related cross-sectoral discussions. Top executives of European and Indonesian companies are invited to participate in the 4th EIBD to discuss recommendations which will subsequently be presented to the Indonesian government and the European Commission. These recommendations will also be agenda-setting input for the upcoming negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the EU and Indonesia. Who will attend the EIBD Conference 2013? During the EIBD Conference some 350 CEOs from prominent Indonesian and European companies will meet to discuss strategic co-operation, which includes joint production and development for the Indonesian and for the wider Asian and European markets, and the realization of new projects in Indonesia. The Brussels-based top business associations are invited to join for the meeting in Jakarta. From the two governments, senior Ministers of the Government of Indonesia and H. E. Karel De Gucht, Commissioner for Trade of the EU Commission, are expected to attend the event.
