Upmarket estates, like the Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate in Gauteng, have many architect designed private homes. Aesthetically-appealing porcelain tiles have become increasingly popular thanks to Nano-technology. The application of Nano particles result in porcelain tiles with enhanced lustre, colour and durability. They create a seamless flow from living rooms to open-plan areas, and rooms appear larger due to the light reflecting off the tile’s surface. Tile Africa Contracts has a range of greener products to offer eco-conscious consumers. Water-saving plumbing accessories, dual flush toilets, water-efficient taps and shower heads are the latest offerings. Our experienced team plans tile design layouts with you and has access to a wide variety of products, thereby offering an invaluable service to the industry.

Villa Cortona Retirement Village, a development by Devmark Construction, required each unit’s order to be delivered individually on the day required within a 24 hour lead time. The project totalled 146 free-standing houses, 78 apartments and 26 frail care and paraplegic units. We sourced the specialised products, mandatory for the frail care centre, and paraplegic and assisted living units, at competitive prices. Our service excellence awarded us the next Devmark Construction project of 104 units in the Helderberg Manor development in Somerset West. The Dolphin View Cabanas focused on economic space utilisation. Tiles complement the combined kitchen and dining room area and a skilful bathroom layout utilises a shower-bath combination.

Franchises and Chain Stores

Success in our industry demands competent stock control and supply chain management. Like-minded clients offer accurate rollout plans, thereby maintaining cost effective stock levels offering financial benefits for all. We believe this is one reason why we have been the sole supplier of tiles to the Famous Brands stable since 2007. Steven Dike, managing director of Famous Brands Development, says: “We require a supplier with a nationwide footprint to supply and service consistently countrywide. Tile Africa Contracts offers competitive prices, and we are able to pass on these benefits to our franchisees, keeping them happy and ensuring our loyalty to Tile Africa Contracts.” We research all the desired specifications methodically to find the most suitable products or comparable alternatives.

The proudly South African DoRego’s restaurant franchise recently rebranded. “Tiles in darker shades accentuate the bright colours in our store design. The vibrant atmosphere complements our brand,” says Gerald Brown, co-owner of DoRego’s. “We’re pleased with the service we receive and when we have unusual specs, Tile Africa Contracts fulfil these.” We supply national and international Nando’s outlets with porcelain, ceramic, slate and mosaic tiles. The Ghandi Square branch carries a retro theme, one of four design themes developed by Nando’s. “For the bathroom, we went with a quirky feel and embossed the tiles with funny phrases, like ‘Flush’ and ‘Wash your hands’. This tied in with the funky atmosphere of the venue,” says Dave Cousins, Nando’s designer.

A unique ambiance is the underpinning competitive element of the hospitality industry. Venues regularly undergo renovation, as owners want to safeguard their asset and ratings. These projects necessitate a combination of décor flair and products that can endure the demands of high traffic areas. The hospitality industry is under pressure with strict watersaving regulations being enforced by certain municipalities. We have added water-saving plumbing accessories to our bathroom ware product portfolio to reduce water wastage. Tile Africa Contracts provides convenience and simplicity for customers preferring to deal with one supplier for all their tiling and bathroom ware needs. We supplied tiles for the competition swimming and diving pool at St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls in Boksburg for architect Charl Groenewald and contractor Boogertman Smit Building. “With high water quality, the floor and walls of the pool are clearly visible. It’s vital that the tiling is of the highest standard as water appears to magnify any blemishes or irregularity,” said Neil Fourie, Platinum Sport Consulting sport facility design consultant, and the pool designer and structural engineer.

We provided tiles for the terminals, waiting areas, VIP lounge, bathrooms, and the Wimpy and Mugg & Bean line shops. Brassware was also supplied for the public bathrooms. It was an honour to be trusted with the supply and service for a project of this magnitude. We worked closely with the client, ACSA, the architect for the project, Bumni Illori from Integrated Design Consultants (IDC Architects), and the contractor, Ian Allan from GVK Eastern Cape.
