The safe choice. Norgren-Herion Safety Valves.

Trusted, Proven and now up to date!

In many applications, safety valves are essential to protect people or expensive machine parts and mechanical elements. Norgren-Herion Safety Valves are the ideal choice for ultimate safety.

The Norgren range of ‘Super X’ valves began life almost 50 years ago as the Enots Integral series. Since that time, they have undergone a

Don’t lose control. Norgren Proportional Valves.

Law and orders.

Proportional valves provide the flexibility to control output pressure or flow in an application. Norgren has an extensive range, with a wide range of pressure and flow options. The Norgren Express range of proportional solenoid valves comprises both proportional pressure and flow versions with open or closed loop control. Applications for these products cover all manner of industrial sectors. The valves incorporate advanced spool and balanced-poppet technologies, and provide true stepless pressure or flow control – for a smooth response, low noise, and a long, trouble-free cycle life. Quick to set-up and highly configurable, the valves offer maximum flexibility and ease of tuning through on-board digital electronics. Critical parameters such as pressure range and response times can be set through simple potentiometer adjustments or menu-driven programming from the front panel keypad/display. Calibration parameters can also be downloaded from a PC to the valve. The microprocessor-based design means the valves also offer selfdiagnostics, optional digital displays, and a variety of Fieldbus interfaces. To ensure precision performance, the closed loop is achieved via internal

pressure feedback in pressure control valves, and spool position feedback in flow control valves.

Where and why? Pressure control Proportional Valves can be found in applications such as spot welding – where response speed and repeatability are important advantages – tension control (resolution and true stepless control make Proportional Valves invaluable) and leak testing (repeatability and the dynamic response characteristic make Proportional Valves ideal for this application). Flow Control Proportional Valve applications include positioning (stability and different units’ repeatability of control are essential benefits), torque and speed control (demanding quick response times and stability) and cylinder motion control, paint spraying, volume control, filing systems and many more.

Take your pick VP23 Pressure Control 3-way proportional pressure regulator with range of standard pressure outputs (2/10/16 bar), poppet valve for low friction, and high maximum operating pressure (18 bar/261 psi). Nominal sizes DN 8 and DN 16. Available with serial windows-user interface (VPTool) and status LED as standard. Optional LCD display or Profibus DP also available. VP50/51 Pressure Control 3-way proportional pressure regulator with a direct acting glandless spool integrated close loop control. Less than 1W power consumption. Accurate to a total error of less than 1% of total span. Available with or without built in programming panel and optional Devicenet control. VP60 Flow Control 5/3 function proportional direct operated spool valve with micro-controlled position feedback and integrated digital electronics. Rapid response times. Available with Serial windows-user interface (VPTool) and status LED as standard. Optional LCD display or Profibus DP also available.

If you’re thinking of placing an order for valves, whether or not they comply with the EC Machinery Directive, is probably not top of your mind. But it’s worth being sure, to be safe. The Machinery Directive is intended to harmonise essential health and safety requirements for machinery at European level. But like much European legislation, understanding it and making sure you comply with it are not at all easy. That’s why it makes sense to be sure to purchase your valves from a reputable manufacturer and supplier such as Norgren, to ensure you get useful and valid advice, and that the products you purchase are fully compliant.

requirements of the Directive. For example, a solenoid-operated spring return threeport two-position valve is a standard product that can be used for a number of different applications. But it is often used for dumping compressed air from a cylinder or system in response to an emergency stop. If the valve fails to operate, the cylinder or system could remain pressurised, so in this case the valve is performing a safety-related function.

Whilst most components are not designed to be safety components, some are employed to perform safety-related functions. In that case, they must meet the

This means it falls under the Directive and must be compliant. So it needs to have been manufactured to a European Standard, and come with a Declaration of Conformity from the manufacturer or importer, as well as being CE marked. If the equipment doesn’t fall under the Directive’s definition of machinery, but is integral to the machine, a Declaration of Incorporation rather than Conformity needs to be issued. Confused? We’re not surprised. So before you order a valve for an application which you feel may be affected by the Directive, make sure you talk to one of Norgren’s valve experts, who can provide real help and guidance so you can choose the right valve and stay on the right side of the law.

The valves offer self-diagnostics, optional digital displays, and a variety of Fieldbus interfaces.

V51 – 1/4 BSP input and outputs 1/8 BSP exhausts PART NUMBER

We know customers will be queuing up for the latest valve series from Norgren – because it has been specifically developed to meet customer demands. Combining high quality with affordability and a rapid response service, the V50 Series is value engineering at its best. Our customers told us they wanted a valve which offered a high flow-to-cost ratio and highly reliable solenoid technology. But we went further and developed a whole series of valves to meet their needs. Ideal for applications in automation control, the V50 Series in-line valves offer more of what our customers want, but without pricing them out of reach. For example, they offer competitive flow rates of from 270 l/min to 2480 l/min. They offer more performance, with a pressure range of up to 8 bar. And through innovative production processes combined with the highest quality materials, they offer all this for longer, being robust enough for a long and reliable working life. Their long life and reliability is something you don’t just have to take Norgren’s word for, as key elements of the technology have

already been proven. Their solenoid technology has been successfully tried and tested in millions of applications, and the sealing system is the highly reliable and proven NBR Softseal Spool. You might think that all this reliability, performance and longevity would mean a bigger, more costly valve. Yet in fact with the V50 series it is all available in an envelope size that’s reduced overall. So you get more powerful and reliable performance in a more compact size – and at a reasonable price.

Flexibility Suitable for lubricated or non-lubricated supplies – and all valve functions (3/2, 5/2 and 5/3) the V50 Series operates in ambient and fluid temperatures from –5°C to +50°C. It offers flexible inline and manifold

mounting options, and there’s a choice of manual overrides: either push, or turn to lock with a tool. For further flexibility, the pilot system features an exchangeable solenoid for all standard voltages – AC 110V, 220V, DC 24V and DC 12V. So when you’re designing new systems, the V50 Series gives you more flexibility to get the design how you want it, confident that it will perform as you need it to – and your inventory is simplified too. You can even download 2D and 3D drawings with multiple CAD support, to make your design process easier with the V50 Series, at store.norgren.com.
