The Volunteer Appreciation Dinner will be Wednesday, April 22, 2015. This dinner is for those that have volunteered on a regular basis to help out in various way at the Pines during the year of 2014. You will be receiving invitations with the details. Please RSVP immediately so we can have an accurate head count. The Annual Pines Garage Sale is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2015. We are going back to having it only one day. We tried two days last year, but it did not prove to be productive enough to remain open for an additional day. Any items you wish to donate, please place in the box marked “Garage Sale” outside of Steve’s maintenance shop. If you have a large item, notify the office and someone will come to your apartment and get it. A more detailed flyer will be put in your boxes the first week in May.

May you draw closer to the Lord and experience His great love for you this Easter. Mary

“Where neighbors are friend s and people really care This statement is so true, I am very fortunate to get to work in an environment where so many people get involved in their community and volunteer their time and talents. Did you know on average 40 people in the building volunteer on a regular basis. Be sure to thank those who are volunteering, they help make it possible to live in such a great place. If you would like to volunteer please stop in and see me.

DIETARY Did you know…we offer nutritious meals ?

Eat in the dining room with your neighbors weekday at noon . Meals are also available to pick up and take to your apartment on Saturday and Sunday .

Hello AllHow about a brief history of bread! Bread in all its various forms, is the most widely consumed food in the world. Not only is it an important source of carbohydrates, it is also portable and compact, which helps to explain why it has been an important part of our diet for thousands of years! During prehistoric times bread was eaten flat or unleavened. What makes up the modern bread most of us eat everyday are 3 things. First, is leavening which makes bread rise into a light and fluffy loaf. The most common leavening for bread is yeast. Apparently the skilled Egyptian bakers started using yeast when making bread around 300 BC. Next is using refined flour which began by grinding grains with stones to create a powder. Around 800BC the Mesopotamians refined this process using milling stones and draft animals to aid the process and mass produce flour. Lastly, mechanized slicing completes the bread most of us recognized and use for sandwiches, toast, etc. The first mechanized slicers were installed in factories around 1928. So all of this leads to the perfect bread loaf which is white, ultra fluffy, and precut into even slices which have been dubbed “American”. Now when I go down the bread isle at the grocery store I am amazed at all of the many different choices of breads available whether it is sliced, unsliced, white, wheat, stone ground, multigrain, sourdough, rye, cranberry, garlic, and on and on and on. I do not know about you but I still like my grilled cheese on plain old fashioned white! Stay happy and healthy until next time.!

Well folks, The aroma of spring is in the air. The birds and the bees, flowers and trees. The trees will be in full bloom soon. Time to turn down the heat and open some windows to get some fresh air, take walks and get some sun. If anyone needs a lesson on how to run your air conditioner, call the office and I will be glad to help, and give you some tips on how to keep your apartment cool. We will have some new residents coming soon. Give them a nice welcome and maybe make a new friend. Steve LaCoursiere Maintenance 763-755-9299

A SMILE NEVER CHANGES

Thursday May 21 8:00—5:00 One day only!

by Tom Krause (Nixa, MO) A SMILE NEVER AGES The older you get the less you know. Just ask your kids they will say its so. Blood pressure up. Arches flat. Everything you eat just goes to fat. Get out of bed. Move real slow. Three times a night you have to go. Caffeine not only keeps you awake it makes you pee for heaven’s sake. The world keeps changing at a hectic pace causing more gray hair and a wrinkled face. But as you look in the mirror what catches your eye is your smile never ages as the years go by.

GLORIOUS FREEDOM “If the Son has set you free, you are free indeed” (John 8:36) Children believe what they are told. Some people say children are gullible; meaning they believe anything no matter how ridiculous it sounds. But children are not gullible; they are trusting. It is a child’s nature to trust unless he has experienced something that teaches him otherwise. And another thing that we know about children is that they can literally enjoy just about anything, even turning work into games. Our heavenly Father desires us to come to Him as children. He wants us to know that we are His precious little ones and to put our complete faith in Him to care for us. He wants us to take His hand and lean on Him, continually asking for His help. He is ready, waiting and more than willing. But we must come humbly as a little child—knowing that without Him we can do nothing. As God’s children we were never intended to live in bondage. We should be experiencing glorious freedom and liberty—freedom to enjoy all that God has given us in Christ. He has given us life, and our goal should be to enjoy it. Seek to become childlike with all the simplicity of a child. It will enhance the quality of your life in a most amazing

way. (Excerpt from: Celebration of Simplicity)
