MAGELLANO 50

Designed to be lived The lower deck is a masterpiece of design as, unique in the world’s offering of motor yachts of this length, it offers the possibility to choose between four options. In the large area between the owner’s cabin, positioned amidship, and the VIP cabin in the bow, it will be possible to choose the configuration studio + guest cabin, or studio + second dinette, or second dinette + guest cabin, or studio + utility area with laundry and drier. A possibility to personalize that makes the relationship between the owner and his Magellano 50 even more intimate. The light reaches into the lower deck through multiple openings, filtering from the windscreen left in view and through the large windows present in every cabin. The furnishings, upholstery materials and natural colors are inspired by marine tradition, reinterpreted by the Azimut Yachts Style Center in a contemporary key. The rooms feature black walnut boiserie with solid wood tops. The frames varnished a glossy black, already present on the 74-foot model, are one of the elements of continuity in the interior design of the Magellano line. The panels and doors have inserts in reed matting and natural fibers. In the cabins, the tops are covered with leather, as are the intermediate portions of the handrails.

Easy Hybrid Plus engine The Magellano 50 is also offered with hybrid propulsion, an optional which will be chosen by many owners considering the advantages it offers: almost total elimination of noise and vibration (up to 80%) which means significant comfort while sailing and a further reduction in consumption during short daily outings. The hybrid propulsion uses two 20-kilowatt electric motors connected to batteries, alongside the traditional engines. The batteries are charged while docked and supplied by the onboard generators. The electric motors run when the diesel engines are off, pushing the Magellano 50 to a maximum speed of 8 knots. As soon as a higher speed is requested the conventional engines kick in. The passage from one propulsion system to the other may occur automatically (depending on owner choice) and the pilot only has to decide at what speed to drive the yacht, without doing anything else.

Designed to be safe The Magellano line is designed for long sails in all possible sea weather conditions, especially unexpected ones. As a result, the Magellano 50 is homologated in class A and, in addition to the characteristics required to achieve the certification, its design incorporates features aimed at further increasing onboard safety. The walkways are wide and safe. The tender is easily and quickly hosted onto the swim platform, where it is stowed in a semi-

garage beneath the cockpit, a solution that has never been applied before in the yacht sector. A point in favor of simplicity and safety of use that is added to many others like the boat’s compact 15-meter length, the use of technologies like the joystick for maneuvering and the Seakeeper gyrostabilizer, the totally unemcumbered bow area, the high external railings for the protection of all main deck areas and the flybridge, and the presence of handrails positioned wherever necessary and integrated perfectly into the furnishings. A set of structural features that invite the owner and his family to drive their yacht personally. This is not by chance: Magellano’s mission is

owner, both in terms of maintenance work and his ability to sell on the craft at a later date. This is why the solidity of the yard you approach is one of the most important parts of the delicate process of actually making your purchase. And you won’t get more solid than Azimut Yachts or the Magellano.

Financial Solidity Azimut-Benetti is one of the largest private nautical groups in the world. In fact, almost its entire shareholding has been in the hands of the same owner for over 40 years. This is not merely a sign of prestige and a tribute to its management but also provides an assurance of unequalled economic and financial solidity. The group is, in fact, free to reinvest all of its profits in research and development and in new models whilst

sion method which completely cuts out styrene emissions. This is one of the reasons why the facility was awarded ISO 14.000 certification for the environmental management of its productions sites as far back as 2007. The plant is now going through the qualification process to gain OSHAS occupational health and safety certification too. Azimut’s 70 foot-plus yachts are built at Viareggio in a huge 40,000 square metre facility that is unique of its kind anywhere in the world. Its interior encompasses: specially equipped production areas for teams of top artisans; an industrial paint booth for megayachts of up to 60 metres; a 600-ton travel lift; fifteen large yacht positions; a private marina capable of accommodating up to 40 yachts of over 80’; a styling lounge where owners can explore the finest options available to them to decorate and personalise their yachts.

Back-up from the Group’s R&D office Development is good for everyone and Azimut is very much a company that focuses very strongly on researching innovations it can make available to its clients. There are many of these aboard the Magellano. Not least of which is, of course, the first steering joysticks to be used with this particular type of propulsion system. The joysticks actually interface simultaneously with the bow and stern thrusters and the engine propellers to make docking manoeuvres completely intuitive even in unfavourable weather conditions. They are actually a Xenta patent exclusively for Azimut too. Then there is Easycruising, a system that manages all of the onboard functions quickly and simply via a simple monitor and ergonomic control. The new hybrid system developed for the Magellano 50 is anit, employing all of the human and financial re-
