Enhancing competitiveness & identifying opportunities The Indian chemical industry has had a challenging year, with the slowdown of the local and the global economies limiting growth in many sectors. But early signs of a recovery are evident across most sectors of the economy and this will provide an impetus for the Industry in 2014. Despite these perturbations, the long-term growth story seems intact. Demand for most chemicals is expected to grow significantly and investments should follow as confidence returns. In these times, companies are looking internally at their processes and practices to improve efficiencies and enhance competitiveness. They are adopting best practices - sometimes even borrowed from other industries – and also learning from the experiences of others in their line of business. The landscape of the Indian fine and speciality chemicals industry is particularly promising – Both in terms of the local market opportunity as well as international business.
