ENHANCEMENT OF QOS PARAMETERS IN MANET AND MESH NETWORKS prof. Vladimír Wieser, PhD. Ing. Štefan Pollák

Abstract In the present, the mobile communication networks MANET (Mobile Ad-hoc networks) are rapidly developing, based on Adhoc platform (communication among mobile nodes without infrastructure and without central control), or mesh networks (ad-hoc networks with access points connected together). In the near future it is possible to expect the grows of services, which are demanding to preserve the high values of QoS parameters (throughput, delay, jitter, packet error rate etc.). One of methods how to enhance QoS parameters is to minimize the mutual interference in network, which is created by non-coordinate selection of transport channels among mobile nodes. The project is oriented to develop algorithms for distributed selection of transport channel in cooperation with antenna system adaptation (switching) by such a way, to minimize mutual interference (QoS parameters enhancement) and at the same time to maximize reuse channel effectiveness.

Positioning methods for wireless ad-hoc networks Ing. Peter Brída, PhD.

Abstract On the basis of the analysis there will be proposed solutions of positioning algorithms and location systems for these networks. Proposal of the new progressive positioning algorithms is expected in the project. The solution of this problem can lie in proposal of hybrid positioning method on the basis of proper combination of particular positioning methods (algorithms). The other solution can be realized by implementation of modern technologies, e.g. adaptive antenna system. On the basis of suggested positioning method will be proposed location system. The location system should combine positives of particular methods to create the best location system proposal. It is necessary to consider not only positioning accuracy, but also increase of operation load, which arises from implementation of location system to the network. Faculty of Electrical Engineering

Progressive mobile positioning in indoor environment by means of wireless networks assoc. prof. Ján Dúha, PhD. Ing. Peter Brída, PhD.

Abstract The project is focused on improving of a mobile object positioning by means of various wireless networks (platforms of heterogeneous wireless networks). The increasing of positioning accuracy can be achieved by means of various ways, e.g. the design of new positioning approach or improving of current approaches. You can image the mobile object as mobile station works at various technological platforms of heterogeneous wireless networks. These platforms are actively used for estimation of mobile station position. The possible are cellular networks, ad hoc networks, sensor networks etc. The positioning accuracy depends on used platform and various environments.

ALGORITMS FOR CAPTURING, TRANSMITION AND RECONSTRUCTION OF 3-D IMAGE FOR 3-D IP TELEVISION Project VEGA No:1/0655/10 Dr. Ing. Martin Brezňan

Abstract The scientific project deals with the research of methods and their algorithms for extraction of 3-D scene model related to a preparation of 3-D television (3-D IPTV) international standards. In the project algorithms of 3-D image reconstruction from multicamera system by various methods will be investigated. The methods have to be suitable for 3-D image data transmitting through Internet. The 3-D model should be applicable to calibrate multicamera system at transmitter side to improve compression rate in 3-D codes, to replace and correct 3-D image in the case of lost packets, and to help to reconstruct 3-D image of the scene in the display at a receiver side. The project follows our previous research on the hybrid method for 3-D image reconstruction from stereo pictures. To improve precision of the 3-D model, a new hybrid method will be then followed by selected optimal image segmetation method. In case of multi-camera system, we would like to fuse of camera twins results into final 3-D model

THE INVESTIGATION OF THE METHODS OF DETECTION OF THE CRITICAL CONDITIONS IN TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORKS FROM THE SPEECH QUALITY POINT OF VIEW Ing. Peter Počta, PhD.

Faculty of Electrical Engineering

69

Annotation The main aim of this project was to investigate the methods of detection of critical conditions in telecommunication networks from speech quality point of view as well as adaptation algorithms. The role of adaptation algorithms is to change the transmission parameters of given connection in order to obtain the best possible quality. Besides main outputs of this project, the additional outputs have been achieved. Those other outputs relate to basic knowledge in speech quality, especially to impact of speech activity, transmission of synthesized speech impaired by time-varying impairments and changing the users’ perceptions of various combinations of speech quality impairments introduced by current telecommunication networks.
