These are linked together by weekly projects such as All About Me and the Discover London academic excursion to museums, galleries and famous historical sites. An afternoon of sport is also included where students practise hand-eye co-ordination and undertake aerobic exercise, such as rounders, sports and outdoor games. Minimum stay is 2 weeks. 23 hour programme (including academic excursion and English through sports). All classes are taught by specialist teachers with experience of working with 3-9 year old children.

Groups All Year SKOLA English Study Tours has been successfully organising English study trips for groups in the U.K. for many years for both children and adults. We regularly organise stays in London and Suffolk for school groups from various countries and we can organise stays in other UK locations as well. A group can even combine stays in two different locations. We recently organised a study trip for Italian high school students doing a project as part of their economics studies, and another stay in London for a group of Russian primary school children. In all cases, for children or adult groups, we combine a quality English language course with cultural, leisure and sports programmes to provide a rich learning experience in the UK. London is full of fantastic things to see and do and we make sure that students leave at the end of their stay having reinforced their English skills and taken full advantage of what our country can offer. Depending on the age of students and preferred location and type of programme, the English course may be provided by different British Council accredited schools in the SKOLA group of schools. Accommodation In London we can arrange budget hotel or Youth Hostel accommodation, as well as homestay or higher hotel categories and student residences, depending on the budget and requirements of the group. In Suffolk, at Alexanders International School we provide residential accommodation on our beautiful campus overlooking the sea. During the summer months we can also offer residential stays for teenage groups in our other residential centres in Culford and Ascot. Transport Groups have the option of using London’s transport system to get around, or have one of our fleet of minibuses take them from the homestay or hotel to their classes in the morning. Airport Transfers On arrival groups are met at the airport by SKOLA staff and taken by coach or minibus to their chosen accommodation.

Adult Accommodation

LONDON

EXETER

Homestay accommodation (with families) All our families have been selected by our homestay provider after inspection and chosen for the warmth of their welcome rather than their proximity to the schools. They are situated in residential areas of London from where the journey to school by public transport is straightforward. They reflect the multi cultural aspect of Britain in general and London in particular. Although they can come from any number of ethnic backgrounds, English is the main language in the home. Please note that the term ‘families’ may refer to parents with children, single parents, single people or couples without children. Juniors are accommodated on a full board basis (breakfast, lunch and evening meal), with the midday meal provided at school on school days and by the homestay provider at the weekend. There may be up to 3 students staying in the accommodation at the same time – but of different mother-tongues unless there is a specific request otherwise (e.g. if friends wish to be accommodated together). Accommodation is always single room unless two children who book and travel together request twin room accommodation.

All our families have been selected by the SKOLA member of staff responsible for accommodation after inspection and chosen for the warmth of their welcome rather than their proximity to the school. Many are however located within walking distance of the school. They reflect the multi cultural aspect of Britain in general. Although they can come from any number of ethnic backgrounds, they all speak native English and English is the main language in the home. Please note that the term ‘families’ may refer to parents with children, single parents, single people or couples without children.

School Minibus Service As London is a large city, and our schools are in Central London, we provide a SKOLA School Minibus Service which picks up students from their homes in the morning, and returns them to their front door at the end of the school day. Some of our families are in residential areas some distance from the schools, so travelling time can be up to 45-60 minutes each way. This service is charged extra. If parents decide not to use our bus service, for children 14-16 to travel alone on public transport, we must receive written authority from them. We do not allow children under 14 to travel alone on public transport even with written authority from parents.

Homestay Accommodation (with families) Students in homestay accommodation have an evening meal as well as Bed and Breakfast. As the evening meal is taken with the family, there is more contact – so more opportunity to practise their English. For this type of accommodation there may be up to 3 students at the same time – again of different mother-tongues unless a specific request is made to the contrary. Shared Housing (Summer) During the months of July and August we have student homes available with private bedrooms – but shared self-catering and bathroom facilities.

LONDON

Parent and Child Accommodation We can provide homestay accommodation for parents and children, but the parent is responsible for looking after the child outside school hours. The parent should either take the child to and from school, or be present in the house when the child leaves and returns on the minibus (if booked). The timetables in the adult and junior schools have been designed with this in mind.

They reflect the multi cultural aspect of Britain in general and London in particular. Although they can come from any number of ethnic backgrounds, English is the main language in the home. Please note that the term ‘families’ may refer to parents with children, single parents, single people or couples without children.

Residential Accommodation We have a small London residence available all year round in the East of London for students attending our Hyde Park school. The rooms contain 2-3 beds and the bathrooms are shared. Students are taken to and from school in a minibus. Accommodation is on a full board basis (breakfast, lunch and evening meal), with the midday meal provided at school on school days and by the staff in the residence at the weekend.

Private Home (with families) Students who choose Private Home accommodation are provided with Bed and Breakfast. They are accommodated in family houses, but there is not much contact with the families. There can be up to 4 students staying in the house at the same time – but of different mother-tongues (unless a specific request is made to the contrary).

ASCOT, BAWDSEY AND CULFORD Residential Accommodation At Ascot, Bawdsey and Culford all students are accommodated in school residences on Campus. Boys and girls are in separate residences. During the Academic Year at Bawdsey, students are in single or 2-bedded room, but during summer courses all bedrooms have 2,3 or 4 beds. Juniors 8-11 at Culford and Ascot are in rooms with up to 6-8 beds. Unless requested otherwise by all parents involved, children sharing together will be of different mother tongues. Most bedrooms contain washbasins, but bathroom and toilet facilities are shared. All accommodation is full-board with breakfast, lunch and evening meal provided and snacks are available.

WELFARE

Homestay Accommodation (with families) Students in homestay accommodation have an evening meal in addition to Bed and Breakfast. As the evening meal is taken with the family, there is more contact – so more opportunity to practise their English. For this type of accommodation there may be up to 3 students at the same time – again of different mother-tongues unless a specific request is made to the contrary. Self-catering Students in self-catering accommodation will be staying in a family house but will be able to cook their own food in the family kitchen. They will be able to use all the kitchen equipment (pots, pans, cooker, etc.) - but would be expected to arrange a timetable for use of the kitchen with the family. There may be up to 4 students staying in the house at the same time - but of different mother-tongues (unless a specific request is made to the contrary). Parent and child accommodation (with families) We can provide homestay accommodation for parents and children, but would point out that the parent is responsible for looking after the child outside school hours. The parent should either take the child to and from school, or be present in the house when the child leaves and returns on the minibus (if booked). The timetables in the adult and junior schools have been designed with this in mind. A choice of accommodation for adults is available as follows:-

Junior Programmes 24-hour emergency telephone numbers are issued to students and their parents as part of the Information Pack. A member of staff can be contacted at any time should students encounter any problem or difficulty. Medical support is always available, with First Aid trained staff on site. Students are inducted on their first morning as to the school rules and are expected to follow them The students and their welfare our or main priority. We maintain very close supervision of students at all times, to ensure their safety and well-being and that they obtain the maximum benefit from their course.

Standard (Homestay, private home and self catering) Situated in a suburban location in Zone 4, within walking distance of a bus stop or train/underground station. Superior (Homestay, private home and self catering) Located in Zone 2s or 3 closer to the city centre, within walking distance of a bus stop or train/underground station. It is essential that you inform us of any special requests for your homestay (allergies, diet, pets, location) at the time of booking and we will do our best to match your requirements.
