1. INTRODUCTION: Mebex Consultants, is a Healthcare Planning, Architectural and Engineering Services Consultancy, which was established in 1979 “Thirty years ago” by. Dr. J. Abbosh in the U.K., regional offices were founded in the Middle East, with a regional headquarter office in Lebanon in 1995, in Iraq in 2000, and Saudi Arabia in 2008, to support the increased potential of healthcare expansion in the Middle East. The scope of services offered, include, Feasibility Studies, Hospital Management and Maintenance Studies, Hospital Information and Integrated Management Systems, Planning of Healthcare Institutions, Pharmaceutical, Diagnostic Imaging and Clinical Laboratories Facilities. The consultancy is involved in the architectural and engineering design services of major healthcare projects in the Middle East, with full Electro-Mechanical / Structural Engineering Design Support, Supervision, and Project Management, of the intended projects. established in 2003, in Iraq, as a Multidisciplinary Company, in Contracting Engineering, Project Management & Healthcare. Mebex – Iraq was the first Iraqi consultancy that was retained by the World Bank to undertake Needs Assessment Studies in the Housing and Urban Management Sectors.

Islamic Development Bank and The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development Bank Mebex Consultants signed a contract in Iraq in 2003 with the World Health Organization, for implementing a series of 100 bed hospitals in the Northern Governorates of Iraq, and with the U.N. / Iraqi M.O.H., in the central region of Iraq.

Mebex Consultants is associated with a Group of leading engineering consulting firms to design various hospital projects in the Arab World, such as Khatib & Alami, Erga Group Overseas, Dar Al-Handasah and Team International. In 2007 Mr. Joseph Saade, over 30 years Hotel expert and senior consultant kitchen and laundry planner founded a Joint Venture with Mebex Consultants. Mr. Joseph Saade supported by a team of specialized designers and engineers, has a long experience in preparing detailed layouts of kitchen, restaurant and laundry projects with tender documentation for specifications, bill of quantities, and relevant manufacturer brochures. In 2007 & 2008, Mebex Consultants and Erga Group Overseas have been appointed by the Ministry of Finance of Saudi Arabia and Ajiad Company Real Estate Development to design the new Ajiad General Hospital in Mekkah, which is comprised of a 240 beds hospital, within a major commercial complex and a residential tower of 38 floors. The complex and hospital will be replacing the existing old Ajiad Hospital next to the main Mekkah Mosque.
