The Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science is one of Southwestern Indiana’s most established cultural institutions. This general museum maintains a permanent collection of more than 30,000 objects, including fine and decorative arts and historic, anthropological, and natural history artifacts. The Museum’s new Koch Immersive Theater uses the newest in planetarium technology. The theater houses a 40-foot diameter domed screen with 360-degree digital projection and a 10,000-watt surround sound system. Programming for the Koch Immersive Theater is not limited to astronomy programs but covers a broad range of science topics. •

USS LST-325 An LST “Landing Ship Tank” is an amphibious vessel designed to land battleready tanks, troops and supplies onto enemy shores. With Evansville now as its home port, the USS LST-325 is open to the public to preserve the memory of these ships and the men who served and died on them.

Although the US LST-325 was not made in Evansville, Evansville’s shipyard was proud to have been the construction site for many of the LST’s used during WW II. •

Countrymark Refinery and Pavilion Countrymark is unique in that 100% of the crude oil it refines is sourced from the Illinois Basin, which includes southern Illinois, southern Indiana and western Kentucky and plays a major role in the local economy. Their recently opened interactive learning center called the Pavilion offers visitors the opportunity to learn how the crude oil travels from the well, through the refinery and becomes the many finished products Countrymark markets to the consumer. In addition to a possible field trip, we plan to use the Pavilion as the site for the 2018 Certification Class. •

Elastec Winner of the One Million Dollar prize in the Wendy Schmidt Oil Cleanup Challenge following the Gulf oil spill, Elastec’s international headquarters and manufacturing facilities are located just across the state line in Carmi, Illinois.

Toyota Motor Corporation

Located in Princeton, Indiana just north of Evansville, the Toyota Motor Corporation offers tours of its manufacturing plant where it assembles Siennas, Highlanders and Sequoias. A major highlight at the Visitors Center is a 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup suspended from the ceiling • reveal with the various components pulled apart to how all the parts fit together. In addition to seeing the assembly process, visitors can try on protective gear worn by production employees and see a demonstration of the process used to make plastic bumpers and dashboards..

Historic Vincennes Indiana Founded in 1732 by French fur traders, Vincennes is the oldest continually inhabited European settlement in Indiana. The George Rogers Clark Memorial sits on the banks of the Wabash between Indiana and Illinois celebrating Vincennes’ rich history from the French Indiana Wars to the American Revolution.

Continue the celebration with the life and legacy of one of America's greatest comedians and Vincennes’ favorite son, Red Skelton, at the Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy located on the campus of Vincennes University. At this new interactive museum your funny bone will be tickled as some of Red’s most beloved characters including Freddie the Freeloader and Clem Kadiddlehopper, come to life. •

GARDEN OF THE GODS More than 320 million years ago, the wind and rain patiently started to chisel away at large deposits of sedimentary rock located in what is now, the Shawnee National Forest . Lincoln Boyhood Memorial Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky, grew up in Southern Indiana, and practiced law in Illinois. Many character and moral traits of one of the world's most respected leaders was formed and nurtured during his early years. Explore Lincoln's boyhood and learn about the boy who would one day become the leader of our nation.
