Suncoal Industries GmbH

The CarboREN® technology, based on the principles of hydrothermal carbonization, utilizes green or organic waste from municipalities (grass, leaves, etc.) or other organic waste from industrial processes (wood chips, bagasse, etc.) to produce dry and solid SunCoal biofuel, which has similar characteristics to dry brown coal. The CarboREN technology is extremely energy efficient, scalable and allows the use of a wide variety of organic materials. In comparison to other biomass-to-biocoal technologies, the CarboREN technology has a number of distinct advantages. The CarboREN technology allows all types of organic waste as input material, such as wood (also roots and bark), grass as well as organic waste from production facilities (bagasse, fruit juice production waste). The reuse if steam and water in the process creates a very energy efficient production. SunCoal biocoal can be used in existing power plants to produce heat and power, or can be further processed to produce syngas and its secondary products. Since the fall of 2011 SunCoal Industries has been actively marketing its patented solution. Target customers for this green technology are public utilities, waste management companies and municipalities that are interested in environmentally friendly uses for local organic waste products.

BARD Group Clean Energy from High Seas The BARD Group is one of the most experienced companies in the offshore wind business worldwide. Founded in 2003 the BARD Group has developed into a unique turn-key supplier of offshore wind farms, which is involved in all stages of the value chain: the project development, the manufacturing of the wind turbines, rotor blades and foundations, the installation and the operational management of offshore wind farms. The first commercial offshore windfarm in German waters, “BARD Offshore 1”, is producing electricity since December 2010 and already the largest offshore wind farm in Germany. It will be completed till the end of 2013 with 80 WECs over all. The total output will be 400 MW. The project is supported by the EC in the framework of the EEPR with a grant of EURO 53.1 m.
