Take your time. Minimally, spend at least 1 to 3 minutes on an exercise. Enjoy it. Use whatever exercise you’re drawn to and have fun! Pause and reflect. ~ 5 Energizing Options ~ Clapping Clapping is a natural sound-generating activity that impacts your surroundings and can create a dynamic change in and around your body or a room. Clapping breaks up stagnant energy and clears the air. It’s great to do when you feel sluggish or are holding tension in your head, neck, shoulders, or back. It also stimulates the palms of both hands, which are sub-energy centers to the heart. Not surprising because clapping, or applause, is practiced in most parts of the world as an expression of appreciation from the heart. How to:  Get into a comfortable standing position.  Close your eyes.  Connect to your breathe.  Begin to clap around your body - all or parts of it.  Allow your hands to clap in whatever rhythm, speed, or intensity you are drawn to until you naturally come to a stop.  Be still for a few seconds to feel the energy moving throughout your body.

Zip-Ups Zip-Ups strengthen and energize the core energy along the line known in Chinese Acupuncture as the Conception Vessel - a reservoir of Yin energy that supplies energy to the six Yin Meridians (Spleen, Lung, Kidney, Liver, Heart and Heart Protector). When you hear or see de-energizing images, sounds, words, or actions, doing the Zip-Ups will allow you to stay energized, centered, and calm. Also, in stressful situations, it can help you maintain your center of balance - keeping you in sync with your optimal vibrational frequency. How to:  Hold your upward-facing palm (right or left) about one inch in front of your pelvis. Move it slowly up the center of your body from your pelvis to your chin, just below your mouth.  Inhale as you move your palm up. Relax your hand down by your side as you exhale.  Avoid moving your hand down your midline. Only use an upward motion along the midline of your body.  Do 3 to 5 Zip-Ups.

Alternate Nostril Breath The Alternate Nostril Breath or Anulom-Viloma (which means breathing through alternate nostrils, one after another, not simultaneously) is an incredible energizer, which works effectively to relieve stress and anxiety. This breath, if done for three to ten minutes daily, is said to cleanse the 70,000 energy channels in the body, strengthening the heart, improving blood circulation, and increasing lung function. This breathing technique massages, cleanses, and tones the entire nervous system clearing negative thinking and having a calming effect on the mind.

Energy Boost: 10 Ways to Activate Your Energy in Business and Life How to:  Lay the edge of your right index finger across your forehead, just above your eyebrows.  Now close your right nostril with your right thumb and inhale (belly rises) slowly and completely through your left nostril.  Release your right nostril. Close your left nostril with your middle finger and exhale (belly relaxes) completely through your right nostril.  Continue inhaling only through your left nostril and exhaling only through your right nostril.

Memory / Listening Ear Massage The ears are associated with the capacity to hear, and also with physical balance and memory. The ears are a reflex to the whole body. Massaging the ears, circling the ears, and pressing into the ear acupuncture points several hundred of which are located on or in the ears - will energize and relax your whole body-mind-emotions system. It may also have a beneficial effect on your hearing (listening to others), memory, and balance. How to:  For each ear, place your thumb behind your ear and gently place your index finger on the inside of the ear. Avoid putting your fingers into the ear canal. Press all around your ears, and circle the ears slowly and gently.  Gently stretch the flaps of the ears and pull the edges of your ears, massaging any sensitive points you find.  Work the top of your ears by putting your fingers behind your ears and your thumb in front. Repeat the pressing and stretching.  Remember to breathe. You may feel heat from any stuck energy moving.

SNS Body Shake-Out The Sympathetic Nervous System or SNS Body Shake-Out releases residual tension from the body-mindemotions system, helping you recharge and re-energize yourself. After a shock, stress, or upset it is essential that you release any excess energy your sympathetic nervous system (fight-flight response) kicked-in for handling the stress. Animals do this naturally. After an animal goes on the alert for danger, it automatically releases any excess SNS energy (not already discharged in running away or fighting) by rolling, running, shaking, or trembling. Similarly, the Body Shake-Out is one way for you to quickly release stress (adrenaline and cortisol) from your system. How to:  Start by shaking out your wrists, vigorously.  Now shake, vigorously, your wrists and elbows. Add in your shoulders, neck, and head.  Now include your chest and hips, shaking and wiggling - the way a child would!  Bounce and move your knees. Shake out your ankles and finally shake your whole body.  Complete the SNS Body Shake-Out by bending forward from the hips, knees slightly bent, and shaking out your jaw, shoulders, and arms. Let your mouth hang open, and even relax and shake out your tongue with an ‘Aaaaa’ sound! Slowly straighten from the hips. Take a breath, relax, smile, and sigh out slowly.

~ 5 Relaxing Options ~ Calming Cross-Over The Calming Cross-Over position releases emotional and environmental stress, and integrates both hemispheres of your brain. Whenever you feel worried, anxious, or upset, it helps calm and balance the mind. It’s a wonderful position to do while lying in bed at night before sleep or in the morning in preparation for getting up and starting a new day. At the end of a long day the Calming Cross-Over clears the day’s stresses and strains. How to:  While sitting or laying down, cross one ankle over the other (right over left or left over right). Go with whatever comes naturally.  Place your hands in front of you with the back of your hands touching.  With your hands back-to-back, place the opposite wrist on top of the other so your palms now face each other. (For example, if your right ankle is over your left ankle, then place your left wrist over your right wrist.) Interlock your fingers. Bring the two clasped hands down and in a half circle towards your chest so your interlocked hands rest on your chest and your elbows are relaxed against your ribs.  Place your tongue on the roof of your mouth, close your eyes and breathe slowly. Relax deeply and with each breath feel the layers of tension melt away from head to toe.  With your eyes still closed, complete the Calming Cross-Over by uncrossing both your ankles and wrists, and place your fingertips together. Allow your fingertips and hands to move in any way they are drawn to: up-down, left-right, out-in. These movements have a synchronizing effect on your brain areas: upperlower, left-right, front-back.

Rainbow Breath Breathing is the #1 form of nourishment. Every color in the rainbow has its own unique energizing frequency and qualities. Combine these two together and you have a powerful way to awaken and harmonize your entire body-mind-emotions system. Red: grounding, stamina, courage. Orange: confidence, creativity, resilience. Yellow: optimism, focus, power. Green: peace, balance, emotional calm. Blue: clarity, communication, contentment. Indigo: inspiration, clear perception, purpose. Violet: intuitive thinking, spirituality, transformation. How to:  Choose which color(s) you need and where you need it: in a particular organ or area of your body; a particular level (mental, emotional, physical); an area of pain, or your whole self. (For example, green in your heart).  Get into a comfortable, relaxed position and close your eyes.  Begin to visualize the color. As you inhale through your nose, take in the color you need. As you exhale, send the color to where you need it.  Do this with each color and in each area until complete.  Option: Use the entire sequence of colors, starting with red. One at a time, breathe in each color and direct it throughout your whole body. www.simplyresonate.com

Nodding Your Head Yes This powerful, yet simple, energetic exercise has a calming and grounding effect on you as well as anyone you are talking to. It lets people see you have heard them and supports your ability to stay present while listening. It is particularly calming and centering to nod your head ‘Yes’ slowly when someone is angry or upset while keeping your eyes relaxed. When you feel off-balance you may unknowingly shake your head ‘No’. Change it to a ‘Yes’ and notice how you immediately feel more centered. Nodding your head ‘Yes’ also strengthens your thymus gland which supports your immune system. How to:  Breathe in and out through your nose slowly and naturally.  Soften your eyes, close your eyes, or allow your eyelids to slowly blink.  Slowly begin to nod your head ‘Yes’.  Create a calming rhythm to your nod.

Haaa Sound for Heart Connection The sound of haaa is associated with the Heart Meridian in Chinese Acupuncture - the Meridian that is connected with love and brings this quality to the remaining 11 Meridians. The sound is considered to have a strengthening effect on the physical heart, as well as on an emotional and mental level - helping you reconnect to your loving, joyful, compassionate heart energy, and maintain a conscious awareness of yourself and others. How to:  Do this standing or sitting.  Relax your arms by your sides and hold your palms facing up. Or, hold one palm facing up and place the other palm on your heart center.  Place your feet on the ground, solid and stable.  Breathe in through your nose as your belly rises. Now breathe out through your mouth with a long haaa tone as your belly relaxes.  Relax your mouth and throat, smile, and project out the haaa sound like an arcing rainbow.  Option: While doing the exercise, visualize someone you’d like to connect with or someone who challenges you that you would like to feel at peace with.

PNS Balancing The Parasympathetic Nervous System or PNS Balancing is a self-help polarity contact (using positive and negative charge or electrical poles) that is important to do when you experience any stress, upset, accident, or even trauma. It balances the part of your central nervous system that supports bonding, safety, calmness, and relaxation. It’s also good if you need to calm your mind, especially if you’re dealing with insomnia. How to:  Lie on your left side with your upper right knee bent and your lower left leg straight. Support your head with a pillow if you need to.  Bend your left arm and place your left palm on the right side of your neck.  Place your right hand over your right sitz bone (sitting bone). Relax and breathe deeply. www.simplyresonate.com

Bonus Energizing Exercise! Sipping Water Water is essential to the proper lymphatic function on which nourishment of the cells and removal of waste depends. Every cell is filled with and surrounded by water - ideally 60% inside our cells and 40% held in the fluids outside our cells. Our bodily systems are electrical and water is a medium for conducting electricity in the body. It is the electrical transmissions within the nervous system that make us sensing, learning, thinking, acting organisms. Water is essential for maintaining the electrical - and energetic - potential within our bodies. Your need for water may not necessarily register as thirst, so it’s important to consistently drink water throughout the day to activate the electrical connections of the brain and body for optimal functioning. In fact, it’s been observed that sipping water supports good cognitive function and emotional calm. How to:  Notice how energetic you feel.  Take a slow sip of water, hold it in your mouth, and swish it around before swallowing.  Now notice how you feel. It may take a few days before you observe a difference in your experience of hydration.  Water is most easily absorbed at room temperature.
