Sign-In & Out Procedures
Authorized persons (parents, guardians, or emergency contacts) must be present at the beginning of camp to sign a child in with camp staff. A photo ID will be required from each person picking up a child from camp. Anyone picking up a child from camp must be listed on the camp registration form either as a parent, guardian, or emergency contact. Additional contacts can be added by logging into your WebTrac account or submitting a form to the Camp Coordinator (available at the camp site, at the El Cerrito Community Center, and online). Forms are also available to authorize your child to sign themselves in or out of camp.

Using warm-up exercises and improv “structures”, campers will be encouraged to trust their instincts, think on their feet, and actively support each other (it is said that a good improviser is one who makes his or her teammates look good). A weekly mandatory LIT training is held. The program gives teens the chance to learn about working as part of a team, communication, and creating and leading programs, and it’s a terrific chance to have fun! This is a great way to learn valuable skills that will help teens now and in the future! A 3-week minimum commitment during the 8-week summer is required to participate in this program. Limited spaces are available, so sign up early. LIT’s will be required to wear a red shirt daily.
RESIDENT CAMP El Cerrito Camp Ravencliff
For the past fifteen summers the El Cerrito Recreation Department has offered a fun and unique residential camping experience away from home. Camp Ravencliff is located in beautiful southern Humboldt County along the Eel River. Campers enjoy outdoor activities among the redwood trees, water activities including canoeing, various sports, arts and crafts, performing arts, an overnighter the under the stars, and so much more. There are two programs for teens entering grades 10 to 12: the Teens in Leadership Training Program (TILT) and the Counselors-In-Training (CIT) Program. Teens accepted into these programs (application available online and at Community Center) will focus on various projects throughout camp, including assisting counselors with camp activities and performing other supportive functions. The Ravencliff Teen Programs’ mission emphasizes teamwork, group dynamics, and personal growth. Teens accepted into the CIT/TILT programs have the option to attend both weeks space permitting. Week 4 only: $128 Res/$160 Non-Res (No camp 7/4) Each week campers will enjoy a daily swim lesson (except on field trip days), daily recreational swim, water polo, fun water activities and more! Campers spend the entire afternoon in and around the water – so a love of the water is a must! Field trips will be on Thursdays. Start time on field trip days vary. The camp is broken up into three one-week sessions with a new topic each week. Campers are strongly encouraged to participate in all three weeks. After successfully completing all three weaks, campers ages 13 and 14 years, may apply to volunteer working alongside our Professional Lifeguards for the remainder of the summer season. All volunteers are required to possess current certification in first aid and CPR. No exceptions! Pre-requisites: Must be comfortable in deep water, able to swim 100-yards non-stop coordinated freestyle and breast stroke and tread water for two minutes.
Swim Instructor Aide Training Location: Swim Center - 7007 Moeser Lane $168 Resident/$210 Non-Resident Pre-requisite: Must be able to swim at a level 5 skill level This course is designed for those who wish to become a swim instructor aide at the El Cerrito Swim Center. The training is designed for participants 14 – 15 years who desire further involvement in aquatic activities but are too young to participate in the WSI course. The training includes instructor aide and basic water rescue training. Upon successful completion of the course, participants may apply to work with our teaching staff. There are a limited number of paid positions available. Please note that all City staff are required to possess current certification in first aid and CPR.

Walk-in registration is accepted at the Recreation Department office during business hours Monday, Wednesday, & alternate Fridays 8:00am-5:00pm, Tuesday & Thursday 8:00am-6:00pm. The office is located at 7007 Moeser Lane, El Cerrito. Please see page 3 for a list of the Fridays the office is closed.

You can register online for your favorite classes and activities anytime, day or night, from your home or office computer. Most recreation and swim classes are available for online registration. There is no additional charge for online registration. Detailed instructions are online, see below:
Sign-In & Out Procedures
Authorized persons (parents, guardians, or emergency contacts) must be present at the beginning of camp to sign a child in with camp staff. A photo ID will be required from each person picking up a child from camp. Anyone picking up a child from camp must be listed on the camp registration form either as a parent, guardian, or emergency contact. Additional contacts can be added by logging into your WebTrac account or submitting a form to the Camp Coordinator (available at the camp site, at the El Cerrito Community Center, and online). Forms are also available to authorize your child to sign themselves in or out of camp.
Returning Participants
If you registered for a class, program, membership or rental you have a temporary user name and password, which can be found at the top of your registration receipt. The first time you log in, enter your Household ID for both the User Name and the Password. For your security, you will be prompted to change your user information. If you do not have a receipt and do not know your user name and password, please contact us at

______ Late Fees: A $17 fee will be assessed if your camp payment is not received by the Monday, two weeks prior to the camp start date. ______ Late Pick-Up Policy: Late pick-ups are charged $5.00 per 5 minutes (or a fraction thereof) and must be paid at the time of the pick-up. In case of an emergency, the parent/guardian must contact the camp site. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to contact someone listed on the child’s emergency form to pick up the child. ______ Transportation: I hereby give permission for my child, to be transported by the City of El Cerrito transportation service and, to the extent permitted by law, I waive, release, and discharge any and all claims for personal injury, death, or property damage that is a direct result of or is in any way connected or associated with my child’s being transported by the Recreation Department. I understand that such transportation may take place in a City vehicle, rented vehicle or bus, or by walking. To the extent permitted by law, this agreement is intended to discharge the City of El Cerrito, including but not limited to its Recreation Department, and all of El Cerrito’s officers, employees, agents or representatives from any and all liability arising out of or in any way connected with the transportation of my child by the Recreation Department including such liability which may arise out of the negligence or carelessness on the part or persons or entities mentioned above, except as provided herein. It is understood that the transporting of people in vehicles on streets and roadways clearly involves risk and the danger of accidents, and knowing those risks and dangers, I hereby fully assume such risks for my child.

______ Behavior Policy: I understand that my child is expected to follow all rules established by his or her instructor/camp staff, and any failure to comply may result in dismissal from the program. I also understand that no refunds will be given. Every effort will be made to contact the parent/guardian. ______ Consent to Photograph, Film or Tape: I agree to have photographs, films, or tape recordings taken of me or minor child registered under my signature while participating in City of El Cerrito programs and I permit these photographs, films, or tapes to be released for use in publications, promotional materials, web site, and for other public information purposes by the City of El Cerrito. ______ Nut Allergy Policy: There are children in our program with food allergies. Please do not send any snack, lunch or other food items with your child made with nuts or cooked in nut oils. Towards that end, to the extent permitted by law, I hereby release in advance the City of El Cerrito, its officers, employees, agents and volunteers from any and all liability to me or my child arising out of, or connected in any way with, my child’s participation in the day camp program, even though that liability may arise out of the negligence or carelessness of the City of El Cerrito, its officers, employees, agents and volunteers. Additionally to the extent permitted by law, I hereby agree to indemnify the City of El Cerrito, its officers, employees, agents and volunteers against any liability, loss damage, expenses and costs of every nature arising out of, or in connection with, my child’s participation in the program. I have read and fully understand the terms of this Waiver, Release and Indemnity.

______ Cancellation, Refund, Transfer & Schedule Change Policy: I understand that once I enroll my child in summer camp all cancellation, transfer, schedule change and late fees apply and that registration is confirmed. Requests for cancellations, transfers, or schedule changes must be submitted in writing (email OK) to the Community Center Office no later than 10 working days prior to the first day of class/camp in order to be considered. Cancellations, transfers, and schedule changes will not be granted for nonattendance. Camp cancellations prior to 10 working days will result in cancellation fee of $28 and class cancellations will result in a fee of $17. Transfer and schedule changes are assessed a fee of $17 per child per camp/class. In the case of illness or injury, requests for a refund, transfer or credit will be considered only when accompanied with a doctor’s note and letter requesting the exception & appropriate fees will apply. Refunds, transfers, or schedule changes will not be granted after the first day of camp except in the case of medical emergency.
