Thank you very much for your past support and sacrifices for my people in Uganda. You have made a significant difference. Here is a brief report on what we have accomplished: ► Built St. Edward’s Health Centre (www.sedhec.org) ► School: renovated restrooms and 2 classrooms. Built 2 new classrooms and furnished with tables and chairs. Provided meals and tuition assistance for many of our students, many of who are AIDS orphans. ► Re-roofed the archdiocesan cathedral in Kampala and provided a keyboard & amplifier. ► Built St. Jude Church in Wakiso ► Completed construction of parish offices at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel We have ongoing challenges helping our people, and your sacrifices and donations are still much needed – without which we can do very little. Every dollar you give makes a very big difference in Uganda. Mission envelopes for your donations are in the pews and in the back of church. You can put your envelope in the collection basket or you can drop your donation off at the Parish Office. Please write your check to St. Edward Church and on the memo line write: Fr. Achilles Uganda On behalf of my people and our Church I thank you. I will be here at St. Edward the Confessor Parish through August 4th. You are most welcome to come visit us in Uganda. Contact Fr. Update on Summer Work Around the Parish -The work on the walkway has been completed. We leveled the pathway and added an additional band of pavers to meet current ADA code and minimize our landscape maintenance in that area. -The area around the Jesus sculpture has been filled in. We are looking to add some potted plants around the area. -The bathrooms are nearly completed – just a few finishing touches and they will meet new code. We replace the tile and all the fixtures, reworked the electrical and added new lighting. -Truncated dome were added in front of the church and school. -The parking lot is scheduled to be resealed and painted on July 30 and 31. -New paint in the school public areas and new carpeting in the school office. -There will be a shade structure installed in the preschool play area over the artificial turk. -San Felipe has received a fresh coat of paint inside and out. -Minor roof repairs to San Felipe will be completed by the end of summer. - Additional space was added for memorial plaques in the memorial garden. -We relocated the web cam in the church to improve the Stedcast feed due to the repositioning of the furnishings on the Sanctuary. -We have finalized a design for a decorative screen at the top of the new ramp to the sanctuary and it is in production. -Work has been completed on the two new van accessible handicap spots along the walkway. New signs will be installed to mark these spots. - Pews were reinstalled in the balcony after the corrections were made. Pews from the other side have been removed and will return by the end of August. -We have reinforced the balcony wall to accommodate the new 42” high railing required by the city. The railing is in production and will be installed in the next few weeks. -There is a new donation bin for food items located outside the church office. We ask that all food donations be dropped there instead of inside the church. Any questions may be directed to Lori Sloss. Operations Manager, [email protected]. Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Crossing Borders A Just Faith Journey on Immigration Sign Up Now The contentious voices surrounding the issue of immigration in the U.S. reflect many sides and perspectives, with no single voice comprising the entire story. Where can we find common ground? The Catholic Social Justice Ministry invites all those sincerely seeking truth and the Catholic perspective on immigration issues to take part in a comprehensive eightweek study to find that common ground and more about ourselves, our values, our God and the millions of people who are on the move in every part of the world. “JustFaith – Crossing Borders” is grounded in Scripture and Church teachings. The 2 ½ -hour sessions include prayer, dialogue, active listening, DVDs, and relationship building. The weekly sessions will be held Monday evenings beginning September 14. To sign up—or to find out more about this challenging, but faith-building experience, contact Cindy or Chuck Brauer, 949-388-8219 or [email protected]. Space is limited. August 2, 2015
