Eduroam mac os x 10.6 Eduroam is the preferred network for students and staff at Aarhus University. You can get easy and automatic access to the Internet at Aarhus University and at other universities in Denmark or abroad with eduroam since it is an international collaboration with hundreds of universities participating worldwide. Visit www. eduroam.org to see the list of participating institutions.

You only need to set up eduroam once on your device. It automatically connects when it detects eduroam in the air. This also applies if you visit a foreign university where eduroam is also available. Hence the foreign university is not required to handle guest login or separate network access for guest students or teachers.

NB! Before you begin this guide, make sure that the Airport on your Mac is turned on. If it is turned off, you will be able to choose ‘Turn Airport on’ when you click the wireless network icon in the upper right corner. Choose this option in order to turn on your Airport. In order to access eduroam, click the wireless network icon in the upper right corner and choose ‘eduroam’.

You will now be asked for your username and password. This information depends on whether you are a student or an employee at Aarhus University.

Employees Please see http://eduroam.au.dk/ny.

Students followed by ‘@post.au.dk’> (i.e. 20104884@ post.au.dk). The password is the same as the one for mit.au.dk (Self-service).

You will now be asked to verify the server certificate. Choose ‘Show Certificate’.

Make sure that the option ‘Always trust ’ is checked, then choose ‘Continue’ in the lower right corner.

Your Mac will probably ask you to enter your password in order to complete the configuration. This is the password for your profile on your Mac and not the pasword associated with your username at Aarhus University. You may also be asked for a password even though you have not created one for the profile on your Mac. In this case, simply leave the field ‘Password’ empty and choose ‘OK’.

In the windows that appears, choose the tab ‘TCP/IP’. Under ‘Configure IPv4’, click and select ‘Using DHCP’. Make sure that the button ‘Renew DHCP Lease’ is visible. If this is not the case, choose another option under ‘Configure IPv4’ and then return to ‘Using DHCP’. ‘Configure IPv6’ should be set to ‘Automatically’.

Now select the tab ‘DNS’. The field ‘DNS Servers’ must be empty in order to enable your Mac to use the DNS servers on the eduroam network. If you see IP addresses in this field (e.g. 220.22.12.12), these must be deleted. This is done by clicking the IP address once and then clicking the minus-sign just beneath the field. Repeat this for all of the IP addresses present in the window ‘DNS Servers’, then choose ‘OK’.

You will now return to the front page of the network settings. Turn on the wireless network on your Mac by clicking ‘Turn Airport On’ in the upper right corner. Then click ‘Apply’ in the lower right corner. You can now open your browser and try to acces a web page to see if your Mac is connected to the internet. If this is not the case, you can continue this guide and search for the error.

Problems of connectivity to the internet is often caused by changes made in the password. This can be corrected by deleting the settings and the associated RADIUS servers and then setting up the network from the beginning. Go to ‘Open Network Preferences’, turn the Airport off and choose ‘Advanced’ as described on page 3. In the appearing window, you will see a list of preferred networks on your Mac under the tab ‘Airport’. Here you must remove the eduroam network by clicking it once and choosing the minus-sign just beneath the list.

Select the tab ‘802.1X’. Under ‘User Profiles’, select ‘WPA: eduroam’ and delete it by clicking the minus-sign below. If there are other ‘WPA: eduroam’ profiles, these must be deleted as well. Now choose ‘OK’ in the lower right corner and click ‘Apply’ in the window you return to.

Finally you must delete the RADIUS servers and your login which are saved in your Mac’s Keychain. Open Spotlight by clicking the magnifying glass in the upper right corner or by using the shortcut command + space. Search Spotlight for your Keychain by writing ‘Keychain’ in the search field, then click the result with the symbol of a keychain.

In the upper left corner beneath ‘Keychains’, ‘login’ should be highlighted. Under ‘Category’, choose ‘All items’. Now you must find and delete the following these four items: - WPA: eduroam - ASB issuing CA

All four items may not be present in the Keychain. The ones you find must be deleted either by using backspace or by right clicking them and choosing ‘Delete’, e.g. ‘Delete “WPA: eduroam”’.

- radius2.asb.local - test.server.some.company.com

When deleting items in the Keychain, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to delete the items in question. Choose ‘Delete’ for the above mentioned three items. You may be asked to confirm by entering the password for the local profile on your Mac. This is the password you have created for the profile and not the password associated with your username at Aarhus University.

You can now close the Keychain and set up eduroam from the beginning by using this guide. If you are still unable to connect to the internet after setting up the network again, you are welcome to contact the IT-support of your main academic area by using the following link: http://medarbejdere.au.dk/en/administration/it/it-at-the-mainacademic-areas/
