Responsible for co-facilitating a Seeking Safety Group for substance abusing veterans with and without post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Responsible for developing and serving as the lead group therapist for an intervention for veterans with or without PTSD who have difficulties tolerating emotions, reducing distress, and functioning interpersonally, based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), called Effective Living Skills Group. Responsible for serving as a primary individual therapist utilizing cognitive processing therapy and other evidence-based protocols to promote the recovery veterans struggling with PTSD, depression, and other common sequalae of trauma among veterans with PTSD. Co-designed an intake, assessment, and treatment process for a two-stage sequential group trauma treatment program with Samuel Daily, M.S., LPC, and Josette Cline, Ph.D. Educated counseling center staff members on the uses of both the Counseling Center Assessment of Psychological Symptoms (CCAPS), and the Outcome Questionnaire-45 (OQ-45) in tracking client progress in order to facilitate early intervention in cases of client decompensation. Consulted on program evaluation. Attended weekly individual supervision and multi-disciplinary team meetings. Provided diagnostic and treatment services to students at the University of Arkansas. Assessed suicidality while working as an emergency on-call therapist. Attended weekly group and individual supervision, along with multi-diciplinary treatment team meetings. City of Alexandria Community Services Board Group home counselor (August 2006 – July 2008). Monitored and assisted residents at a group home for dually-diagnosed consumers in developing the necessary skills to encourage independent living and growth, such as: cooking, hygiene-maintenance, employment interviewing, and budgeting skills. Monitored or administered medication to all group home residents on a daily basis. Worked intensively with case managers, day program staff, and senior counselors in order to support more difficult residents in their recovery. Tracked and recorded client progress using Anasazi. Conducted weekly house meetings to discuss outstanding issues and receive consumer/patient input. Lead weekly outings, in teams and independently, for all residents to help increase exposure to the surrounding community and cultural resources in order to improve resident social networking skills. Assisted diabetic consumers in managing their diabetes through diet and proper medication adherence on an ad-hoc basis.
