EDUARD: NEWS IN MARCH 2006

MARCH 1st, 2006

NÜRNBERG – POST SCRIPTUM How was the show? Lots of new things, or just a few? Any surprise? Surely yes, some surprises were born, and we hope some of our news and announcements ranked highly among Nürnberg's disclosures. Our mock-up of the Fw 190 got positive comments, as well as our Bf 110 design. We eventually received four awards, two by Modell Fan magazine (for the Hetzer and Fokker D.VII (OAW)), and two from Kit magazine (also for the Hetzer and for the Bristol Fighter). I´m personally pleased with the Brisfit award especially since this kit is still a bit obscure and hasn't had the chance to build up a reputation yet. But, with a saturation of awards and medals these days, perhaps some of the relevance of them has faded a bit...

KIT RELEASES IN MARCH There is no real big new kit release to announce for the month among the following three, with the real news coming out soon. There is even no real new kit except for the set of Japanese AF crew figures in 1/48th scale. Six men and one bicycle will be found inside the standard box, and some photo-etch parts are included. Most of them are details for the bicycle.

Except these figures, two new releases are here, one in 1/72nd and one in 1/48th scale, and both in the LIMITED EDITION lne. The 1/72nd scale one is the good old Albatros D.V, in this case it is coming in the form of DUAL COMBO sub-line with six Jasta 5 colorful markings, two sets of PE details and th two sets of plastic parts in the box. The second release, in 1/48 scale, is the Yak-1b, an original Accurate Miniatures kit in Eduard packaging. The Yak box contains four marking options and, of course, a sheet of color PE details.

NEXT? The LIMITED EDITION line will continue soon with couple of new releases. In 1/72nd scale, the closest to release is the L-39 Albatros in civil markings. Two markings of the blue Albatroses will be included, one representing the Albatros flown in Russia, and the second one in the USA. To make your decision which one is better to build easier, we are going to release this Albatros in the DUAL COMBO boxing, with two set of plastic parts. We have more plans with Albatroses, our jet one, as well as with the WW I aircraft, so this is not the last Albatros box that you will ever be introduced to. With respect to 1/48th scale LIMITED EDITION line, some other items are in the works. We want to see a new Airacobra box in our line, which will be of the AIRACOBRA Mk.I, also in the DUAL COMBO pack. Except two kits and PE sheets, this box will contain markings for a couple of RAF No.601 Sq. aircraft, and a couple of highly eyecatching Russian Airacobras. The reason for the Russian markings being added to such a British sounding content is that most of the British Airacobras were later sent to the USSR, and these aircraft were actually the first of many Soviet Airacobras.

The newly aformentioned awarded Brisfit is also coming into the LIMITED EDITION line, with a special fish fuselage marking. So, it will be more 'Brisfish' than Brisfit. This kit will be made in a single pack only, with single marking inside this one being interesting enough that it is not deemed necessary to add any other. The Spitfire Mk.22/24 (ex-Airfix) wil be another of the Eduard LIMTED EDITIONs, in this case with an Aires resin cockpit interior, our color PE sheet, and four marking options. A Mirage 2000 with Tiger meet markings will be another ex-Airfix/Heller kit acquired and added to our line. And what about the BIG ones? Well, the I-16 will be first, most probably in April, and specifically the I16 Type 10 in VVS markings. This first of many I-16s will contain four Soviet markings, no Spanish to be included in this box it seems to make sense that the Spanish Mosca should be released separately, right? A DUAL COMBO should be good for the Spanish one, it should cover both service periods of the type in Spain, in Republican service as well as in post-war, more accurately post civil war, service. The next I-16 release after the Type 10 (VVS) will be the Type 24. Before the summer,

sometime in May or June, we are going to release the third production version of the Fokker D.VII, which is the Albatros production aircraft, known as the Fokker D.VII (Alb). This will be another highly colorful release! Both of these kits will also be the subject of a ROYAL CLASS boxing. The Fokker has already been widely announced, and more information about the I-16 ROYAL CLASS will be issued soon. Early summer will see our return to AFVs again, at which time we will release a midproduction Hetzer, and a couple of 1/72nd scale Shermans in a DUAL COMBO packaging. And then the biggest Eduard aircraft kit ever made will arrive - our Fw 190A, with the Fw 190A-8 coming first!

PHOTOETCH IN MARCH Month by month, we release new set after new set of PE, and this March is no exception. Some highly interesting sets are here for the March collection. With 1/72nd scale aircraft, we finally have the Hunter F.Mk.6 color set. It was already expected last month, but it is coming now with a small delay. In the world of 1/48th scale, two Vindicator sets for the Accurate Miniatures kits should be among the most interesting March releases, if it is not the Fw 190A-3 set for the fresh Hasegawa kit. However, the fourth 1/48th scale set, for the A-4M, is a longer-time awaited and wanted item. So, at least for nd someone, this one should be at number one, right Martin? In 1/32 scale, we have three new items, all for very new kits. All these sets are color, two are for new A-7E from Trumpeter, and one for F-18D by Academy.

As far as AFV set go, there's more than just a few, as usual. In 1/72 scale, we have a further Sd.Kfz.251 set for the Dragon kit, this being an Ausf.D version following the Ausf.C released in February. Three Sd.Kfz.251 sets are also released in 1/35th scale, all these sets are designed for Dragon kits (Sd.Kfz.251/7 Ausf.D). Dragon kits have more sets in our March collection as well, for two magnificent kits, the Pz.IV Ausf.E and the Flak 36/37 88mm. Two sets are made for Russian kits, the Wespe by Alan, and the Bergepanther by ICM. The final March 1/35th scale release is designed for our own kit, the Hetzer. Three AFV sets are in 1/48th scale, all for Tamiya kits, two for the M-10 and one for the Jagdpanther. Except these AFV and aircraft sets, there are also two rivets sets in the 00 line, one with positive and one with negative lines of rivets. Although these sets are released in the 00

line, don´t be mistaken, these are no template sets, they are made for direct application to the kit surface. The list of March PE sets rounds out with six new BIG ED packs, where four are in 1/48th scale, with the remaining two in 1/32nd and 1/72nd. NEXT PHOTOETCH COMING? Of course. Many! In 1/32nd scale, the new Ju 87G set is close to be released. In 1/48th, the P-47M for the new Tamiya kit, the F-18E for Hasegawa, and a couple of big bombers the B-17G, Lancaster, and the B-26. Most interesting in 1/72nd should prove to be Helldiver for the new Academy kit. In 1/35th scale AFV line, the StuG III Ausf.B for Tamiya's kit (Shürzen set is also in development), the Pz.IV Ausf.C for the Tristar kit, leFH 18/40 for AFV...Some ships sets are in development, such as for the North Carolina (Trumpeter) and New Jersey (Tamiya) in 1/350 scale, and for the 1/72nd scale new Uboot type VII/1941. And we also have the new Trumpeter Kriegslokomotive BR 52 in our offices now. Guess why!
