E-consultation, Step by Step

We developed the e-consultation as a way of helping clients express their ideas clearly to both themselves and the artist. The e-consultation answers the 5Ws: Who, What, Where, Why and When, and includes How questions. For example: How do I reserve an appointment? The first part of the e-consultation asks the question, WHO are you? Tell us your name, address, best email* address, phone number, what you do for a living and your interests/hobbies. Include any illnesses or health conditions that we should know about. For example: diabetes, epilepsy, HIV+, herpes, hepatitis, eczema, psoriasis, ichthyosis, PTSD, depression, anxiety, any heart condition or allergies. *When you email us please always use the same email address to avoid confusion.

WHAT is your tattoo concept? If it is a coverup, renovation or enhancement of an existing tattoo or scar, you will need to attach an image of the existing tattoo or scar to be modified. If you have a drawing include it in your attachments. Specify the style you want and send in image as email attachments or in a Word document but not murally or any other platform. Attaching the images and the e-consultation makes it easier to print out for the artist. Make sure that you attach images 4”X6” or larger not thumbnails or massive files. The following images in this pdf are all tattoos by Daemon Rowanchilde with the exception of the Traditional Japanese design by Horiyoshi III as credited in the caption.

Daemonic Energy Wave is the innovative style of Daemon Rowanchilde that he developed in the early 90s. Daemonic Energy Wave is an ink tapestry of tribal, black and gray, sacred geometry, and ornamental patterns into a unique signature style. Energy wave utilizes sharp, clean, black, curvilinear lines and complex, repeating patterns, often sacred geometry mandalas and spirals in gray shading and pointilism. This dynamic style emphasizes both positive and negative space and follows the natural contours of the body. Because so much of Daemon's art is influenced by energy, the tattoo is mapped directly on the body in real time and not predrawn (although some elements may be predrawn as a basic outline).

Polynesian Inspired: This style is very popular in full sleeve and half sleeve tattoos for men. Traditional Polynesian tattoo was made famous by The Rock Dwayne Johnson. Traditional Polynesian motifs of tikis, shells and geometric patterns used in a tattoo with unique and personal meanings to the wearer of that tattoo solely or in combination with other custom designed symbols of a similar aesthetic and system of meaning to the wearer that tells a story of events unique and personal to the wearers life. The strength of the bold black forms and graceful oceanic curves of the traditional Polynesian tattoo art and culture are respectfully honored and tastefully reinterpreted and often blended with other sources of inspiration and colour unique and personal to that wearer. Sometimes the wearer has roots in that culture but often they have found they resonate with that culture. Because so many of us are disconnected from our own indigenous roots the choice to seek inspiration from and to resonate with a particular indigenous culture is unique and personal to that wearer. This is in no way meant to disrespect this culture but only to honor it in that person’s own personal search along their golden thread towards wholeness and unity. . This style is mapped directly on the body in real time not predrawn (although some traditional motifs may be predrawn as a basic outline). Developed by Daemon Rowanchilde in 2008, spiral weaves can range from elegant curvilinear vines that weave and branch into spirals or may incorporate more complex Indian and Sanskrit design elements that are popular among yoga enthusiasts.

Coverups and Renovations can be very challenging for the artist to create something that will work aesthetically over the existing tattoo and in also deal with the energetic component of the toxic scar. Toxic scars and other kinds of can be intense with respect to psychospiritual healing. Besides the challenge of modifying something that is no longer pleasing to the client into something more aesthetic, the client may have experienced negative energy in the environment or from the tattooist during the execution of the original tattoo. The attitude of the tattoo artist can affect how the client feels about their tattoo. Whenever the client looks or thinks about the existing tattoo that they want covered, any negative energy stored there may echo back. Likewise a scar from a surgery or a negative event can echo. if a client has received a positive experience during the set (mindset of artist and client) and setting (environment) of tattoo process, then positive energy echoes back.

When working with toxic scars the tattoo artist has to be aware that the stored energy can rise up suddenly and may overwhelm the client (tears, fainting, anger, etc.) who is getting the cover-up or renovation. It can come up in memories of abuse that the client didn’t even know they had and as the energy bubbles up, it may get expressed. The artist must serve as a spiritual midwife to safely and compassionately deliver the client through the emotional chaos into a new state of being where they are in a transformed relationship with themselves on all levels.

The most difficult toxic scars to heal are not physical but psychospiritual in nature. This is the case of people suffering from PTSD, emotional abuse and addictions. In this case the healing process is more gradual and transformation and integration requires a multidisciplinary approach that includes psychotherapy, other forms of bodywork and meditation. WHY explores your personal impulse and motivation to get this tattoo by Daemon. This may include symbolic meaning embedded in the art and/or personal story. Sharing the meaning of your tattoo is entirely optional.

WHEN are you booking? Bookings are generally 3 months in advance. You will need to specify if you require a weekend date (Saturday or Sunday) or weekday, or consecutive days (maximum 4 days).

When can I expect to see a predrawing? Any necessary predrawing will be at Daemon’s discretion and will be an outline only, not a completed piece. Daemon will begin any necessary drawings a few days before the booking date. Small changes, for which there is no additional charge, can be done on the booking date. The outline is usually sent just before the confirmed appointment and details/patterns are always added at the time of the booking date. That said, to minimize the need for bigger changes or a completely new design (for which there will be an added cost), you must be very clear about what you want in your e-consultation. To avoid confusion and extra costs do not send images that are not directly relevant.

Additional nights will be charged $150 per night for our ensuite accomodation, and $100 per night for the regular room rate. The predesign (if necessary for your tattoo) will be an outline only, not a completed piece, thus making it more efficient for small changes, for which there is no additional charge. To minimize the need for bigger changes or a completely new design (for which there will be an added cost), you must be very clear in your e-consultation.

HOW do I care for my tattoo? After the session the tattoo will be bandaged and the client will be given a small tin of our recovery balm. In order to keep your new tattoo looking sharp we recommend that you follow the guidelines listed below. Use common sense. Do not substitute or overcompensate. If in doubt call us and we will happily answer your questions. Daily Procedures to Minimize Scabbing Remove bandage after artist recommended period. This will vary with the amount of work done. Wash your tattoo carefully with a mild, hypoallergenic soap twice a day. Gently pat dry. Do not soak. Apply the Recovery Balm recommended by the artist as directed and only as much as your skin will readily absorb. Our Recovery Balm is 100% natural and may be used to condition the skin long after the tattoo is healed. Keep the tattoo uncovered as much as possible. Tattoos need oxygen to heal properly. During Healing Avoid: • Sun • Lake water, sea water, chlorinated pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam baths, direct spray from s hower or prolonged soaking in bath • Scratching, picking, bumping, rubbing • Sweat or strain from exercise, including yoga • Clothing that may stick or rub and clothing that has been dry cleaned or chemically treated. Wear loose, natural fabrics that breathe. • Poor personal hygiene and poor diet. The tattoo pigment bonds to the skin cells in between the permanent basal layer and the constantly exfoliating epidermis. It is normal to have small pieces of inked skin flake off during the healing process. In approximately 4-8 days any flaking will be gone and your tattoo will be healed, but still very sensitive. Regular and frequent applications of the hydrosol spray and the healing balm will condition the skin, provide protection, and remove any milk scale (a translucent milky scale of skin that is visible on a new tattoo for a few weeks). After a few months you may sunbathe in moderation using a total (SPF 30 - 50) sunblock that provides both UVA and UVB protection. Apply frequently. If you must swim in chlorinated water, spread a thick layer of Recovery Balm or beeswax (organic only) over your tattoo. Some people find that a daily ingestion of echinacea in a glycerin base or a zinc supplement speeds healing.

In some cases (for example, on people who work in dirty or high infection risk environments like hospitals) the artist will cover the tattoo with tatu-derm clear bandage that can be removed the next day. It is normal to have the excess ink that sits on the surface to mix with fluids. Remove the bandage after 12 hours to ensure that no moisture sits on the tattoo for too long. Then wash the tattoo with mild soap and warm water and gently pat or air dry the tattoo before applying a minimum of the recovery balm. A video of how to remove tatu-derm bandage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLhQxzAy7jU Optimal healing requires no strenuous or sweaty activity or any risk of abrasion on the tattoo. Stress also can interfere with optimal healing. If you have to work long shifts it may be better to wait until you have at least one day off to relax and recover.
