Prices for many prescription medications have escalated sharply in recent years, leading to public outcry as consumers are forced to choose between paying for the drugs they need and other life necessities such as food and utilities. The discussion is complicated by the myriad variables and parties involved, including manufacturers, distributors, government agencies, insurers, and retail pharmacies, resulting in prices that can differ greatly from one geographic region to another. In addition to absolute costs, many also question pharmaceutical prices within the larger context of overall healthcare value. Is the benefit worth the cost? The AAPS Indiana-Ohio Discussion Group (IODG) is hosting an event to discuss this important and controversial issue, and we’ve invited experts involved in the debate to share their knowledge and opinions. We’re also hosting a poster session, and welcome posters on ANY topic related to pharmaceutical development and related disciplines (including those previously presented at other venues). If you would like to present a poster, please send the title, authors, and affiliation(s) to Li Li ([email protected]).
