FOURTIN BRUT NV £8.85 £11.50 £45 A great Champagne from a small producer in the Marne Valley, This Brut Non-Vintage is made from 60% Pinot Meunier, from the Vallee de la Marne, 35% Pinot Noir from the Cote des Bars and the remainder from Chardonnay grown in the villages of Nogent L‘Abbesse. This Champagne has a gentle golden colour and elegant aromas of citrus, toast and raspberries. The large percentage of Pinot has brought red berries and a succulent, fruit-driven core. The palate is refreshing with a touch of honey complexity and a long, finetextured finish.

NYETIMBER CLASSIC CUVÉE 2009 £50 Nyetimber is a true pioneer, the very first producer of English sparkling wines. Typical Champagne grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier give a pale gold wine with aromas of fresh melon, ripe lemon and sweet pea flowers. Fresh apricot and melon flavours appear on the palate, with a lovely tiny bubble texture. Apricot and bread continues on the long finish.

NYETIMBER ROSÉ 2009 £65 Vibrant antique rose colour with tiny bubbles. On the nose elegant aromas of mango, honey and star anise. Red cherry and small wild strawberries dominate the palate. Dry with round and soft texture. Finish is long and full with red currant and hints of fresh pastry.

043 GAVI DI GAVI 2014 Terre Da Vino £5.10 £6.75 £26 A superb single vineyard Gavi. The Cortese grapes are grown on a 25 hectare estate, Masseria dei Carmelitani, near the town of Gavi. Lively aromas of citrus fruits with a subtle nutty hint. On the palate, a crisp minerality which lingers. Gavi was made famous as the wine of the Italian Riviera in the 1950s.

It is a superb fruity driven wine with fresh apples, pears and elderflower aromas on the nose. On the palate it has an apple and pineapple character with lively fresh acidity, lifted finish and hints of freshly-baked bread. 053 FRIULANO 2013 Specogna £30 A well rounded, fresh wine from the foothills of the Southern and Western Alps. Spiced aromas on the nose with citrus and exotic fruit and a touch of white peach, complemented by sage and white pepper. A powerful wine with good acidity, a well orchestrated fruit character and a long and fragrant finish.
LOMBARDIA 070 PINOT BIANCO 2014 La Prendina £4.20 £5.50 £21 Pinot Bianco is a much under-rated variety. However, in the hands of a brilliant winemaker it shows just what it is capable of achieving. Made from the family vineyards just south of Lake Garda, an absolutely delicious blend of citrus fruit and balancing acidity.

Intensely perfumed and concentrated aromas of almond essence and honey, a touch of vanilla flavour, almond kernel, ripe apricots and exotic fruit. Long and minerally on the finish.

BIANCO 2014 A Mano £22 An equally proportioned white made by a Californian, Mark Shannon, who fell in love with Puglia when he visited a number of years ago. 15% of the Fiano grapes are dried for two months to give additional intensely of aromatic, exotic fruit. BARBERA D’ASTI “LUNA E I FALO” 2012 Terre da Vino £29 The Moon and the Bonfire: this wine is named after the novel by Cesare Pavese, a Piemonte novelist of the 1930s to 50s. The grapes are from a number of very small vineyards, and the yields have been reduced to ensure a greater concentration of flavour. This medal-winning wine has a full, ripe nose, and a mouth-filling, big flavour with a long, structured finish.
PIEMONTE – BARBARESCO 170
BARBARESCO 2011 Produttori Del Barbaresco £7.20 £9.50 £37 In 1894 Domizio Cavazza created the first cooperative, the “Cantine Sociale”, by gathering together nine Barbaresco vineyard owners to make wine in the local castle that he owned. The 2009 vintage is very forward with full body, deep colour and good acidity.

BARBARESCO RIO SORDO 2009 Produttori Del Barbaresco £50 Barbaresco Rio Sordo is the most exiting Cru from Produttori Del Barbaresco. This 11-acre southwest facing vineyard of calcareous limestone with sandy veins, gives a wine with concentrated aromas of dark cherries, eucalyptus, tobacco and herbs. It has a masculine and meaty structure on the palate with grippy tannins and a long and complex finish.
PIEMONTE – BAROLO 180
BAROLO “PAESI TUOI” 2010 Terre da Vino £7.60 £9.95 £39 The great Barolo, produced in a handful of villages south of Turin, is often regarded as the pinnacle of Italian wines, using the temperamental grape, Nebbiolo. Matured for at least 2 years in large oak barrels, this wine is aromatic with tones of cinnamon and berry, medium to full bodied, elegant tannins and a lovely, fresh berry finish.

BAROLO 2010 Massolino £60 Franco Massolino marries change to a respect for tradition, which sets him apart from most younger producers in Barolo today. Matured for 30 months in oak, this wine is garnet red with attractive perfumes of rose petals and a hint of liquorice. On the palate, it is full bodied, with good structure and a lovely balance of ripe, raspberry fruit, with savoury notes and plenty of ripe tannins.

REFOSCO 2012 Specogna £5.70 £7.50 £29 Refosco is an ancient, dark-skinned grape variety from Friuli Venezia Giulia. Youthful ruby red colour and spicy, brambly perfume on the nose giving way to rounded ripe fruit on the palate. Refosco produces rich, rounded wines, well-structured to support the juicy, blackberry fruit character.
