UNIVERSITY CENTER The University Center has modern classrooms, offices, labs, seminar rooms and study areas. It houses student services, information commons, the ASU Bookstore and a small café/coffee house. The ASU Police desk and the Student Success Center are on the first floor of the building. The writing center and the Barrett Honors College office are located there as well. The Information Commons also known as the library and Student Computing/Computing Support are in the basement. Only the computers near the customer service desk are open to the general public. All computers are open to students. WALTER CRONKITE SCHOOL OF JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATIONS In August 2008, the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication moved to a state-of-the-art journalism education complex in the heart of downtown Phoenix. The design includes a large forum for public events, five digital newsrooms, two new media laboratories, seven other computer labs, two TV studios and control rooms, dozens of digital editing bays, a 150-seat auditorium, four other fully mediated classrooms, seven conference rooms and a Student Services Center with a reading room and interviewing rooms for internship and job prospects. 11. NURSING AND HEALTH INNOVATION BUILDINGS 1 AND 2 From a program that graduated only six people in 1960, the College of Nursing & Health Innovation has grown to include more than 8,000 graduates. The college has evolved from a small baccalaureate program to the largest supplier of nurses in Arizona with Bachelor of Science and advanced practice nurses and is the only university offering an on-campus Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing & Healthcare Innovation (PhD) degree. In addition, the college is offering a Master of Healthcare Innovation degree, the first of its kind in the nation. The ASU Health Center is located in Suite 155 on the first floor of the College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation building. Students, faculty and staff from any ASU campus and the general public are able to access quality, affordable healthcare while studying or working in the Downtown Phoenix area. 16. TAYLOR PLACE The first phase of Taylor Place opened in August 2008 with the capacity for 744 residents, the second phase (tower two) opened in August 2009 with an additional 540 beds and both have twelve floors. The laundry machines inside the residential hall text students when they are finished, there is an in-hall fitness center with cardio and weight lifting equipment and a designated computer/study area on every other floor. Dining on campus is a quintessential part of the overall college experience! Taylor Place includes a new, state-of-the-art Residential Restaurant, conveniently located on the ground floor of Taylor Place. After a survey was taken by students Taylor Place added: a kitchen for students to cook in, Devils Den, a place for late night entertainment and Devils Greens, late night dining. 19.
