Second Installation

Additional Installation and Upgrade Information All of the standalone installations (for example, for the load generator) can be found on the DVD's Standalone Applications folder. All of the additional components (such as the Citrix Agent and so forth) can be found on the DVD's Additional Components folder. You can install LoadRunner 12.53 over an existing, earlier version of LoadRunner. If, however, you have a pre-11.00 version of LoadRunner, you must uninstall it before installing LoadRunner 12.53. If you install Network Virtualization as part of the LoadRunner installation, you may need to restart the machine after setup. If you have an older version of VTS, uninstall it and reinstall the latest version from the Additional Components folder on the DVD. Protocol SDK is now an extension to Visual Studio 2015, and no longer an extension to Visual Studio 2012. Consequently, all projects created with LoadRunner 12.50 and earlier must be upgraded. For details, see Protocol SDK in the LoadRunner Help Center. To replay ODBC Protocol scripts on Linux machines, unixODBC v.2.3.1 or higher is required. Virtual Environments: The architectures provided by virtualization vendors are rapidly evolving. LoadRunner is expected to function as designed in these changing environments, as long as the third-party vendor guarantees full compatibility of the virtualized environment with the LoadRunner-approved hardware requirements. If you follow LoadRunner system requirements and support matrix to create the virtual machine, LoadRunner will work correctly. Working on top of a virtual machine may require access to the virtualization server hardware/monitoring

environment, to ensure the virtualization server is not saturated; otherwise, this might obscure the virtual machines measurements and lead to false results.

Notes and Limitations This section includes pre-installation notes, issues, and workarounds for LoadRunner version 12.53. For additional limitations and workarounds, see the Troubleshooting and Limitations sections in the Help Centers. Installation Permissions VuGen and Protocols TruClient Controller and General Help and PDFs Non-English Operating Systems Integrations Deprecated Protocols and Features

Installation Windows

When you have multiple LoadRunner components installed on a machine for example, both VuGen and Analysis (standalone versions) and you uninstall one of the components—after the uninstall, you must run Repair on the remaining components. If you install a language pack after you have already generated an Analysis session, you will not be able to open the session file (.lra). You can only open it on a machine with the same regional settings as the machine upon which it was generated. You can, however, open the raw results, the .lrr file. If you have VuGen standalone and BPM installed together on a single machine, and you remove BPM, you should run a Repair installation on VuGen. Linux

When uninstalling a load generator on a Linux machine, the uninstall process may fail and the following message may appear: "Error: failed & because &: cannot restore segment port after reloc: permission denied." Workaround: Use the setenforce 0 command to disable SE Linux before uninstalling the load generator. When the uninstall is complete, use the setenforce 1 command to enable SE Linux. Coexistence with Unified Functional Testing (UFT)

If you install or uninstall LoadRunner on a machine where UFT is installed, at the end of the process a warning message is displayed: "Cannot load resource file /mdrv_res.e2 (/mdrv_res.j2)." Ignore this message. If you install LoadRunner and UFT on the same machine, and then uninstall one of them, the remaining software program may not function correctly.

LoadRunner Readme

Workaround: Run a Repair of the software program you want to use on the machine.

A machine with LoadRunner and UFT, in which UFT was installed after LoadRunner, may not allow the recording of certain protocols, such as Ajax Click & Script. Workaround: Uninstall UFT and run a Repair on the LoadRunner installation. If you install UFT on a load generator machine when the load generator agent is running, the remote Controller may not be able to run UFT scripts on the load generator machine. Workaround: After installing UFT, restart the load generator agent using the Agent Configuration utility, or alternatively reboot the machine.

Permissions The TruClient browser for Internet Explorer requires Read access to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer registry key and Write access to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Hewlett-Packard\TruClient registry key. Issue: When running the LoadRunner License utility with UAC enabled, LoadRunner prompts you for administrator credentials. Resolution: Run the utility as administrator. Issue: When recording and replaying TruClient - Web scripts (and recording Web protocol scripts) on a

Window Server operating system, it is recommended to turn off Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (IE ESC). Resolution: In Windows 2012 R2: Server Manager > Local Server > Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration. In Windows 2008 R2: Server Manager > Security Information > Configure IE ESC. Issue: When using the Visual Studio and add-ins to create C# and VB .NET scripts: Visual Studio creates

.NET assemblies that need to be registered in the system before their run. Registration of the .NET assembly requires administrative permissions. Resolution: Enable UAC and register the .NET assembly before running the test using one of these methods: Run Visual Studio "As Administrator" and provide administrative credentials when prompted. In Project Settings, ensure that the Register for COM interop option is set (Project > Properties > Build > Register for COM interop). Visual Studio will automatically register the test DLL as a .NET assembly every time it builds the project. Run Visual Studio without administrative permissions, and manually register the test DLL after it is built. To do so, run Windows Console with administrative permissions and run the following command: %WINDIR%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\RegAsm.exe /codebase

(ignore the warning issued when you run this command). For example, you might replace with c:\users\qatest\documents\visual studio 2015\Projects\LoadRunnerUser1\LoadRunnerUser1\LoadRunnerUser1.dll. You do not need to register the DLL after every build. It is enough to register it once after making changes in the COM interfaces defined in the DLL. Issue: The IP Wizard does not function for a Limited user. Resolution: Run the IP Wizard with administrator permissions. The IP Wizard uses raw sockets to

communicate with remote machines. Therefore, administrative privileges are required for opening and using raw sockets in socket-based communication. For more information, see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us /library/windows/desktop/ms740548%28v=vs.85%29.aspx. Alternatively, you can set the IP Wizard settings locally on the target machine. Issue: When recording a Web-based protocol script, the recording may fail in certain installations, if Data

Execution Prevention (DEP) is enabled.

Resolution: Disable DEP on your VuGen machine. For details, see How to Record a Vuser Script in the

User Guide. Issue: The network settings for load generators on Linux machines cannot be configured by a standard (non-administrator) user account. Resolution: When working on a Linux operating system, run lr_agent_settings with administrator permissions.

VuGen and Protocols Issue: When you run a Java script, the replay status may be Script Not Run and some errors may appear in the mdrv.log file. However, due to Java internal architecture, these errors may not be included in the VuGen Output and Errors panes. This occurs when VuGen fails to initialize a Java Vuser, and JVM then terminates the replay process. Workaround: Look for errors directly in the mdrv.log file (you can find this in the script’s folder). If the entry

in the log is due to a memory-related issue, try using different memory options for Java in the runtime settings. Issue: When recording mstsc.exe on Windows 10, if the RDP server side enables FIPS, the default

recording will produce the following error: "Because of an error in data encryption, this session will end. Please try connecting to the remote computer again." Workaround: Either turn off FIPS on the server side, or perform the following procedure to enable recording using the SSL mode:

a. Open mstsc, enter the IP address of the RDP server, click Show Options to expand the dialog box, and then click Save As to save the configuration to a file. Name the file RDPConfig.RDP. b. Open RDPConfig.RDP with Notepad, add enablecredsspsupport:i:0 at the bottom. Search for authentication level in the same file, make sure this line is authentication level:i:2. c. Go to LoadRunner's dat folder, open rdp_ro.ini with Wordpad or Notepad++ (do not use Notepad because of the new line characters issue), add SupportSSL=1 at the bottom. d. In VuGen, click Start Recording. In the Remote Desktop Connection dialog box, click Show Options. Click Open, and choose the RDPConfig.RDP file that you saved above. Then click Connect. Issue: When recording a script, some applications may be unable to connect to a server using SSL. Errors such as "Invalid certificate" and "SSL Handshake Failed" may appear. This is because VuGen now uses SHA-256-signed certificates for recording of SSL-encrypted communication instead of the older SHA-1signed certificates. Workaround:

Instruct VuGen to use SHA-1-signed certificates, as follows: a. Add the following lines to \config\vugen.ini: [WebRecorder] ProxyCertificateHash=sha1 b. Delete the following files from \bin\certs\: wplusCA_Expiration_2022.crt wplusCAOnly_Expiration_2022.crt

wplusCert_Expiration_2022.crt c. Restart VuGen and record the application again. In order for LoadRunner to work correctly with SAPGUI 7.40, patch gui740_05_1-10013011 (or later) must be applied to the SAPGUI installation. 64-bit replay for C Vuser scripts is not supported on Linux-based load generators. Java-based technologies are not yet supported by Microsoft Edge browser. Therefore, we do not recommend selecting this browser emulation for the replay of Java-based protocols (Flex, Java over HTTP, Oracle NCA). If you encounter issues with connecting to HPLN for the HPLN integration, you can try the following link: https://softwaresupport.hpe.com/group/softwaresupport/search-result/-/facetsearch/document/KM02133819 When running a LoadRunner component on a Windows 10 machine, using Microsoft Edge as the default browser, some links within the component may not work if UAC is disabled. Network Virtualization is not supported for scripts using HTTP/2 protocol. Web Page Diagnostics are not supported for scripts using HTTP/2 protocol. Disable Web Page Diagnostics in Controller > Diagnostics > Configuration > Diagnostics Distribution dialog box. Uploading a buffer (request body) larger than 64 KB is not supported for scripts using HTTP/2 protocol. Debugging features such as step-by-step replay and breakpoints, and debugging in Eclipse, are not enabled in Java-based protocols with Java 8. When you use VuGen to create a scenario, if the Controller is open [and was opened by double-clicking on a .lrs scenario file], you will not be given the option to add the script to the current scenario, and the Controller will be closed, losing any unsaved changes. When you correlate a value from a snapshot, VuGen may create a boundary-based correlation, even though the recording correlation option is set to use regular expressions. If you open an HPE site in the embedded browser and the site is not included in the trusted sites list, you will be prompted to add the site to the trusted site list. After adding the site, you may receive a Web site scripting error. Close the error and continue working as you normally would. Runtime errors generated during the replay of VBScript scripts, may not be handled properly. It is recommended that you port existing VBScript scripts to C. Possible Workaround: Enable the Continue on Error option in the Runtime setting. When adding a conditional breakpoint based on a parameter value, the value is not updated immediately. Therefore, in the script step that follows, the condition may be ignored even though the argument value has been updated.

TruClient TruClient is not supported for Chromium on 32-bit operating systems. If you added custom configurations to the pref.js or user.js files for TruClient scripts recorded with LoadRunner 11.52, you will need to re-add them to the LoadRunner 12.xx script files. Tip: it is recommended that you back up existing files before you begin editing scripts with custom configurations in LoadRunner 12.xx. Execution time of TruClient scripts replayed with Chromium will appear slower than those replayed on TruClient Firefox/Internet Explorer. This is a result of the TruClient instrumentation on the Chromium

browser. This will primarily impact the throughput generated by the Vusers. Tip: Run additional TruClient Vusers on more load generator machines than you would with TruClient Firefox/Internet Explorer. TruClient script conversion to Web - HTTP/HTML is not supported for converting to a JavaScript language script. The new Generic API Action step is not supported for Chromium. Use Evaluate JavaScript instead.

Controller and General When using a Unified Functional Testing (UFT) script in the Controller, the runtime settings cannot be opened for editing. The Controller may stop functioning if you try to access the runtime settings. Workaround: See this Knowledge Base article: KM02290342 When using the SiteScope monitor, you cannot change the counters already saved with scenario. Workaround: Remove all existing SiteScope counters, close the dialog box and re-add them. When you stop a named VTS instance, the instance may continue to run until you restart the VTS Windows service, which will block you from creating an instance with the same name or port. Workaround: Restart the VTSService Windows service. For example, use the “net stop vtsservice” to stop the service, and “net start vtsservice” to restart it. The XSS and Remedy DFEs are supported only on Windows load generators. Webtrace is not supported with -proto tcp" and "-proto udp in the following Linux environments: RHEL 7, OEL 7, and Ubuntu 14.04.

Help and PDFs For LoadRunner installed on a Windows Server operating system, Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration must be disabled in order to view Help Center content. It is enabled by default (Control Panel > Administrative tools > Server manager > Configure IE ESC). In certain machines with high level security settings, you need to trust the domain (lrhelp.saas.hpe.com, vugenhelp.saas.hpe.com, tchelp.saas.hpe.com) in order to view the Help Center. To do this, open the Help Center in Internet Explorer, and accept the site as a trusted domain. Then you will be able to use the context sensitive and menu help from the product. On Windows 8.1 and higher, disabling UAC may block Acrobat Reader from opening PDF files. Follow the Windows Help instructions to enable UAC and trust Acrobat.

Non-English Operating Systems For script recording with Web – HTTP/HTML protocol: If you are using an operating system with one of these languages—ru/ptbr/kor/ita—then recording a .pcap file with SSL recording is not supported. On non-English operating systems, several components may contain untranslated items, such as the Print Preview page in VuGen, log files, and installation screens. LoadRunner cannot record a Vuser script for certain protocols if the LoadRunner installation is on a Chinese operating system, and the installation path contains Chinese characters. Path names cannot be in multi-byte format. If you need to use non-English symbols in paths to scripts, scenarios, results, or analysis sessions, make sure to select the appropriate locale in the your machine's Region and Language settings. Script names, however, must be in English.

HPE Service Virtualization: A Service Virtualization project cannot be correctly imported to a scenario, if the Service Virtualization server uses credentials for both SSL and monitors. Workaround: Configure the Service Virtualization server to use credentials only for SSL.

Deprecated Protocols and Features This section provides information about protocols and features whose support was discontinued, or will be discontinued in future versions of LoadRunner and Performance Center. Note: In version 12.53, Mobile Application - HTTP/HTML protocol was unified with the Web - HTTP/HTML protocol.
