CHARITIES

Winter Festival supports many local charities in their fundraising efforts, and would love you to support them as well. This year we have a range of groups and organisations with numerous initiatives so please head to our charities page on www.winterfestival.co.nz for more information.

The Cancer Society will be fundraising throughout the festival – including a Celebrity Soup Kitchen at the American Express Opening Party and Fireworks, and a pop up CanShop at the Auckland Airport Community Carnival, to a Magic Up and Beyond event with well known magician Jonathon Usher for an afternoon of magic and other fun events. All funds raised help local people affected by cancer.

When it comes to winter, there is no better place to celebrate the season than in Queenstown. The festival is steeped in history – 2016 will be its 42nd year.

Arrowtown PTA will be selling glow sticks at the American Express Opening Party and Fireworks to enhance the experience, so look out for them, they will be hard to miss!

What began in 1975 as a great excuse to have a party has now evolved into a ten day extravaganza of Queenstown’s unique culture and community with street parties, fireworks, music, comedy, family fun and plenty of mountain mayhem!

Coastguard Queenstown are being supported by Mitre 10 Mega with a Raft Race at the iHeartRadio Day on the Bay, Sunday 26 June. Please visit page 18 for more information.
