General Information

Windows and windshields manufactured for the marine industry are individually designed to OEM specifications for specific boat models. This guide presents some of the many types of products manufactured by American Marine Products which are routinely fabricated to meet customer specifications. Information is presented about each product type, including specific features, dimensions, options, suitability for use, and ordering information. It is our hope that it will be an aid to you in specifying the product you need. Our engineering staff is accustomed to early involvement in the design of a new boat. We work in partnership with the designer to determine the best window or windshield product for the boat. In this manner you can be assured of attaining the optimum design. Ultimately this means success for you and long-lasting value for the boat owner. Bluewater Windshields The Bluewater line of curved windshields provides the boat designer the ability to create unique boat styles which are critically important in today’s marketplace. Every windshield is custom designed to fit the customer’s deck, satisfying even the most difficult requirements. Unlike standard windshields, an American Marine custom windshield will enhance and complement the styling and functionality of the boat, setting it apart from the others. Existing boat models can be more economically converted to curved windshields using the custom windshield approach rather than retooling the deck to fit a standard windshield.

The framing system of the American Marine curved windshield is fully welded, which provides strength and durability not found in mechanically framed windshields. This construction technique allows for the use of front opening vents or side wing vents not available in many curved windshields. Boats designed for use in temperate climates can thus have the advantage of opening vents to increase cockpit air flow.

There are many windshield options to choose from . . . . GLAZING All welded windshield frames will accept either 3/16” or 1/4” thick glass. Large or forward-facing sections are glazed with 1/4” glass, while smaller sections utilize 3/16”. In addition to the standard tempered safety glass, acrylic may be specified. Curved sections are typically glazed with acrylics. Optional bent tempered safety glass may be specified for frames of constant radius. DECK ATTACHMENT Curved windshields incorporate a screw channel in the sill, providing for fast and secure mounting from above the deck with screws. The channels are then closed with a vinyl cover to protect the fasteners and provide a finished look. WIRE CHANNELS American Marine has several optional headers which incorporate a wire channel for use in routing wires across the top of the frame to wiper motors and running lights. Wire channels can also be

placed in the vertical posts for best wire feed location from below the deck. These channels are closed with a flush vinyl cover providing a neat finished look to the installation. OPENING VENTS Top hinged opening front vents or push-out side vents are available in both the curved and the conventional windshield lines. Vents may be actuated with manual adjusters or with an electric actuator. HANDRAILS Solid 1” diameter aluminum handrails may be attached to the top of the wings to provide a secure handhold when moving about the boat. When long wings are required, handrails also improve wing stiffness. Handrails are normally mounted on the outside of the wing, but may also be mounted inside as cockpit hand-grabs.

Bluewater Windshields The conventional Bluewater welded windshield is appropriate for traditional boats requiring economical protection from wind and water. This line of custom designed windshields provides great adaptability to deck configurations which exhibit crown, camber or pitch in the side coaming. The aluminum extrusions utilized in the frames are generally heavier than most and are fully welded in the corners to provide great strength and durability, which means greater value to both the boat builder and the boat owner. The standard 3/4” thick American Marine framing system is supported by several types of headbars,

sills, posts, hinges and mullions to satisfy every possible design requirement. Opening front vents, push-out side vents, handrails, and wire channels are available. The American Marine windshield framing system is exceptionally versatile. Some of the many designs found in use today include 3 section center console windshields with handrails, 4 section cockpit and cuddy cabin windshields, 5 section windshields with center front vents, and multi-section flybridge windscreens for larger yachts. The possibilities are limited only by the designer’s imagination.

Trident Windshields The Trident windshield has been designed and engineered for larger express-style, open cockpit boats with typical lengths in excess of 40 feet. The heavy-duty 1 ¼” framing system provides the strength required of large windshields to endure higher loads encountered in offshore conditions. The fully welded Trident windshield frame provides extraordinary strength and durability under the most stressful conditions. Where smaller framed windshields will bend and vibrate, the Trident will remain stiff and strong. It is the combination of fully welded construction and larger framing which provides the safety and durability sought by today’s boat owner. GLAZING The Trident framing system supports the use of 3/16”, 1/4” or 3/8” tempered safety glass. For most requirements, 1/4” glazing is appropriate. In addition to tempered safety glass, acrylics are frequently used in the curved sections of the windshield.

VENTS The use of hinged opening vents in both the front frames and the wings afford constant natural air circulation in the cockpit at the dock or underway. Heavy gasket seals prevent water leakage through the windshield. Front vents are normally operated with electric actuators. Wing vents are equipped with sturdy T-handle latches to open and dog the vent closed.

DECK ATTACHMENT The windshield sills incorporate a screw channel for easy screw attachment to the deck. After mounting, the channels are closed with a vinyl cover to hide the screws and provide a finished look.

WIRE CHANNELS Integral within the windshield frame are wire channels used to route wires and hoses to wiper motors, lights, spray nozzles, etc. A flush vinyl cover closes the channels after installation, providing a finished look to the frames.

Guide to Window Products and Options American Marine offers both surface mounted and clamp-ring mounted windows for the marine industry. These solid aluminum windows are manufactured using all welded construction. The surface mounted windows have exterior flanges which allow for either direct bonding to the mounting surface with adhesives, or screw mounting with screws driven through holes in the flanges into the mounting surface. The clamp-ring mounted windows are installed by clamping the bulkhead between the window flange and a clamp ring inside the boat. The window corners may be either mitered (angular) or radiused (round). Trim rings and screens are available as an option. Refer to the chart below for full details.

Mariner Series

(Surface Mount)

The Mariner Series is a full line of windows which includes fixed, vented and 2-track sliding windows, both horizontal and vertical. The heavy framing in this line of windows has a 1” wide mounting flange, and can be glazed with either 3/16”, 1/4” or 3/8” (in fixed windows only) glass. They may be supplied with or without trim rings. These windows are suitable for use on recreational yachts and workboats up to and well over 100 feet in length.

Yachtsman Series

(Clamp-ring Mount)

The Yachtsman Series windows provide for clamp-ring mounting, eliminating screws on the exterior of the boat. This line of windows includes fixed, vented and 2-track sliding windows, both horizontal and vertical. The framing allows for 3/16”, 1/4” and 3/8” glass in the fixed and vented windows, and 1/4” in the sliding windows. This series of windows is appropriate for all sizes of boats, both recreational and commercial.

Mariner

Fixed Windows

Series

(Surface Mount)

The fixed window configuration provides a strong, leak-proof window for use in all but the most demanding conditions. Glazings up to 3/8” thickness assure high breaking strength. The unusually thick frame is designed for exterior mounting with fasteners through holes provided in the wide mounting flange, or can be mounted with structural adhesives rather than fasteners. Optional interior trim rings are described below.

GLAZING The fixed window frames are designed to accept 3/16”, 1/4” or 3/8” thick glass. 3/16” glass is recommended for use only in smaller windows, with ¼” glass being used in larger windows and in all windows facing forward. For vessels subject to severe weather conditions, 3/8” glazing should be specified.

The standard glazing material is tempered safety glass. As an option, windows may also be glazed with laminated safety glass or acrylic. In addition to clear glass, various tints may be chosen, including green, bronze, gray, or dark gray.

TRIM RINGS (Optional) Aluminum trim rings provide a finished interior look, and can serve as a backing plate for through-bolting. Trim rings are furnished with a spigot depth to match the wall thickness, or can be made flat (without a spigot) for use with thin walls. The mounting holes in the trim ring can be aligned with the window frame mounting holes, or can be offset. Aligned holes are used with through-bolted installations, while the offset holes allow finishing screws to be driven from both sides of the bulkhead. Refer to the drawing above. Mariner

Vented Windows

Series

(Surface Mount)

The Mariner top hinged full opening windows provide excellent ventilation, as well as improved visibility in the open position. Dual aluminum extension arm adjusters with lever handle locking knobs control and support the vent in the open position. When closed, the vent is firmly dogged into the frame with two handgrip style latches located at the bottom or on the side of the vent.

Integral hinge allows for easy removal of vent for service

The Mariner series mitered corner style window incorporates an integral hinge at the top which locks firmly into the frame, yet provides for easy removal of the vent for inspection and cleaning. The watertight seals are easily replaced when worn. The maximum opening of the vent is approximately 50 degrees from the closed position. In the Mariner series radiused corner style window, external aluminum hinges are fastened to the frame and the opening vent, and utilize a delrin hinge pin for a non-corrosive assembly. These external hinges allow the vent to open to an angle of 80 degrees. However, if opening angles in excess of 80 degrees are required, hatch-adjuster type extender arms are used in place of the standard vent adjusters. The opening vent size should not exceed 28” in height or 48” in width to prevent undue strain on the adjuster arms. Windows which are larger than this recommended maximum can be realized with a combination style window, using an upper (or lower) opening section combined with a fixed section. Mitered Corner Opening Window

If obstructions inside the boat immediately behind the window frame do not allow sufficient clearance for operating the vent adjuster or dogs, an upper opening vent with lower fixed section would be indicated. For service in predominately wet weather or heavy sea conditions, an upper fixed section with a vented lower section would be appropriate.

Side-Sliding Windows

Series

(Surface Mount)

Horizontal and vertical sliding windows are especially useful where opening windows are desired for ventilation, and the mounting surface is vertical (or nearly so). They are easy to operate, and are weathertight when closed. Side-sliding windows can be furnished in a large range of sizes from less than 2 feet to 10 or more feet in length. They are available in both mitered and radiused corner styles. WEATHER-TIGHT DESIGN

The Mariner series utilizes a Wedge-Lock glass divider designed to increase weather-tightness. In the closed position, the dividers interlock with each other forming a seal which prevents water intrusion under all but the most extreme conditions. An external silicone gasket is utilized to neutralize the effects of water pressure in stormy conditions or during washdowns. In addition, the high dam on the inside face of the sill diverts water out through drain slots on the outer face of the window. The Mariner series of sliding windows are typically used as pilothouse, galley, salon, and aft bulkhead windows in vessels of all sizes. The heavy extrusions used in this series of windows make them appropriate for larger windows on commercial vessels. Glazing is of 1/4” thick glass.

Screens are framed with solid aluminum extrusions insuring extraordinary strength and durability. They have the same finish as the window, and are screened with black nylon fabric. The screen can be mounted internally or externally. In horizontal sliders, the most common mounting is in the outer track just aft of the forward glass.

Yachtsman

Fixed & Vented Windows

(Clamp-ring Mount)

The Yachtsman series of fully welded windows provides clamp ring mounting, eliminating the need for screws outside of the boat. The appearance is pleasing to the eye, and the internal fasteners are out of the weather which reduces the potential for corrosion. The Yachtsman series is appropriate for the finest yachts as well as commercial and recreational boats. This line of windows is available in fixed, vented and sliding styles. VENT HINGE

The vent hinge is hidden within the frame to produce a flush outer surface. A 3/16” delrin hinge pin is used for strength without the potential for corrosion in the salt environment.

VENT ADJUSTER Vented windows are supported in the open position by two extension arm vent adjusters. A lever handle is used to lock the vent in any desired open position. Vents normally open to 80 degrees, but may be less in smaller windows. When closed, the vent is dogged firmly into the frame with two ergonomically designed latches.

GLAZING The Yachtsman series fixed and vented windows are designed to accept 3/16”, 1/4” or 3/8” thick glass. For normal service, 1/4” glass is recommended. In addition to clear glass, various tints are available. Refer to page 22 for information.

BULKHEAD THICKNESS To accommodate various bulkhead thicknesses, five clamp rings are available to clamp thickness from 1/4” to 2 1/8”. Each clamp ring covers a range of 3/8”. American Marine Products, Inc.

The Yachtsman series side-sliding window provides maximum ventilation for pilothouses, galleys, salons, and other enclosed spaces where vented windows are not appropriate. Sliding windows are weather-tight, easy to operate and positive locking. They can be furnished in a large range of sizes from less than 2 feet to 10 or more feet in length. The Yachtsman Series side-slider is only glazed with 1/4” glass.

THE CLAMP RING The easy-to-install clamp ring is fitted to the backside of the window on the inside of the boat. Screws are inserted through holes provided in the ring, thereby “clamping” the window into the bulkhead. To finish the installation, a vinyl cover is inserted in the clamp ring, hiding the screws and providing a finished look to the window.

CUT-OUT RADIUS The Yachtsman series radiused corner windows require a cutout radius of 3 3/8”.

Vertical-Sliding Windows

Yachtsman

Series (Clamp-ring Mount) and

The Mariner series or Yachtsman series vertical sliding windows are the choice when ventilation is required in narrow spaces, and the mounting surface is vertical (or nearly so). Vertical sliding windows are typically used in pilothouses, doors, aft bulkheads and galleys. They are easy to operate and lock firmly in the open position. The heavy extrusions in these windows make them appropriate for both recreational and commercial vessels.

Series (Surface Mount)

Vertical sliding windows are provided in two versions: (1) the lower glass slider lifts or (2) the upper glass slider drops. Latches on either side firmly stop the slider in the open position and lock the slider when closed. These windows are limited to 36” in width. The glass thickness is 1/4”, and are available in both radiused and mitered corners.

WEATHER-TIGHT DESIGN

SLIDE LATCHES The vertical lift slider is conveniently lifted with handles mounted to the Wedge-Lock glass divider. It is held in the open position by two slide latches within the divider. These spring-loaded slide latches penetrate into detents in the window frame, thereby anchoring the slider in a fixed open position. The detents are spaced every 3/4” for maximum adjustability. The vertical drop slider utilizes the same slide latch mechanism which is mounted in a latch block near the top of the window. The block also serves as a hand-hold for lifting the slider.

IN GENERAL •

All windows are designed to be mounted on flat surfaces only.

•

Horizontal sliding windows require the top and bottom frames to be parallel. Vertically sliding windows require the vertical sides to be parallel.

•

The hinges on all vented windows must be inline in order to rotate. Hence, vented windows can only be provided for mounting on a flat surface.

•

A variety of bedding materials are commonly used during installation. Use of a good quality polyurethane adhesive/ sealant or a polysulfide sealant is recommended.

Mariner Series Windows •

•

If the wall mounting surface has a slight curve, the window frame must be bent to match that curve during fabrication. There is a limit to the amount of curve which can be bent into the frames, and the glazing may require the use of acrylic lites to accommodate the bend. No mounting holes are drilled in the window frames if the windows are to be bonded to the surface with an adhesive. If screws are to be used to secure the window to the bulkhead, mounting holes are drilled and counter-sunk for #10 oval head screws.

•

Trim ring mounting holes are drilled in locations offset from the holes in the window frame. Holes are sized for #8 screws. If through-bolting is specified, the holes are sized for #10 screws and are drilled in line with the holes in the window frame.

•

Custom arcs and corner bends in window frames may require stretch-forming on a bending die. If the required radius is not available on standard in-house dies, a custom die must be built at additional cost.

•

The vent in all mitered corner opening windows will open to about 50 degrees maximum. In radiused corner opening

•

For radiused cornered windows, the cut-out radius is 3". If trim rings are provided, the cut-out radius is 3 1/4".

Yachtsman Series Windows •

Yachtsman clamp ring windows must be mounted on flat surfaces. The windows will not tolerate any camber or warp.

•

The vent in the opening window will normally open to 80 degrees, but may open less in smaller windows.

•

The bulkhead cut-out must be specified very accurately because the window flange capture is approximately 9/16" wide.

•

The corner cut-out radius is 3 3/8". Cut the radius accurately to assure adequate bulkhead capture between the window flange and clamp-ring.

•

Measure and specify the bulkhead thickness so that the window can be provided with the proper clamp-ring for that thickness.

The Model 320/325 Companionway Door is elegant in design yet rugged and durable. It is an ideal entry door for expressstyle boats or cockpit engine room doors for larger yachts. Its all aluminum construction and stainless steel hardware are suitable for the marine environment where a solid weathertight door is required. The front door can be left or right-handed, with various window options. The pop-up hatch may be either single panel or bi-fold. An optional interior clamp ring can be used for easy installation into any bulkhead. The double seal design keeps the door weathertight in all but the harshest conditions. Several window and finish options are available.

DOOR SIZE

FEATURES The 1 5/16” thick door is a sandwich construction of aluminum doorskins which are bonded to heavy rectangular stiles with methacrylate adhesive. The internal cavities are filled with Divinycell polymer core to provide exceptional thermal and acoustic insulation. The resulting door is lightweight and very rigid. The window glass is bonded to the doorskins with structural silicone.

Widths may vary from 20” to 48” and front heights from 30” to 60”. The hatch depth may be 16” to 40”. The design will accommodate a frame angle between the vertical bulkhead and top deck surface of 88 to 96 degrees.

HATCH COVERS The single panel or bi-fold hatch panels are lifted and held aloft with dual stainless steel air-springs. A single panel hatch is recommended for short depths and bifold panels for depths in excess of 30”. Bi-fold hatches are dogged on both sides to prevent lifting prior to folding.

WINDOWS Windows in various sizes and shapes may be installed into the front door and/or the hatch panels. The 1/4” tempered glass is available in a green, bronze, gray or dark gray tint.

The heavy hollow door frame design helps prevent distortion during installation, and serves to channel any water entering alongside the upper hatch panels or via the latch holes to the drain slots at the bottom. The fully welded frame thus minimizes water intrusion into the cabin. The primary door seal is a foam rubber D-seal which forms a continuous ring around the inside of the door frame. A secondary tubular anti-splash seal surrounds the exterior perimeter of the door to deflect water during washdown.

Installation An optional interior clamp ring makes installation simple by clamping the bulkhead between itself and the door frame. No shimming is required. And, there are no visible fasteners on the exterior surfaces of the frame. Bulkheads of 1/2 “ to 1 1/2” are suitable for clamping.

LATCH & LOCKSET A TrioVing Mod. 5336/8 latch is mounted in the front door, and glass-filled nylon dogs securely lock the hatch to the door. The stainless steel lockset is keyed outside with a knob inside.

HINGES Four 3” x 1.5” x .090” inch butt hinges and a 1.5” x .070” piano hinge (for the bi-fold hatch) are provided. All hinges are polished stainless steel.

FINISH Awlgrip or Imron polyurethane paint. Many color options are available.

Model 350 (Single Panel) - Model 355 (Dutch) - Model 360 (French) The Model 350 hinged entry door is elegant in design yet rugged and durable. It is ideal for use on finer yachts as well as commercial vessels. Its all aluminum construction and stainless steel lockset are suitable for the marine environment where a solid weathertight door is required. The door is provided with either mitered or radiused corners, and is available in either a single panel, Dutch, or French door configuration. Several hinge, lockset and finish options are available. This rugged 1 5/16” thick door is a sandwich construction of aluminum doorskins bonded to heavy stiles with structural adhesive. The interior spaces are filled with a polymer core. The hollow door frame design is not easily distorted during installation and serves to capture and drain any water entering via the latch holes out through weep holes at the base.

Sliding Entry Door Model 450

Model 450/460 Sliding Door The Model 450/460 sliding door provides a weathertight closure that is ideal for use on a wide range of vessel types. The rugged yet elegant design is of all aluminum construction and utilizes stainless steel hardware that is suitable for the marine environment. The doors are top-hung from an overhead track which is hidden beneath a removable cover. This design allows for long-term trouble-free sliding as very little dirt and debris accummulates on the overhead track. Furthermore, the top-hung design greatly reduces the floor clutter associated with bottom-hung doors. The door (or active panel on a bi-slider) can be left- or right-handed. An optional interior clamp-ring can be used for easy installation into almost any bulkhead. Several window configuration, frame finish, and glass tint options are available. PANEL

The Model 450 sliding door is a natural extension of the Model 350 hinged entry door. Sliding doors are ideal for applications in which there is insufficient space to accommodate a hinged door.

The door panels are a sandwich construction in which aluminum doorskins are bonded to heavy rectangular stiles using structural adhesive. The internal cavities are filled with Divinycell polymer core to provide exceptional thermal and acoustic insulation. The resulting door is lightweight and very rigid.

SEALS DOOR LATCH

Single panel sliding doors are made weathertight by controlling the gaps along each vertical edge and across the top and bottom of the door. The leading edge of the door closes into a pocket in the jamb. This pocket is fitted with bulb and pile seals to reduce water and air intrusion. The trailing edge of each door has a wedge-lock that interconnects with another wedge-lock on the adjacent jamb. The overlapping wedges virtually eliminate any gap between the door panel and jamb. The top of the door lies under an overhanging track cover, protecting that area of the door. The door sill uses pile weather-strip to reduce water intrusion under the door panel.

The standard lockset is a TrioVing Mod. 5382/8. A Mobella Mod. MM-99-17, with grab handle, is available as an option. The TrioVing is keyed outside and either a knob or key on the inside.

The window trim is then bonded to the inside of the glass. Many sizes and shapes are available. ROLLERS & GUIDE The doors are pre-hung using delrin wheels with adjustable stainless steel hubs that provide a smooth, non-corrosive operating mechanism. The overhead track area is hidden by a cover that can be removed during installation or door adjustment. A delrin torpedo guide at the bottom ensures proper alignment of the panels. CLAMP-RING

The Model 460 dual panel sliding door is a further extension of the sliding door family. This style door is typically used in applications requiring an unusually large entry opening, or where limited space is available for the overhead track extension. The dual panels adjoin at the centerline of the door frame, and slide fully to the edges of the door opening for maximum passage. The panels are linked together with a stainless steel cable so that they slide open and closed in unison. This linked design eliminates the need for door stops because the doors counterbalance one another, thereby holding each panel in position while underway. A full width torpedo guide at the bottom keeps the two panels aligned during closure.

Bi-Fold and Panel SHOWER DOORS American Marine shower doors provide a touch of beauty to the shower enclosure. Fabricated of aluminum frames finished in polyurethane paint, and fitted with ½” clear acrylic panels, these doors will make the head look larger and brighter. And the thick polished edge panels impart a quality feel to the installation.

The doors are available in either bi-fold or solid panel styles. The bi-fold style is especially practical in small enclosures where maneuvering room is limited. And the solid panel style has a very simple and elegant design which will strongly complement the aesthetics of the surroundings. Both doors include a towel rack which serves as a grip for opening and closing the door. The bi-fold door is designed to snap to a positive closed position. In the open position, a flip lock on the floor pan holds the door open and prevents movement and rattling while underway. The solid panel door is held closed with an internal spring latch, and auxiliary catches can be employed to hold the door in an open position. Both doors are provided with a deep drain pan which captures the water and returns it to the enclosure through large scuppers.

CUSTOM DOORS Standard doors are designed to fit a 20” wide by 66” tall opening. However, custom doors can be provided to fit slightly narrower, wider, shorter or taller openings. In addition, the side frames may be extended up and over the top of the opening to trim out an otherwise unfinished bulkhead. It is recommended that at least a 3” air gap be allowed above the door to aid air circulation and help prevent steaming in the enclosure. The door frames can be painted in any color to match an interior color scheme or gelcoat. Although the standard door has clear acrylic panels, custom door panels can be provided in a variety of translucent, frosted and opaque colors. Where the designer is forced into extraordinary design constraints, curved panels may be available. However, there are significant limitations in the use of curved panels. Available Finishes Windshield and window frames can be provided in a variety of finishes. The finishes available include clear anodize, polyurethane paint, or polyester powder coat paint. The powder coat finish provides a hard, durable surface in a semigloss texture. Powder coating is available in black or white only. Surface damage may be difficult to repair. Polyurethane paints, such as AwlgripTM or ImronTM, provide chemical resistance and a high gloss surface finish. Most are field repairable and touch-ups can be buffed smooth and blended-in with the original coating. Any color on the standard color charts may be selected. Polyurethane paints are to be used above the waterline only, and cannot be continuously in contact with wet coverings or continuously immersed in water. A clear anodize finish provides the longest-lived finish. This electro-chemical conversion of the aluminum surface provides a finish that strongly resists corrosion and allows the aluminum frames to remain bright. Clear

Glass Tint Choices Safety glass and acrylic plastic are available in various color tints which are helpful in reducing eye strain from solar reflection off the water. These tints are embedded in the glass or acrylic itself, and are not applied as surface films. Tints reduce both the amount of visible light and the ultra-violet rays which penetrate through the windows. Blocking some of the visible and UV light can help prevent interior surface damage and heat build-up, but it also reduces night vision. The American Boat and Yacht Council recommends that tints should not reduce visible light transmittance to less than 70% through windows which are used for piloting. However, for windows not used for piloting or navigation, low light transmission can be very desirable. Always consider the safety ramification when selecting a tint. Clear

CUSTOM FABRICATION American Marine’s primary business is the design and manufacture of windows and windshields for production boat builders. However, a part of our capacity is devoted to custom window and windshield fabrication for the smaller builder, the repair yard, or the individual boat owner. Our custom fabrication service yields the same high quality products as those we manufacture in production quantities. PRICING With relatively little information from you, we can estimate the cost to fabricate custom windows, windshields or doors to your specifications. To obtain a price estimate, you should provide information as to the type of window, windshield or door, its shape and dimensions, the finish and glass tint desired. Options such as screens and trim rings should also be indicated. You can use pages 6, 13 and 22 of this publication as a guide and checklist. If you have questions regarding the specifying of your desired product, please call us for assistance. Final pricing is subject to review of your submitted templates, drawings, or other specifications. When all of the required information is received, we will confirm the price and delivery of your custom product. Prices include cartoning for shipment unless indicated otherwise. Crating is often required to protect large units during shipment. There is an additional charge for crating.

TEMPLATES, DRAWINGS, and SPECIFICATIONS To assure properly fitting custom windows and doors, it is very important that you provide adequate size and shape information. We suggest that a template of plywood, masonite, door skin, or heavy paper be made to fit inside the window or door opening, or to indicate the overall perimeter. Label all templates with your name, the window or door type, the position on the boat, the orientation (top, bottom, forward, aft, left or right hinged, etc.), whether cut-out or overall size, location of any mullions, vents, sliding elements, glass type, finish, etc. In lieu of a template, an accurately dimensioned and labeled drawing can provide the necessary information. Windshields require more detailed measurements, as these are three-dimensional products. Not all windshield styles are appropriate for welded construction. Curved windshields require detailed templates and deck landing area measurements. In most cases expensive bending dies are required to achieve the required curves. The resulting cost is normally prohibitive for single custom windshield orders. For conventional windshields (flat panels) you may request a Windshield Measurement Worksheet that will aid you in taking the measurements needed to specify your windshield.

PAYMENT AND DELIVERY All custom fabricated orders require a 50% deposit at the time of order. Final payment can be arranged prior to shipment or will be collected on delivery (COD). Unless you specify otherwise, we will arrange to ship your product the best way, considering the overall size and weight of the order. Cartoning and crating are required to adequately protect most orders. Shipment is FOB our factory, and you pay all freight and COD charges. LIMITED WARRANTY

GENERAL INFORMATION (for OEM Customers)

American Marine Products, Inc. warrants its products, in normal usage, to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year from purchase by the original purchasing party, subject to the following conditions and limitations: A. American Marine’s liability shall be limited to the repair or replacement of the goods or parts defective in materials or workmanship. B. American Marine shall, at its sole discretion, decide the proper method of correcting the defect. C. American Marine shall not be liable for defects in the product finish due to: 1. Failure by the owner or user to properly clean and maintain the product according to the boat manufacturer or installer of the product. 2. Perforation of the finish by drilling, tapping, or attachment of surface mounted hardware to the product. 3. Failure by the owner or user to keep drainage holes free and open to discharge standing water which leads to corrosion and/or separation of the finish. D. Warranty claims for products that are purchased and installed by: 1. The boat manufacturer should be addressed to the boat manufacturer. 2. A boatyard or tradesperson should be addressed to that party. 3. The boat owner should be addressed to American Marine. E. All warranty claims must be made in writing. This warranty is American Marine Products, Inc.’s only expressed warranty. No implied warranty, including without limitation, the implied warranty of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, is hereby provided. American Marine Products, Inc. shall not be liable for any personal injury or property damage beyond the defective product warranty hereinabove extended, for loss of use of the product or the boat, nor for any other incidental or consequential damages, costs or expenses.

SHIPPING: You should indicate specific shipping instructions when placing orders. Otherwise, we will use our judgment in selecting the carrier and routing. Special crating for extra protection is available at additional cost. DAMAGE OR LOSS IN SHIPMENT: We ship FOB our factory, meaning that the goods transfer to the purchaser at the shipping point. You should thoroughly inspect the goods upon receipt. If there is damage you must advise the delivering carrier in writing no more than 15 days after delivery, and request that the carrier make an inspection. Retain all shipping containers and packing materials for their inspection. Repair or replacement shall be at the expense of the carrier. RETURNS: A return material authorization must be obtained from American Marine prior to returning product for repair or replacement. Return shipment must be in accordance with our shipping instructions. Products must be properly packaged to prevent further damage and returned in exactly the same condition as received.
