Tips to prepare technical article Our professional collaborators and correspondents: we would like to outline some tips we recommend you read before you start to write articles for the MM Industrial Spectrum magazine. 1. Interesting title of the article The title of the article will draw the reader‘s attention when he is deciding whether to start to read it or whether he should scroll through the pages further (it is not possible to use a title such as “A globally unique news from the ACD Company” – our journalistic experience shows that such a title will be certainly discouraging to the readers and at the same time using the name of the company in the headline is not allowed; on the other hand a short and concise title such as “Reducing the cost of machining” or “New trends in metrology” will increase the likelihood the article will be read). 2. Accurate and concise description of the article The second suggestion is about the accurate and short description of the article (therefore what you can tell your readers), so that they would be able to orient themselves as fast as possible in the time they have available for the examination of initial annotations (a frightening example would be the style in which you will describe the company, list all its branches, CSN, EN, ISO standards certificates and other details in several lengthy paragraphs, instead of using two or three sentences to say how you want to attract the readers to the article). Remember, the most important part of the article is right after the title! 3. Promote the product, not the company If you have managed to convince the readers to actually read the article, you have almost won. Don‘t lose that opportunity! Focus on the technical description of the specific product or technology, its advantages and the use in practice. We guarantee that if you start the article in the boring style such as that your company is the largest, in the greatest demand, the best in its field and if you will continue in this spirit, your previous effort will be useless and the readers will turn the page... 4. Final summary It‘s not a bad thing, quite on the contrary, if at the end of the article you summarize in the brief and clear words the most important information in the article which you want to remain in the readers’ minds. 5. Accompanying materials (images, diagrams and graphs) A good quality image or graph will say more than a long text. A cut through the machine or uncovered equipment will provide more information and the readers’ eyes will be looking on the image longer that if the equipment is covered in the nicest looking sheet metal cover design. Please do not insert graphic objects into the body of the article, but leave them in a separate graphic file such as JPEG, TIFFF, BMP, etc. That is just some information which should help you during the composition of your contribution to the MM Industrial Spectrum magazine. Know that your efforts will be rewarded by your readers your potential customers, in the increased readership of your articles. Our professional editors will subsequently edit the article in accordance with the editorial practices. The size of the article: up to 7000 characters including spaces and up to four graphics.
Special publications To a large extent the readers appreciate the special monothematic publications, which are issued under the name MM Special. So far, we have released the following special professional publications – „High speed machining“, „Modern cutting tools and tool materials“, „Designing the CNC machining equipment“, „Materials for cutting equipment“, „Management of risks in the design of production machines“ and „Designing the CNC machining equipment (extended edition)“. For the year 2014, we are preparing another extended updated edition of the publication „Designing the CNC machining equipment“. Last but not least there are the specialized supplements, eg. In the area of design and technology in the processing of plastics, CAD/CAM systems, surface treatments and coating materials, subcontractors to the automotive industry and others. The pages of the magazine also contain the Antal, thematically focused series, such as in the formo f „round tables“ about the pro-export policies, or about the use of the structural funds from the EU. All of these projects underline the high professional level of the titles published by MM publishing.
