Fondazione Alessio Tavecchio onlus is a non-profit organization founded thanks to a direct experience of his President, Alessio, who sits on a wheelchair due to a motorbike accident. The greatest obstacle he had to face was the return to society because in Italy there isn’t yet a synergy between the acute hospital phase, and the return to a ‘normal’ life. This is why the Foundation was created, to fill this gap through the realization of the Open Village Monza, a rehabilitation, formation-training and sport Centre for disabled, with the peculiarity to be open to everyone without differences between able-bodied and disabled. This makes it unique in Italy. Our target is the achievement of one’s welfare, regardless one’s physical conditions. Fondazione Alessio Tavecchio onlus was set up on July 23rd 1998 in Monza and was legally acknowledged with the Ministerial Decree of November 14th 2000. The Foundation acts in the social solidarity field, social care and community health. It carries out activities for elderly and disabled, to obtain better quality of their lives, their social and working integration and their physical and mental welfare.

OPEN VILLAGE MONZA REHABILITATION, FORMATION-TRAINING AND SPORT CENTRE

The Centre will be a place of connection among hospital, return to the family and social working reintegration for disabled; a place where rehabilitation, practicing sports and attending professional training courses, will be a must. The Centre will be open to everybody and it is a place where one can take care of his/her own welfare, through sport and cultural activities.

TRANSPORT SERVICE for DISABLED and ELDERLY

The Transport Service, stared several years ago, is a real assistance for disabled and elderly of Monza and surroundings. The Foundation manages the organization of this service and its fleet consisting of 9 vehicles. Volunteer drivers help us to perform this service. Solidarity Group and Psychological Support Activity There are two resources dedicated to the promotion of growth and welfare of each of us: The Solidarity Group helps disabled and elderly through listening, sharing, and socialization. The staff is made of 6 volunteers. The Psychological Support Activity helps people suffering from neurological diseases, to develop their own personal capability which is weakened by the disease or trauma. 2 psychologists follow them through individual and/or team meeting.

Professional Training The Foundation offers Professional Training courses for every need: • Basic courses for people who are using the computer for the first time • advanced programming courses to get a specialization targeted to one’s profession or hobby • foreign languages courses Then, thanks to the collaboration with CISCO SYSTEMS (an USA multinational in web e telecommunication field), we have opened a CISCO ACADEMY, which includes two courses: • CISCO IT ESSENTIALS, with the purpose of helping those who aim to enter the Information Technology market • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) to enter into the telecommunication field. Every course is free for disabled (34% minimum work disabled, 46% minimum civil disabled). All courses are held at Fondazione Alessio Tavecchio' offices in via Philips, 12 Monza at CISCO.
