Cox Security Suite Plus Powered by McAfee® Cox Security Suite Plus Powered by McAfee® is hassle-free, all-you-need security, ideal for people who are constantly online for communication, shopping, banking, trading or viewing entertainment. Featuring the award-winning McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus web security tool, this unique program warns about and blocks risky web sites. Cox Security Suite Plus Powered by McAfee provides continuous protection for your family and entire network of PCs from viruses, spyware, hackers, identity thieves, and online scammers. The unique parental controls allow you to protect your children from inappropriate content while safely exploring, learning and enjoying their online interests. Making Sure You Are Protected Upon installation the Cox Security Suite Plus will display your security status. Simply open the Security Suite window in one of three ways. 1)

Double-click on the Desktop Icon

Click on Windows Icon, select All Programs (or Programs), select McAfee, then select McAFee Security Suite

Double-click the M icon in the system tray, near the time display

The McAfee SecurityCenter window shown on the left is the nerve center of your PC security system. A green check mark is the indication your PC is fully protected.

Should you see a yellow or red status icon, your McAfee software will help you fix the problem and return you to a green status. Simply click the “Fix It” button. The Cox Security Suite Plus software will go through a series of checks and promptly return your system to a fully protected status.

A security alert will also appear in the lower right-hand corner of your computer screen. When you receive one of these alerts, click on the “check protection status” button and follow the directions to return to a fully protected status.

Whether you are interested in increased power optimization of your notebook PC or Active Protection against malicious threats, you can find all the latest product features by clicking on the Cox Security Suite icon. Following are highlights of just a few of the features your Cox Security Suite Plus security program now includes.

Computer and Files Protection Click on the Computer and Files icon to view the services provided for your protection. On the right side you will see the services offered; Virus Protection, Spyware Protection, SystemGuards, Windows Protection and PC Health.

Click on the configure button to view your setting options for each service. Warning: By turning off any of these settings you risk reducing the level of coverage needed for your complete protection.

Internet and Network protection Click on this area and view Firewall and Identity Protection programs. These programs, while set to an accepted security standard, do allow you the ability to increase the level of coverage protecting you from unwanted intrusion, transmission of personal information, a secure vault for all your passwords and the ability to monitor the connection of unknown devices with your PC.

Firewall options – By clicking on the Configure button you are allowed the option of more advanced settings on your Firewall. The default for Firewall allows outgoing-only access, automatic alerts to unrecognized and potentially unwanted programs, and detection of the most common type of known attacks protecting you from the most common of intrusions.

Click on the Advanced button in the Firewall area and you have the ability to manage your security level even further.

More advanced settings to further customize access to your system can be found by clicking on the multiple options in the left-hand window. Shown below is the Program Permissions window allowing individual program names to be indentified and marked with level of access.

Identity Protection – Identity theft protection, anti-phishing and SiteAdvisor software all help keep your identity safe. Included in Cox Security Suite Plus is the ability for your personal information to be protected from access without your permission, storage of all your passwords in a protected area, and monitoring of any unknown devices which try to connect to your PC without permission.

Click on the advanced button in the Personal Information area. In this window you may enter information you do not wish transmitted from your computer without permission. Continue protecting your indentification by clicking on the Advanced button in the Password Vault and Network Monitoring sections and entering information requested.

Email and IM Protect your system from unwanted Spam, infected email attachments, IM virus, and spyware. Defaults for these types of protection are enabled when your system is initially installed. Filtering options may be adjusted for spam.

Parental controls Protect your children from potential online threats. This fast and easy setup provides your children protection from inappropriate content. In your SecurityCenter menu, click on Parental Controls, then click on Configure in the right-hand corner.

Each member of your family may be added to the program by clicking on the Windows Start icon, choosing Control Panel, and clicking under User control and Family Safety as shown in the steps below. When finished, return to the SecurityCenter. Making sure you are protected Step 1 Click on Windows Start Icon in the lower left-hand corner of your monitor. Step 2 Choose control panel Step 3 Click on User Accounts and Family Safety

Step 6 Provide the account user’s name and create account As each new member signs in for the first time, a password will be requested. Guidelines created for that member will be instituted during their time on the computer. Close this window and return to the Cox Security Suite page. Click on Protection Status - Parental Controls – Configure and then Advanced button.

Setting up a new family member Edit each new user account by clicking on users name and edit. Begin with content rating by identifying the age group of the user. Defaults of recommended image filtering and age appropriate searching on the internet will be activated for this age group.

You may add advanced filtering by clicking on the left-hand window on Filtered Web Sites and Keywords and identifying specific web addresses or words that may be approved or denied.

SiteAdvisor Plus SiteAdvisor Plus software identifies and prevents you from clicking on harmful website links in your browser, email, or instant messages. SiteAdvisor’s safety ratings are based on a massive database of test results from millions of automated site visits, download installations and e-mail registration. Extra data features in SiteAdvisor Plus inform you how a download will interact with the inner workings of your PC and whether it will properly and completely uninstall when you are through.

How to Use When using a search engine such as Google, SiteAdvisor’s safety ratings appear next to search results.

When participating on IM, the same icons will be used as safety ratings for other users who are communicating with you, ensuring your protection.

To see more information about the web site, roll your mouse over any SiteAdvisor Plus Safety rating.

Security Status Click on the Configure button at the bottom right of the screen for current status of your SecurityCenter.
