Wearable Lace? Who would have thought! We created this collection so you can experience the joy of creating lace without the troubles of long projects. The small designs can be used to create charm bracelets, or you can use them on bobby pins. You can use the small designs without the eyelets to glue onto items like shoes, hats, candles or any other object that you normally wouldn't be able to embroider. We also included seven designs created for pins and barrettes. Finally, there are three large 3D designs that are used to create lapel pins. Most of the projects are very fast to complete and you and your family will have fun creating many different projects. This is the perfect design set to get the young ones interested in embroidery. All of the hardware closures for the jewelry are available at your local craft store. Have Fun!

Tips for Sewing Lace

The designs in this collection are small without a lot of detail so we use only one layer of either Wet n Gone, Aqua Magic or Aqua Mesh, stabilizer. This type of stabilizer will give you the best stability.

Always wind your own bobbins so the back of the lace matches the front. When using metallic use a like colored rayon or poly thread.

Creating a Lace Charm Bracelet

The photos above show the different types of supplies you will need to create a lace charm bracelet. The left photo shows different types of closures. Most closures will work with this project. The photo on the right shows small silver or brass rings. You will use these rings to attach the bracelet pieces together and to attach the charms to the bracelet.

The first step in creating a charm bracelet is to measure the size of your wrist. Each charm bracelet piece is one inch long. So if you have a 7” wrist you will need to embroider 7 of the pieces. Remember that the length of the bracelet would depend on the type of closure that you purchase for the bracelet. Many different types of closures are available in the jewelry section of craft stores. We've also included a triangle end cap piece to fit finer closures.

We joined the bracelet pieces together using two 6mm jump rings. The rings are available in any craft store.

After the bracelet is finished it is time to attach the charms. The first step is to lay the charms out the way you want them to look.

Once the bracelet is together attach the closure to both ends of the bracelet. The method to attach the closure will vary depending on the type of closure you purchase. No matter what type of closure you use you will probably need a set of needle nose pliers to attach them.

Open small jewelry loops using pliers and thread them through the small holes in the charms.

The final step is to thread thejump ring though the lattice work in the bracelet links and close the loops using pliers. Now you are done.

Creating Lace Pins and Barretts

These are the Lace Barrette and Pin Designs

The first step is to sew the design of your choosing out using Wet n’ Gone Stabilizer. After it is embroidered be sure to rinse it , let dry and press flat.

Step three is simple, glue the design to the top of the barrette using glue that will dry clear. Let dry, and you are finished.

The next step is to choose a barrette for the project. We are using a simple barrette purchased at a drug store. If the barrette color doesn't match simply paint it with nail polish to match the embroidery.

These are the designs used to create the three dimensional pins.

Step one is to embroider all of the individual pieces of the design.

The third step is to sew the small cluster to the center of the other two pieces.

Using a needle and thread, hand sew the first piece to the base embroidery which is the larger flower.

Step four is simple, glue the pin back to the design using glue that will dry clear. Let dry, and you are finished.
