Whether you’re here for appointments, visiting a friend or picking up medical supplies, Mayo Clinic offers health information resources and a variety of activities for your comfort and entertainment.

Learn Barbara Woodward Lips Patient Education Center: Home of the Transparent Man from the 1933 World’s Fair, this health information resource center is open to all patients and visitors. Brochures, videos, exhibits, medical models, Internet access for medical searches, a reference library, and classes provide information about healthy living and various medical conditions. The Patient Education Center is in the Siebens Building, subway level. It is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Stephen and Barbara Slaggie Family Cancer Education Center: As one of the largest cancer resource centers in the country, the Mayo Clinic Cancer Education Center contains reliable, up-to-date information on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, nutrition, clinical trials, support, alternative and complementary therapies and end-of-life care. The center is also home to an inspirational public journal for cancer patients to record their insights, or to read about other patient’s experiences with cancer. The Cancer Education Center is located in the lobby of the Gonda Building and is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information Desks: Providing general information and directions, Information Desks are located in the Gonda Building lobby and subway, Mayo Building subway, Francis lobby, and the main floors of the Generose and Mary Brigh Buildings. Hospital Patient Libraries: Located at Rochester Methodist Hospital in the Eisenberg Building, subway level, and Saint Marys Hospital in the Francis Building, seventh floor, the patient libraries provide books, magazines, newspapers, videos, audiobooks, music, tape players, computers with Internet and e-mail access, and fax and copy equipment. The libraries are available to patients at no charge and are open weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and weekends from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Enjoy Music, Art and History Art and Architecture Tour: Works of art reflecting various artists, periods and cultures are displayed throughout the Mayo Campus. This one-hour and fifteen minute walking tour visits interior art exhibits. Guided tours are held weekdays at 1:30 p.m. beginning in Judd Auditorium, subway level of the Mayo Building. You can also check out an audio player at the Gonda Lobby Information Desk for a self-guided audio art tour. Mayo Clinic Tour: Staff will guide you through an informative tour of Mayo Clinic, including a 15-minute film and a one-hour walking tour. Tours are held weekdays at 10 a.m. beginning in Judd Auditorium, subway level of the Mayo Building.

Carillon Concerts: The bell tower atop the Plummer Building houses the 56-bell Rochester Carillon. Concerts are held year-round on Mondays at 7 p.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays at noon. The concerts can be heard outside, in the vicinity of the Plummer Building, and last approximately 20 minutes. Harmony for Mayo: A music series for Mayo patients, visitors, staff and the public, Harmony for Mayo concerts are held on Mondays from 12:10 to 1 p.m. at different locations around the Mayo Clinic campus. All concerts are free and open to the public. Stop by an Information Desk for details on upcoming concerts. Mayo Clinic Heritage Hall: Located in the Mathews Grand Lobby (street level) of the Mayo Building, this museum includes artifacts, films and interactive displays. Exhibits link Mayo’s past and present with a vision for the future of medicine — along with the vital role of philanthropy in supporting patient care, research and education. The museum is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Mayo Historical Suite: The historical suite, on the third floor of the Plummer Building, houses many photos and memorabilia of Mayo history, including the original offices of Drs. William J. and Charles H. Mayo. It is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nathan Landow Atrium Piano: Home to a donated piano, the Nathan Landow Atrium is often filled with soothing music, sing-alongs, or even impromptu ensemble performances. The piano is located in the subway level of the Gonda Building, and all patients, visitors and staff are welcome to play.

Shop & Eat Mayo Clinic Gift Shop: Located in the Shops at Gonda, subway level of the Gonda Building, the Mayo Clinic Gift Shop offers unique gifts and Mayo Clinic logo items and apparel. All proceeds support medical education and research at Mayo Clinic. The Gift Shop is open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mayo Clinic Pharmacy: Outpatient pharmacies are located in the Mayo and Baldwin buildings, and in the lobbies of both Saint Marys and Rochester Methodist hospitals. Prescriptions from Mayo Clinic physicians can be filled at any of these locations. Pharmacy hours vary. Mayo Clinic Pharmacy by Phone is available from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday – Friday. Mayo Clinic Store: In addition to a full line of quality medical supplies for purchase and rental, the Mayo Clinic Store offers reliable health information products such as the Mayo Clinic Family Health Book. Located in the Siebens Building, subway level, the Mayo Clinic Store is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All proceeds support medical education and research at Mayo Clinic.

Mayo Clinic Store - Sleep Apnea Supplies: Located in the Gonda Building, 17 floor, the sleep apnea supply store offers sleep medicine supplies, including airway pressure flow generators, humidifiers and accessories. The store is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All proceeds support medical education and research at Mayo Clinic. Rochester Methodist Hospital Gift Shop: Operated by the Rochester Methodist Hospital Auxiliary, the gift shop offers a wide selection of gift items – from greeting cards to floral arrangements. It is located in Eisenberg building, lobby level, and open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saint Marys Hospital Gift Shop: Cards, gifts and flowers are available at the Saint Marys Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop, located in the Joseph Building, main floor. It is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Mayo Hearing: Located in the Siebens Building, subway level, Mayo Hearing provides walk-in hearing aid cleaning and troubleshooting, and offers hearing aid batteries, amplified telephones or television amplifiers for purchase. Mayo Hearing is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Patients who wish to see an audiologist about new hearing aids or reprogramming of hearing aids must schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-247-1807 or 507-284-2903. If patients would like to have their hearing tested they can schedule an appointment with Audiology on Mayo L5 or call 507-284-3856. Patient and Visitor Cafeterias: The NEDS Cafeteria (Nutrition Education Dining) in Rochester Methodist Hospital, Eisenberg Building, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Patient and visitor cafeterias are also available in the subway level of the Mayo Building, open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and in Saint Marys Hospital, Francis Building, open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Take A Break Atriums: Patients and visitors looking for a place to relax, read a book, or often enjoy soft piano music can visit an atrium area on the Mayo campus: • Hage Atrium: Siebens Building, subway level • Nathan Landow Atrium: Gonda Building, subway level • Barbara Woodward Lips Atrium: Charlton Building, subway level Quiet Room: With soft lights and comfortable lounge chairs, the Quiet Lounge provides a peaceful and relaxing place to rest between appointments. It is located on the subway level of the Gonda Building, just north of the information desk.. Reading Materials: Literature racks are located throughout the campus and at all Information Desks. A variety of reading materials are available to Mayo Clinic patients and visitors, including: • Mayo Magazine: Published three times a year, it includes patient and benefactor stories, historical features, research updates and other news from Mayo Clinic. • Word for Word: A collection of magazine articles and newspaper clippings that have appeared throughout the nation. The reprinted stories are written by journalists and patients who have chosen to write about Mayo Clinic.

Log On Patient Communications Center: Located in the subway level of the Gonda Building, the center has computers with Internet access, Internet connection for laptop computers, and printers. All are available for use by patient and family members. It is open weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Gonda Building: Computers with access to the Internet for health information searches are available for patient use in the lobbies of the Gonda Building, floors two through 10. Mayo Hospitals: Computers are available in the patient libraries at Rochester Methodist Hospital and Saint Marys Hospital.

CarePages: Mayo Clinic now offers CarePages, a free Web service for our patients while they are at Mayo, to help them keep in touch with loved ones back home and elsewhere. CarePages can be created wherever a patient or family member has Internet access. Patients and families can post messages, updates and pictures, and loved ones can respond with messages of support and encouragement. The service is confidential, secure and private and is accessible only to individuals selected by the patient or loved one. Step-by-step instructions on creating or visiting a CarePage are available at www.carepages.com/mayoclinic. High Speed Wireless Internet Access: Mayo Clinic offers complimentary high speed wireless internet access to patients and visitors. This service is free of charge and is currently available at the following locations: Saint Marys Hospital, Eisenberg Building, Charlton Building, Mayo Building, and the Gonda Building. Stop by the nearest nurse’s station to obtain the current login and access code.
