For those of you with very small children (up to age 3) our Nursery is open and available to you in our lower level. Our caring volunteers are ready and willing to watch over your child while you are in service this morning. You can worship with peace of mind as all parents are given a pager so you can be contacted at a moment’s notice should your child need you. An usher is able to help direct you if you need assistance. All children are welcome to come forward for our Children’s Message. Following the message, children ages 3 through 7th grade are invited to follow our teachers out for Kids’ Church. At the end of service, children up through 4th grade can be picked up in the lower level, while children in 5th-7th grade can be picked up upstairs in our youth room. Chancel Choir Concert with Chamber Orchestra Sunday, March 16, 4:00 pm Mozart: Solemn Vespers Being the court composer and cathedral organist in Salzburg left Mozart little leeway for the types of music he was to supply for state functions and cathedral liturgies. He knew his music had to be energetic and lively, even for “solemn” evening worship, when the traditional five Psalms and Magnificat needed to favor the mood of exuberant praise, rather than of meditative prayer. The Christ Church choir with orchestra will offer a moderate re-creation of that Vespers event in 1780. We will have prayers, chants, and scripture with the proper interspersion of Mozart’s six delightful expressions of the Psalms of praise and Mary’s Song from Luke. One of the most memorable works of classical church music is included in the set: “Laudate Dominum” for chorus and soprano solo, which listeners will recognize with delight, as it is sung by Jean Burnquist.

Mission Moments

An interesting read is a book entitled, Toxic Charity by Robert D. Lupton. It gives a whole different slant on charitable works. The Session is reading it and the members of the Mission Ministry will be starting it soon. Please see Pastor de Vries about how you can obtain a copy and/or check the church library. The Mission Ministry of Christ Church proudly announces the visit of the LIKAY THAI FOLK DRAMA DANCERS They will be presenting dances and drama based upon stories from scripture after the late service on March 23rd. The presentation will be preceded by a covered dish luncheon where the baked chicken and mac-n-cheese will be provided. This family friendly production is part of the outreach mission of the Christian Communications Institute of Payap University in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Its longtime director is Dr. Rob Collins who is married to our mission representative, Dr. Esther Wakeman-Collins. It was organized to tell the Gospel message to those who were unable to read or were uninterested in just the spoken word. The CCI troupe has presented the Good News Gospel on many international tours and always looks forward to their visit to Christ Church. The drama will begin about 12:30 for those who may not be attending the late service or the luncheon. Please invite friends and neighbors who might enjoy this beautiful message.
