Welcome Families to Christ Church! For those of you with very small children (up to age 3) our Nursery is open and available to you in our lower level. Our caring volunteers are ready and willing to watch over your child while you are in service this morning. You can worship with peace of mind as all parents are given a pager so you can be contacted at a moment’s notice should your child need you. An usher is able to help direct you if you need assistance. Family Worship Supplements are available at the front of the sanctuary. Thank you for worshiping with us this morning.

Anthem Psalm 110 from Solemn Vespers of a Confessor

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Heather Cooper, piano Beatus vir qui timet Dominum,

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,

n mandatis ejus volet nimis.

who delights in his commandments.

Potens in terra erit semen ejus,

His seed shall be mighty upon the earth;

generatio rectorum e bendicetur.

the generation of the righteous shall be blessed.

Gloria et divitiae in domo ejus,

Glory and prosperity shall be in his house;

et justitia ejus manet in saeculum saeculi.

and his justice endures from generation to generation.

Exortum est in tenebris lumen rectis,

A light has risen in the darkness

misericors et miserator et justus.

for the upright: one who is merciful, compassionate, and just.

Jucundus homo, qui miseretur et commodat,

Happy is the man who sympathizes and shares,

disponet sermones suos in judicio.

who chooses his words with discretion;

Quia in aeternum non commovebitur.

Because he will not be troubled for eternity;

In memoria aeterna erit justus,

the just man shall be in everlasting remembrance.

ab auditione mala non timebit.

He shall not fear evil tidings;

Paratum cor ejus sperare in Domino.

his heart is ready to hope in the Lord.

Confirmatum est cor ejus; Non commovebitur

His heart is strengthened; he shall not be shaken

donec despiciat inimicos suos.

until he looks down upon his enemies.

Dispersit, dedit pauperibus,

He disperses, he gives to the poor;

justitia ejus manet in saeculum saeculi.

His justice endures from generation to generation.

Cornu ejus exaltabitur in gloria.

His horn shall be exalted with honor.

Peccator videbit et irascetur:

The wicked will see, and be angered;

dentibus suis fremet et tabescet:

He will gnash with his teeth, and waste away.

desiderium peccatorum peribit.

The desire of the wicked shall perish.

Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper,

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,

et in saecula saeculorum, Amen.

world without end, Amen.

Announcing the Inaugural Concert for our new Christ Church

Bösendorfer Grand Piano: This Evening at 7:00 pm The Cleveland Orchestra Quintet

The first concert use of the new grand piano in Christ Presbyterian Church will be played by some of the “inner circle” of the world famous Cleveland Orchestra. Principal Keyboard artist, Joela Jones, will be joined by a string quartet who are either principals or assistant principals of the violin, viola, and cello sections of the orchestra. The program will include piano solos, a duet with her husband cellist, and a quintet with the strings in order to feature the collaborative qualities of this amazing new instrument in our sanctuary. Joela Jones holds the Rudolph Serkin Endowed Chair, which includes the duties of playing piano, organ, harpsichord, celesta, synthesizer, and accordion with The Cleveland Orchestra. As soloist with the Orchestra, she has performed over fifty different concertos in more than 200 performances at Severance Hall and Blossom Music Center as well as on tour in Europe and Asia. Since the renovation of Severance Hall’s Norton Memorial Organ in 2001, Ms. Jones has performed works for organ and orchestra by Barber, Poulenc, SaintSaëns, Janáček, MacMillan, and Ives. She is also principal accompanist for the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus and visiting vocal soloists.
