THE JUDGEMENT OF THE ENEMY Jude 14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. 16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.

On a Sunday evening at the end of April we looked at this man Enoch and we studied what the Word of God had to say about him there in Gen. 5:21-24. We saw how he pleased God and how he was justified before God; he lived as an example before his people a life of simple faith; he enjoyed the intimate presence of God in Whom He placed all his confidence; and then we read those beautiful words of how he was lifted up into Heaven, 5:24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

So we don’t need to cover ground again that we have looked at recently, but Jude brings this man Enoch to the fore, … so what is the relevance here? Why did Jude mention Enoch? Jude mentioned Enoch simply because of the prophecy he brought, and it is this prophecy we shall look at this evening. THE MOMENT OF HIS COMING Jude 14 … Behold, the Lord cometh

∗ ∗ ∗

We have been touching on this aspect quite a lot recently. I also hear Bill Turnbull was often excited about this subject too, - the coming again of the Lord Jesus Christ. Surely there is no more thought so thrilling as the thought of Jesus Christ coming through the clouds. And what a tremendous word starts it all off, … Behold! ∗ When John the Baptist saw Jesus walking towards him he shouted out to the crowds, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Jesus said to the church in Laodicea, Rev. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock

Behold, … it means to stop what you are doing, and listen for something very important is about to happen or about to be said.

There is absolutely no doubt cast here; there is no wondering what it could possibly mean. The very fact is this, … and Jude is convinced of it, … Behold, the Lord cometh … Jesus is coming again. And then look at this too, …

THE MARVEL OF HIS COMING Jude 14 … Behold, the Lord cometh

Jude knew Jesus in an altogether personal way, and this is what made the coming of the Lord all the more special. It wasn’t just something from an old book that he was writing about here. Jude was looking forward to a time when he would see his Jesus again for himself. Jude is watching for Him. Jude will know Him when He comes. Jude is waiting for Him, … longing to be in His presence again. Is that how you are looking forward to seeing Jesus? More than likely, Jude was Jesus’ brother and he had often seen Him; you and I have never seen Jesus and I’m excited about seeing Him face to face for the first time! I don’t where I’ll be on that day, - I could be preaching, or out in my car, or at home, … or I could be in the grave when Jesus comes, … I don’t know, but I’ll see Him, as Job said, 19: 25 For I know that my redeemer … shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: 26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: 27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another

No matter where I am, no matter what I’m doing … I’ll not miss it! I’ll see Him! … Behold, the Lord cometh. The moment of His coming, the marvel of His coming …

THE MULTITUDE AT HIS COMING Jude 14 … Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints

The Bible tells us there will come a moment in Heaven when God will give the command for the multitude of His saints to descend upon the earth, and at the head of them will be our Saviour,

The Bible tells us, Rev. 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. … 16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

This is Jesus coming, and with Him are the saints of Heaven. He enters this earth and the world won’t be able to stop Him. The fear will grip the world as Jesus returns with His army of born-again believers. On that day the great armies of the world will be no match for this heavenly host, - Jesus will come victorious and He will come in all the majesty of Heaven! And look at the number 1,000, … 10 x 10 x 10. Ten is a special number in Scripture, and especially in the Book of Revelation. It is the number of perfection and completeness. All God’s children will be gathered on that day, - every last one of them; those who have died and those are on earth at His coming, - that’s who this multitude is. This is the Church triumphant, … and “What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see; when I look upon His face the One Who saved me by His grace.” And when the multitude comes, what’s the purpose …, what’s …

THE MOTIVE FOR HIS COMING Jude 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. 16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.

I read from Rev. 19 a few moments ago; I left out v.15, but I shall include it now, … 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

Time’s up! The world has had all the opportunities it is going to get. The Gospel will no longer be preached, ∗ the apostates didn’t want it preached, ∗ the Muslims didn’t want it preached, ∗ the Roman Catholics didn’t want it preached, ∗ … and all the other opposers who didn’t want it preached, ∗ - they all are going to get want they want, … no more Gospel preaching, no more will they have to listen to God’s message of Saving Grace. … It never will be preached on earth again; … they will never ever have to listen again to how Jesus died on the cross of Calvary to take away sin, … never again! When Jesus comes all the opportunities to be saved are over! The next time Jesus Christ the King comes to this earth He is not coming as Saviour, … He is coming as Judge. And look what kind of a world He is coming into, ∗

v.15 ungodly … ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. 16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.

… That’s what Jesus is coming back to. And what is the attitude of the unbeliever to the news that Jesus is coming back again? Ah, they don’t believe it, … it can’t be true, … it doesn’t fit their plans and agendas. I was speaking with a man the other day who is a freemason, - and incidentally, I don’t believe that freemasonry is compatible with being a child of God , - and if a freemason wished to join our church I would be completely against his acceptance until he renounced his freemasonry. Anyhow, I was speaking with this man and he was telling me about the great merits of this organisation (I said nothing derogatory, - it was neither the time or the place). But since he was plying his wares I took the opportunity to share the Gospel with him. But no, he wasn’t interested, didn’t want to listen.

These things don’t fit in with the world’s view that Jesus Christ is coming back again and the world has to answer to Him. Yes, Jesus will come in completely unexpected and uninvited. It will be too late for them to make any preparations, - Jesus comes in unannounced, Mt. 24:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

On that day what catastrophic horror will devastate this world and its inhabitants! Just imagine, … found condemned, without any opportunity of appeal, damned to everlasting punishment in the eternal fires of hell. That is the condemnation of the ungodly sinners who have spoken against him. Sin would be cast from the throne of this world and Jesus will take His proper place.

CONCLUSION. ∗ Away back before the Flood Enoch saw this beautiful picture. ∗ How? ... I can’t give you an answer to that, except that God the Holy Spirit was active in both the lives of Jude and Enoch. ∗ But, I can tell you this too, - this is the hope that every true, Bible-believing born again child of God is looking forward to, … Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints ∗ The day of sin will be over, - no more gambling, no more womanising, no more sodomy, no more fiddling, - it will all be over when our Jesus returns with the multitudes that are His. ∗ Are you excited? Ah, you should be, and I hope you are! ∗ As Jude looked around Him and saw the capers of the ungodly … he could see past them and he could see on to Jesus.
