Summer Reading  Welcome to 3rd Grade!

Dear Future 3rd Grade Students & Parents, This summer you will be required to read two books and keep track of summaries of the books by maintaining a log/notebook. A sample of the   information a chapter summary could include is attached. It would be advised to write in the log after each chapter in order to be well prepared to take an Accelerated Reader (AR) test on each book in August. The AR quizzes will evaluate the student’s comprehension and will be appointed a grade. Please select two books to read from the four books listed below. Some of the listed books are part of a series, be sure to verify the selection you choose is indeed an AR book. You may validate this by visiting http://www.arbookfind.com/ and typing in the title of the selected book. Enjoy your summer! We are very excited to meet you! Choose two books of the following: 1. Third Grade Angels by Jerry Spinelli 2. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett (ISBN: 978‐0‐689‐30647‐1) 3. Nate the Great (any AR book from the series)by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat 4. A to Z Mysteries (any AR book from the series except the “Absent Author”) by Ron Roy
