Flag Football – 11th Year! - Jon Loer This program is designed by the NFL to promote the sport in a fun, low key, learning environment! $135.00 registration fee includes: Reversible NFL jersey, Flag Football Belt, 8 game league schedule, 10 player teams with 5 on 5 games. Teams will be co-ed ages 5-14 (age on 9/1/16). There is a $20.00 discount for early registration as well as a $10.00 discount for each additional child registered. Preschool Spring Programs PRESCHOOL SOCCER - Steve Cassidy More touches on the ball and less stoppage time results in more fun and provides the opportunity for optimal player development. The 3v3 continuous play format will allow for a significant increase of touches on the ball for every child in the program, regardless of age or skill level. The scrimmage sessions will begin with a 30 minute warm-up and technical skill sessions followed by a 30 minute scrimmage.

MOMMY & ME GYMNASTICS - Shen’s Gymnastics Academy Our very popular & fun instructor-led gymnastics classes designed for toddlers aged 18 mos-3 years and their mom or dad. This 60- minute class brings the parents onto the floor amidst the excitement. We have small preschool-sized equipment for children this age including: rings, bars, ladders and slide. Kids also love using our zip line and trampoline in this class. ART FARM - Christine Heer & Lisa Henderson; Grow, Bloom & Thrive, LLC This wonderful program, held at Tangerini’s Spring Street Farm, is a play-based, primarily outdoor, experiential farm and forest art-themed program for children. Art Farm participants feed animals, collect eggs, hike through the farm, and enjoy a snack. They also use materials found on the farm and in the forest to create artwork, both collaboratively and individually. From painted rocks and sticks, to teepees woven with cloth, string and yarn, to fairy villages, to murals and garlands, nature provides unlimited inspiration and an unending supply of mixed media materials to work with. Please bring a full water bottle and a backpack with a change of clothes and dress your child in layers to ensure comfort while playing outdoors, including waterproof outer layers (rain pants) and mud boots. SUPERKIDS! Gymnastics Shen’s Gymnastics Academy A 60-minute, energetic, fun, gymnastics class for preschool and kindergarten-aged kids. Children, ages 3-6 participate in this class while their parents watch from the seating area. The kids get lots of personal attention and lots of turns on the apparatus such as trampoline, balance beam, rings, vault, bars, and tumble track. ADVANCED SOCCER – FC Boston Scorpions The Advanced Soccer Program is designed for players between the ages of 8 and 9 who want to improve their game and take it to the next level. While we will have loads of fun and enjoy playing the game every time we are on the field, it will also be a focused clinic for players who are a little more serious about playing and who may be interested in playing beyond the Recreational level. We will concentrate on developing foot skills, touch on the ball, passing/striking technique and building competitiveness in players. We will introduce players to the rules of the game as well as other things such as proper throw in techniques, kick offs, etc. The fee for the session includes a t-shirt and we will look to set up a scrimmage at the end of the clinic for the players involved to get an actual game in. INTRODUCTION TO SKATEBOARDING - Knucklebones Designed for beginner skateboarders with little to no experience, this class teaches fundamental skateboarding tricks and skills. Concentrating on balance, turning, accelerating, stopping, transitions, dropping in, Ollies, and a variety of other skills, we not only teach tricks but help participants develop confidence to apply them on their own. Proper safety equipment (helmet, knee and elbow pads, and wrist guards) and skateboards are required. We will focus on important aspects of running such as warm-up and cool down; why, how and when to stretch; proper running form; pace setting; keeping a log/ journal; rest and recovery; and good nutritional habits including hydration. FREERUNNING AND PARKOUR – Wu Xing Kung Fu Beginners and experienced Freerunners welcome! We teach Parkour in a graduated, fun setting that puts safety first, using mats and other equipment to help acquire skill and confidence. Build strength and gain flexibility as you learn how to interact safely with the environment. Learn break falls, cartwheels, rolls and more to disperse energy from jumps or falls; learn how to use the principles of stride, precision and wall running to plot your course. We stress efficiency, flow and the ability to change levels smoothly while maintaining momentum. FAMILY PARKOUR! – Wu Xing Kung Fu Do Parkour with your Kids! If you like to watch American Ninja Warrior and have always wanted to jump on, off and around stuff, this class is for you! Beginners and experienced Freerunners are welcome; six years old to adult. We teach Parkour in a graduated, fun setting that puts safety first, using mats and other equipment to help acquire skill and confidence. Build strength and gain flexibility as you learn how to interact safely with the environment. Learn better balance, core strength and fun acrobatic moves under the skilled eye of a professional Freerunner. Have fun and get great exercise while bonding as a family. KIDS SELF DEFENSE / JUJITSU Sensei Jeremy Flori Jukido is a style of the Japanese Martial Art of Jujitsu, the techniques of which were founded centuries ago. Today, we use Jujitsu as a comprehensive system of self-defense. Students will develop the skills and confidence to handle a wide variety of threats and to defend themselves from real life situations they might encounter in today’s dangerous world. The techniques you will learn include escapes, throws, takedowns, arm/joint locks, and pressure points, applied as a realistic approach to selfdefense. Safety and doing one’s best are always emphasized in class. Students of Jukido develop a strong sense of confidence and self-discipline among the many benefits of hard work. Classes are offered 3 times a week to better accommodate busy schedules. Students may choose any 2 or perhaps all 3 classes if they are super motivated! Come join F.A.S.T. Athletics for some street hockey fun. Fundamentals of hockey will be taught along with good sportsmanship and rules. After the instructional period is over, each day will end with a good old fashion street hockey game. F.A.S.T. **Athletics staff will be at Clyde Brown to pick up any students whom want to participate, they will walk them to the Town Hall gym where the pick-up will take place or walk them back to Clyde Brown for extended day after Hockey is over. CAR SMARTS for Teens - Shawn Lannigan; Long Distance Tire This class is a must for young drivers! Join us to learn how to care for your “investment,” whether it is your personal car or your family’s car. This is a great course for new drivers, experienced teen drivers, and for those who want to be familiar with “mechanic lingo” when it is time for repairs. Participants will learn how to change the oil and filter, check all fluids, do tuneups, change bulbs and fuses, maintain tire safety, and jump-start a car. A field trip to Purgatory Chasm is planned. If you love nature, then this is the week for you! Week 2—July 11-July 15 - Science Week Creating your own crystal name, dissolving eggs to make bouncy balls, and heat sensitive, color changing slime will be amongst the activities for this week. A trip to the Museum of Science in Boston will be the field trip for this week. Come join the fun! Week 3—July 18-July 22 - Oceans Week Learning about the ocean can be fun with boat building utilizing straws and foil, mason jar aquariums with a “pet” octopus, and creating a shark/minnow catch game. The Aquarium in Boston (or Whale Watch) will be the field trip this week. Week 4—July 25-July 29 - Sports Week Come learn a multitude of games! Some you’ve heard of and some you will learn about—including team building activities and understanding the true meaning of sportsmanship. Attending the Patriots Training Camp with a stop at the Patriots Hall of Fame are on the agenda for the field trip for this week. Week 5—August 1-August 5 - Water Week All water, all the time! Think traditional games and activities, only include water! Bring your bathing suit, towel, and sunscreen. A trip to Water Wizz water park is planned. Week 6—August 8-August 12 - Challenge Week Obstacle courses, wacky food eating competitions and lots of fun are planned for this week! Team and individual challenges are expected. The field trip will be to Rock on Adventure Norwood which is a rock climbing/ropes course). Week 7—August 15-August 19 - Got Talent? Work together or individually on props and costumes for a final performance at the end of the week. A trip to the Bellingham movie theatre will be the field trip for this week.

Week 8—August 22-August26 - Have a Blast Make our own “rockets” and set them off, group volcano building and “blowing up”, and making liquid chalk bombs should be entertaining this week! MILLIS SWIM TEAM - Millis Recreation Department This is a great opportunity to try a new sport, improve your swim stroke, make some friends and have some fun! While the summer league is a competitive league, emphasis will be placed on promoting good Sportsmanship and team spirit, while providing an environment for the individual swimmer to improve overall fitness and build self-esteem. The Millis Swim Team is open to swimmers of all abilities ages 7-18. Practices take place at Glen Ellen Country Club beginning the end of June. Practices are generally 7:50 – 8:50 a.m., Monday thru Thursday. Meets are generally held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The entire meet schedule is available online at www.millisswimteam.com. JAZZ/HIP HOP - Millis Dance Theatre Learn both Jazz and Hip Hop in one class! Jazz is a contemporary dance style, emphasizes coordination and flexibility, rhythm and musicality similar to what you would see on Broadway. Hip Hop with its popular urban-influenced style will focus on freedom of movement and individuality set to today’s current and sometimes “edgy” music. SUMMER CHESS WORKSHOP - James Dellaselva Chess is a game of skill based on scientific principles which can be taught at a very young age. Students will explore and practice basic chess theory.
