Event/Details hottest musical extravaganza! The story unfolds as a toy chest full of mismatched game and puzzles ignites a curious imagination: watch as Toopy and Binoo dance with X’s and O’s; wiggle with smiling snakes; try to outwit a gang of dancing ladders. Along with boot stompin’ Dusteroos and limbo loving sheep, Toopy and Binoo return with their wackiest and most interactive adventure yet! Entertaining and unpredictable, Toopy and Binoo: Fun and Games integrates music, theatre, dance, puppetry and innovative multimedia technology to create an off-the-wall experience that will delight the entire family! Coleman Hell – His breakout hit, “2 Heads”, is nearly 3 x Platinum in Canada and has been streamed over 100 Million times globally. His follow-up single, “Fireproof”, is on its way to becoming one of this year’s summer anthems as it climbs the Canadian radio charts. Coleman has crafted a unique musical style, incorporating elements of folk, rock, dance, and pop and fusing electronic music with organic instrumentation. Veering from house and hip hop, to nu-disco and folk-electronica, cleverly fusing beats atop the catchiest of songwriting shreds. Anchored by his inspiring and unorthodox approach, the Thunder Bay native has forged a prolific reputation as an adventurous outlier with a diverse palate. Fairy Tale Film Festival - Join us for a night of Queer films hosted by Medicine Hat Pride Association & Fairy Tales Film Festival. Doors open at 6:30 pm. There will be drinks and food served before the show, and during intermissions.

Event/Details ‘Songwriter of the Year’ by iTunes, Wood has continued to evolve and hone his musical craft. There are various explanations for the term ‘ghost light’ in relation to the world around us. There is the supernatural narrative – that every theatre has a ghost, and that when the light isn’t lit, the darkness provides a chance for the dead to haunt us. And then there is the Royal Wood version of GHOST LIGHT. The kind that lets someone truly shine from within– raw, honest and open…. and that’s why he has named his new record after this mythical glow. The Adaptation Principle – The “Adaptation Principle” is about Learning how to “Adapt” to the world around us by figuring out our own strategies, because no two autistics are alike. Peter and Diane will discuss skills and knowledge they have learned from living on the Autistic Spectrum. Diane for 59 years and Peter 26 years, a total of 85 years and counting of experience. Tried and true ways to help navigate unexpected experiences in our daily lives. Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society Annual General Meeting – Join the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter for a networking lunch and a review of the past year’s work helping families impacted by family violence. Interested in helping by donating or volunteering? Visit www.mhwss.ca RED GREEN - The man who is known worldwide for his humour, his insight, and his wisdom about life and the people one encounters in it, is back with a brand new show….. “I’m Not Old, I’m Ripe!” After 20 successful years on television from the infamous “Possum Lodge” as the handyman who believes that “anything is possible if you use enough duct tape”, Red Green is back with a whole new show focusing on “Red’s life”, (with a few side trips!). The new show follows on the heels of 77 live performances across North America in his “How To Do Everything… from The Man Who Should Know” Tour. “Remember you may have to grow old, but you don’t have to mature”. “How do you improve your gas mileage on a long trip? Don’t go!” “You may be quick on your feet, but you can’t outrun even the smallest explosion” An evening spent with Red Green is an evening of laughter.

ESPLANADE ARTS & HERITAGE CENTRE Salute! Neighbours for 75 Years JUNE 6, 2016 - SEPTEMBER 18, 2016 On June 11, 1941, an agreement between the Governments of Canada and Great Britain created the Suffield Experimental Station. Since then the name has been changed, the range of activities has grown and it has become one of the largest military science and training operations in the western world and has become an honoured, respected and valued part of this community. This is the theme of the latest exhibit curated in-house by our Museum staff. Salute! examines the reasons for its creation during the Second World War, its evolution during the “Cold War” and afterward, the return of the British Army to Canada with BATUS, the development and work of CFB Suffield as well as the history and archaeology of the area. The exhibit opened for public viewing on Monday, June 6 (the anniversary of D-Day) and is on display until Sunday, September 18. The exhibit is also designed to commemorate the 75 years during which we have been neighbours. A series of programs is also being planned to celebrate the friendly, and even family, ties which have been developed.

Evelyn Kleis Avatar Ascending SEPTEMBER 3, 2016 - OCTOBER 22, 2016 The passage of time and the transformations it brings permeate Medicine Hat artist Evelyn Kleis’ passionate new paintings, assemblages and kinetic sculpture. Influenced by Surrealism and pioneer mythologist Joseph Campbell, the paintings are characterized by bold brushwork, with collage and stenciling adding unexpected elements and delicate, gold spray paint filigree. Her wall assemblages are built with re-purposed found and purchased objects, discarded remnants which speak to the past while creating new, dreamlike scenarios. Evelyn comments that “the joy of discovery and play as well as challenge” drives the new work, along with an “expanding awareness of time’s effects in material and spiritual contexts.” Evelyn Kleis was born and raised in Eatonia, Saskatchewan. Predominantly self-taught, Kleis enjoyed going out on painting excursions in the country with her mother, Margaret Mann Butuk. She has taken numerous workshops with professional artists over her 40 year art career, and studied at the Institute of Art Therapy in Victoria, BC. Her life-long commitment to nurturing creativity and art education has been borne out through many workshops, presentations, art camps and classes for adults and children, and as an artist-in-residence at elementary schools in the Medicine Hat area. She has exhibited her work in both solo and group exhibitions throughout southern Alberta from 1977 to the present; and in the AFA TREX exhibition, From Angels to Icons, shown from 1998 to 2000 around Alberta. Her work is held in several Alberta public collections and many private collections in Canada, the USA and England. Public Reception with the Artists & Downtown Art Walk Sept 30 | 7 PM Free Admission | Refreshments | Cash Bar Music by Lyle Rebbeck with Rick Lett

Tori Foster Traces of Beings SEPTEMBER 3, 2016 - OCTOBER 22, 2016 Tori Foster’s work in photography, kinetic sculpture and video is based on logic and rigorous recording of data over time. Her everyday subject matter – city rush hour traffic patterns, people moving through public transit, a streetcar stop over 24 hours, primary satellite recording techniques and a New York streetscape – become documents of the ephemeral, mysterious and moving poetry of ordinary life. Originally from Toronto where she earned an MFA and BFA from Ryerson University, Tori Foster is now based in Los Angeles where she is Assistant Professor and the Head of Video/Digital Art at California State University, Northridge. She has received dozens of grants and awards, most recently a New Media Research and Production grant from the Canada Council for the Arts in 2016. She has shown work in 16 countries world-wide, including Canada, Germany, India, Korea, Australia, Brazil, and the USA, and her work is held in numerous public, private and corporate collections.
