Native Peruvian Biodiversity Having a great variety of microclimates, Peru gives its people the opportunity to cultivate a myriad of native products that are the result of an enormous biodiversity and provide a great source of nutritious foods. Algarrobos Organicos was created with the purpose of recovering the ancestral agricultural knowledge of the dwellers of the Andean, Coastal and Amazonian region in order to grow the best products possible for Peru and for the world. By following old traditions, we grow, process and export within the organic and biocommerce standards and systems. Each process we carry out is supervised with extreme care, using the right temperatures to preserve the fibers and benefits of our products in order to bring them in their most natural state and being able to offer functional foods with a high nutritional value.

Certifications Our company, with a commitment to ensure compliance with national and international standards, every year renews its quality, environmental and social responsability certifications. The 100% of our strategic partners are the small farming communities we work with, which are certified as organic. These communities are using an internal control system called S.I.C. Our facilities are verified and validated by international organizations, which allows us to show the different labels of certifications acquired.

Organic Certifications Each of our processes has received organic certification: from the field to the processing in our facilities and the commercialization of each of our products. Our employees are trained regarding organic regulations and we have a technical assistant team in our facilities as well as in the fields for the approval of our processes under Peruvian regulations. Our facilities' equipment ensures the safety and quality of our processes.

We firmly believe in strengthening the bonds between the earth, the growers and our company. HACCP Certification We ensure the safety and quality of our processes by implementing Good Manufacturing Practices towards the achievement of the HACCP Certification (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). Both certifications are certified by NSF International. With these, we guarantee the quality of each one of our products as well as our processes, with qualified and trained personnel.

Kosher Certification Algarrobos Organicos del Peru holds a Kosher Certification that guarantees the quality of the products according with the international regulations of the Jewish community. This certification means that the products are appropriate according the biblical and Talmudic regulations.

Gluten Free Certified Our company achieved the Gluten-Free certification in order to validate the process regulation and to verify that our products are free of this component. We demonstrate that the risk of contamination of gluten is none due to the fact that in our facilities we only work with peruvian superfoods.

Products

Dried Goldenberry is a fabulous fruit in itself. After the harvest, this product is transported to our facility in Lima for processing. It goes under a selection and peeling process, taking out the cape and leaving the fruit to be washed, disinfected and then slowly dried for about 10 hours at temperatures below the 40°C. With this process it is transformed into a raisin, very easy to chew, with a golden color and a delicious tangy and sweet taste. El aguaymanto es un fruto fabuloso por si mismo. Luego de las cosechas este producto es trasportado para ser procesado en el Centro de Servicios Algarrobos Orgánicos del Peru, para lo cual es seleccionado y pelado de forma manual retirando la cascara o protector y dejando la fruta para luego ser lavada, desinfectada y llevada a los deshidratadores donde durante 10 horas a temperaturas inferiores a los 35° grados se convierte en una pasa, muy fácil de masticar de color dorado brilloso y de sabor agridulce muy agradable.

Growing Area

Algarrobos Organicos is developing seeding activities of goldenberry in the highlands of Piura, in the northern of Peru, above 2 200 masl. The goldenberry plant has an exceptional development and yield in production. All the management is organic and certified. We have 2 large harvests per year. Actualmente Algarrobos Orgánicos viene desarrollando actividades de cultivo de aguaymanto en la sierra de Piura al norte de Peru, a 2200msnm, donde se ha podido apreciar un buen comportamiento del fruto así como del rendimiento. Todo el manejo es orgánico y está certificado. Se realizan 2 cosechas al año.

Benefits

The goldenberry is a fruit with a high levels of carotene, bioflavonoids with boasts anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It is a good source of Vitamin A and C.

Uses

This product is used as a healthy snack, to replace grape raisins in granolas and for raw cuisine, vegan or vegetarian diets, desserts, chocolate industry. Known as the Peruvian cherry, this Andean fruit was rediscovered after 500 years of being forgotten. It was part of the Incan diet and was a favorite among the nobles. Pure Camu Camu Powder made only from the skin and pulp which are dehydrated and then pulverized. Contains 10% - 12% Vit. C. Whole Camu Camu Powder made from skin pulp and seeds which are dehydrated and then pulverized. Contains 5% - 6% Vit. C. Camu Camu Extract Powder comes from the extraction of juices from the fresh fruit. Then, it is concentrated and atomized to obtain a soluble powder. Contains < 6% Vit. C. Camu Camu Puro se obtiene usando solo la cascara y pulpa, para luego ser deshidratado y pulverizado. Contiene 10% - 12% Vit. C. Camu Camu Integral es obtenido de la semilla, cascara y pulpa, para luego ser deshidratado y pulverizado. Contiene 5% - 6% Vit. C.

Uses Growing Area

Camu Camu is a native shrub from the Amazon that grows mainly in Peru, Colombia, Brazil and Venezuela. Their natural habitat are the alluvial soils. It grows in wild areas such as the side of rivers, lakes and streams. El Camu Camu es un fruto nativo de la amazonía que crece principalmente en Perú, Colombia, Brasil y Venezuela. Su hábitat natural son los suelos aluviales. Crece en zonas silvestres cercanas a las laderas del rio, lagos y arroyos.

Benefits

A fresh Camu Camu can contain up to 4% DV of vitamin C, while the lemon can reach about 0.5%. Camu Camu boasts antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The Camu Camu fruit is an excellent source of calcium, phosphorus, potassium, iron, a series of amino acids such as serine, valine and leucine and small amounts of vitamins such as thiamin, riboflavin and niacin. It is regarded as very rich in vitamin C, considerably exceeding orange and other citrus fruits. El Camu Camu fresco, puede contener hasta 4% de vitamina C, mientras que un limón llega hasta 0.5%. Contiene antioxidantes y propiedades antinflamatorias. También es una excelente fuente de calcio, fosforo, potasio, hierro y de una serie de aminoácidos como la serina, valina, leucina. Contiene pequeñas cantidades de vitaminas como la tiamina, riboflavina y niacina.
