1 Introduction The Array Networks vxAG is the virtual appliance version of Array’s APV Series Application Delivery Controller. It runs on popular hypervisors and public cloud virtualized environments. The vxAG provides all the features and functions of a hardware-based APV appliance. To run vxAG on a virtualized environment with a compatible hypervisor, following are the minimal resources required: • • •

vCPU: 2 x vCPU (can be licensed for 2 and 4) Memory: minimum 2 GB available for vxAG Storage: minimum 40 GB of available hard drive space for vxAG

1.1 Download the vxAG Image to your Local System There are multiple Array Networks vxAG images for different releases and hypervisors. For the best one for your virtualized environment, please email: [email protected] to check with Array Networks support and they will pass you a download link. Transfer the vxAG image to the Nutanix file system to use for installation on the KVM hypervisor.

2 Installing the vxAG for KVM Environment For the KVM based virtualized environment, Nutanix suggests using the Prism Web console in a supported browser to install and manage the virtual image. Following is the installation process for vxAG assuming a Nutanix cluster (NOS 4.0 version and above) with the Acropolis hypervisor in the virtualized environment. The vxAG is managed the same as other VMs that are managed by the Prism Web console. Also, the network information is needed to make the installation operational. Following are the basic network IPs and other information that are needed: • • • •

The Nutanix file system access for image upload The Nutanix Prism URL for WebUI access ________________ The vxAG IP address and mask: _______________ _________________ The vxAG default gateway: ___________________

2.1 vxAG VM installation with Prism Web Console Following are the steps to use the Prism Web Console to install vxAG for the KVM hypervisor. 1. From your client machine (Windows 8), start the IE browser (as the Web Client) and enter the Prism Web Console URL (https:///) to access the Prism Web Console. Enter User Name and Password, and then click the Login button.

Note: Depending on the https certificate for Prism, a warning popup may appear. Click ‘OK’ to continue the login process. It is expected that the vxAG image is already uploaded to the Nutanix container in untar format. The size of the untar image may be 40 GB, so please be patient with the first-time untar and image upload process. 1. The Prism Web Console home page will be displayed after login. To install the new VM from the local filesystem, click the VM menu next to the Home button.

2. Click “Create VM” from the Prism Web Console from the right top menu.

3. Enter the VM installation details for the vxAG in the Create VM Window. Next you will need to define some VM parameters, such as memory and CPU. Fill in the form as appropriate for your VM.

Note : Ensure that the existing CD-ROM is deleted before making the boot disk for vxAG.

Next, click on New Disk. The dialog box below opens up. Assuming you already have the image file on the Nutanix cluster, choose clone from NDFS file, bus type=IDE and the path for the image as a boot disk.

After the disk is created, you will now need to add NIC/interfacs. If this is the first VM you have created, and you haven’t yet defined any networks, you will need to define a network to which to attach the VM. Click on “New NIC”, then you will see the dialog box below. 6

Please ensure that the KVM virtual machine has 2 NIC/interfaces defined at minimum. An inline VPN will have two different network interfaces as shown in the screen shot below. One NIC will be public facing and the other NIC will connect to the internal network.

A one-interface VPN solution will have both the NIC/interfaces assigned to same VLAN as shown below.

Once the vxAG is installed, power on the VM and launch the console. A successful boot will provide a login prompt after few minutes as below.

2.2 Installation Review from the Nutanix Prism Once the vxAG is installed, use the Prism Web Console to verify the installation. Login to the Prism client from a browser and follow the steps below: 1. Login to the Prism Web Console from a browser.

After logging in to the Prism Web Console you will be presented with the home dashboard as below. Choose the dropdown list beside the Home button and select the VM menu.

2. From the Prism Web Console navigate to the VM list. Verify the vxAG VM status and associated alerts if any from the dashboard Once the setup is completed, the only process remaining is to add a license for trial or permanent usage.

2.3 Basic vxAG Network Setup and licensing Once the vxAG is installed as a VM and is running, the Prism Web Console provides access to the vxAG console. After accessing the vxAG console, you will need to enter the basic network information for network access. To do so: 1. From the Prism Web Console, click Launch Console from the VM dashboard. 2. Log into the vxAG console with the default access credentials: Array Networks Login (AN): array Password: admin Note: Once you are logged in, for a vxAG without a license, the warning "INVALID LICENSE KEY!" will be displayed. To enter the basic network setup, you will need to get into configuration mode.

3. Enter Enable Mode by typing "en/[ENTER]" and [ENTER] for the Enable password prompt. Now you can enter Configure Mode. Type "config terminal" and [ENTER]. The prompt should change to AN(config)#. Then enter the basic network configuration and turn on WebUI access or as applicable for your network setup. It is preferred to use an IE 9+ browser for console access via the Prism Web Console. 4. Once you have the basic network setup, the vxAG will be accessible by SSH and WebUI. For example, to access the vxAG WebUI, enter https://:8888 as the URL. Use the same default credential information as the CLI console access to log-in. • • •

To acquire a vxAG license (new or updated), please email the vxAG serial number (the output of "show version") to [email protected] or [email protected] With the serial number, an Array support engineer will be able grant you a vxAG license and email you back. To acquire the vxAG serial number; from console, type a “show version” CLI command. Copy-paste the output (or save in a notepad), then email it to Array support.

WebUI Option: Copy the version info from Webui->Admin tools->System management>System info-> version.

6. Once you get the license, you can enter the vxAG Configure Mode and enter the license with the CLI "system license " command.

WebUI Option: the license can be imported from webui->admin tools->system management -> license. Click ‘import with validation’ after applying the license in the license code test box.

After successfully importing the license, the WebUI page will reflect the new license validation and functions.

With the license applied, the vxAG is fully installed on the virtualized environment and ready to be used.
