Overnight: Innkeepers Hotels in Hobart
Local Tip: Take the MONA ROMA Ferry from waterfront or for a novel way to arrive consider a stunning seaplane trip over the city and land in style at MONA. Opinions vary about MONA – some are shocked, others simply amazed at one person’s incredible art collection from around the world and perhaps above all the awesome museum, boutique brewery, winery and fantastic cuisine offered in the “Source Restaurant”– a complex to be enjoyed, and certainly not rushed.
Day 2: Peppermint Bay Cruise • An early start should allow a visit to the top of Mount Wellington before returning to the waterfront by 10:30 for an 11am departure down the Derwent Estuary aboard the luxury 23 metre “Peppermint Bay II”. Enjoy a stunning 3 course luncheon at Peppermint Bay before returning to city by 4pm
•
Enjoy an ale or crisp Tassie white at any of the nearby waterfront hotels
•
Overnight: Innkeepers Hotels in Hobart
Local Tip 1: Meet the locals at Customs House Hotel opposite the ferry terminal, or sip the increasingly famous Lark Whisky at their distillery only a short walk away. Another local and well known “watering hole” is Shipwrights Arms in historic Battery Point – no visit to Hobart is complete until you’ve enjoyed a drink at “Shippies”. Lots of restaurant options in this area too! Local Tip 2: If you’re looking for the best in fresh local produce visit Elizabeth Street Food and Wine in North Hobart – the absolute best in everything Tassie – food, beer, wine – all right there!
Day 3: Historic Richmond and Wineries • Leaving Hobart a 25 minute drive to the historic village of Richmond, Walk across Australia’s oldest convict built bridge then return through the Coal River Valley for lunch at any of the local wineries
•
In the afternoon check out the local dining options along the waterfront before returning to your Innkeepers Hotel for last night
Local Tip: In summer visit Sorell Fruit Farm on your way to Richmond and pick your own fresh berries and local fruit. After Richmond maybe lunch at Frogmore Creek Winery – great Sav Blanc!
If departing in the afternoon this will allow time to travel north of the city to Brighton where you can visit Bonorong Wildlife Park before journeying to the nearby Derwent Valley and the township of New Norfolk. Visit the Salmon Ponds and/or Redlands Whisky Distillery located at Plenty
•
No matter what time you’re leaving to return home make your last stop at Barilla Bay Oyster Farm – located at the northern end of Hobart Airport on the Tasman Highway – they have a range of travel ready packs available for you to carry home – if you can wait!
